I give it a 4/5, great story and tone. Ryan and Jen give Moash competition for characters I hate.

That twist with them hit home for me since I had a somewhat similar issue with an ex that accepted the ring I dropped on a knee to give her. Also, John's headspace through most of the book has done a number to my own. Both of which are why I took a point off.

Water definitely used as a catalyst to give the aether spores access to investiture from the spiritual realm somehow. It is the seemingly general nature of the Luhel bond with aethers and aether spores to trade for water as the "physical" material needed for the bond.

But, as seen on TLM, it's also possible to outright fuel aether growth with pure investiture. TLM also tells us that constructs unattached from an aetherbound can be sustained when in an investiture field.

With Re-Shephir being an Unmade with Connection to Odium, it's entirely possible she has near on-demand access to Voidlight to fuel her abilities. This would align with the Fused and, at least, one other Unmade.

So, putting this all together, I believe Re-Shephir functions by converting Voidlight into Midnight Essence which is then sustained by the fact Roshar is frequently saturated in Stormlight. The use of direct/pure investiture being a substitute to the water requirement that is normally seen since it becomes unnecessary. Since she is referred to as the Midnight Mother, it is my current belief that she's either a prime Midnight aether or a Midnight aetherbound.

I don't think it's a problem for TotES. Sure, Hoid is extra blatant compared to RoW, but everything else is barely fanservice or something I'd imagine someone starting off in the Cosmere would struggle with. Ignoring Hoid, we have two characters that were only named drop once in previous stories and some techno-magic-babble for a predictive tablet algorithm.

Ultimately, I'd imagine things will go like how my friends/acquaintances who start with Stormlight think. That there's some weird stuff and people going on in the background, but glossing over it for the main characters/plot.

Ulaam does say that his cold skin and lack of heartbeat are adaptations to lower his required caloric intake. Even calls his "method" efficient.

I'd assume his other unique features for his appearance are largely also for efficiency in his eyes.

I still argue that from a physiological standpoint it would be difficult for Roshar to project power outside of itself. It's gravitational field is below the Cosmere norm and their atmosphere is more oxygen rich. Both of which will give non-Radiant Rosharans (especially if they're not Windrunners) a severe disadvantage both cardiovascularly and activity-wise. 

Everything will be harder for them if they try to go to a planet like Scadrial. Everything. Meanwhile, a normal Scadrian on Roshar would be almost like Captain America, stronger and able to last longer when it comes to physical exertion.

I can't wait to see if Wax, the absolute mad lad, managed to do the thing... The horrors and wonders that could be done.

Also, on a side note, I find it interesting that VenDell thinks Harmony is in equilibrium. Since sapience on Scadrial is via Preservation, Harmony would theoretically be tilted toward Ruin and thus slightly out of balance. I would have thought a studious seeming kandra like VenDell would be aware of this.

I spent all of Ch. 12 going "Aww, Wayne," at his poor self-esteem and pain. 

Ch. 13 is definitely a vehicle for spreading word of some WoBs and letting us nerd out. I love it!

My first thought was that most mighty of worldhoppers, Stick. They know what they are.

But, honestly, I'd vibe well with Jasnah.

I scored equally high for both Windrunner and Elsecaller on the official test, so I'd go with those two. Being able to fly, teleport, transmute things/people, and make things stick together would probably improve my quality of life to a significant degree.

No more super-commutes. I'd be living the dream with that alone.

My talent would be ludicrously bad luck.

I definitely agree with this. I was hoping Rlain wouldn't bond the Sibling since it was brought up. The Sibling basically only was willing to because of immutable characteristics. Which would have felt awful for Rlain after him talking about wanting to have a spren bond him because it wants HIM. The whole Sibling being willing to bond Rlain felt like a different beat on the whole Kaladin ordering that honorspren to consider him. "Please consider our token Listener." 

I also didn't want Dabbid to bond with the Sibling either considering how he was extorted by them. It is my sincere hope that an honorspren decides to bond him. 

Anyways, Navani bonding the Sibling is great. They both have their faults, they both have their conflicting beliefs, yet they both mesh together. It was truly enjoyable to see the Sibling get all excited over Navani understanding the fabrials they made of themself.

Anti-tone only hurts him and stops him, but he was able to recover relativly quickly. Anti-Rythm was used by Sibling to remove Voidlight from system, and this reset Tower Supressor Fabrials to normal function, and those fabrials cut off Moash from Odium and restore his feelings.

I think Anti-Preservation Tone will have rather modest effects on normal Scadrians. Maybe on metalborn will be bigger. I think more someone is Connected to particular Shard, will be more sensitive for Anti-Tones.

It was specifically what happened. There are two instances in which the effect of the Anti-Odium Tone is mentioned. The first was the scene that Navani sung the song, the second being Moash's panicked recounting moments afterwards.

And before that, a terrible sound. It had pushed away his Connection to Odium, forcing Moash to feel pain for the things he'd done - pain he didn't want. Pain

Moash describes a specific sound as being what removed the emotional pain suppression that Odium gave him. Contrarily, the few times we see people describe the suppression fabrial involves terms like "smothering" and "oppressive", nothing about a "terrible sound." It seems reasonable that either Navani's first singing or the use of the tone to vent the Voidlight from the Sibling were the cause of the loss of Connection.

Now, it comes back afterwards, but it still seems to have been disrupted by the Tone.

I suspect that Investiture based "structures" that exist in the Spiritual Realm like souls and Breaths, aren't susceptible to the effects of anti-Investiture tones. They can be affected by anti-Investiture stabbing, but simply hearing a Physical tone can't break through all 3 Realms.

Moash's Connection to Odium was broken by the Sibling, not the tone. Raboniel felt pain, probably due to the Investiture holding her together existing in all 3 Realms. You couldn't kill her with a tone, though.

My conclusion: Physical sound can effect Physical, and maybe Cognitive Investiture. It can't impact Spiritual Investiture.

As mentioned above, I am fairly certain that Moash's Connection to Odium was temporarily broken through the tone.

However, you make a good point about it being unlikely that an Anti-Preservation Tone being able to remove a Scadrian's spark of life. I feel like something might happen though. At least some extreme discomfort if not a brown out from them.

So if Connection has vibration related to the Intent of the Investiture being transmitted through it, then making a perfectly out-of-phase vibration would silence the Investiture coming through it, halting any ability reliant on that Connection.

Like if you were able to make a perfectly out of phase electrical signal on a phone line, it would go silent, as long as you could make the signal equally strong as the original. And I think that's where the limits of just singing an antitone lies: one human is not going to be able to overpower the Voice of a Shard. If Odium was paying attention to Moash and knew what was going on, he would almost certainly be able to overpower Navani's initial singing of the antitone and reinvigorate moash's emptiness.

Exactly,and I agree with you at the end. I was mostly pointing out that Moash wasn't "barely hurt" by the Anti-Odium Tone.

I think Anti-Preservation Tone would cause Scadrians just headache or nausea. Maybe more intensive for Metalborn.

Moash specifically mentions in chapter 111 that the tone pushed away his Connection to Odium. The one which had taken away his pain/emotions. The Pure Anti-Tone of Odium completely, though temporarily, removed what Odium had done for and to him.

This is my thought, maybe Preservation's tone either kills or removes sapience from Scadrians.

I'm mildly horrified of the thought of a Pure Tone for Preservation/Harmony. We see Moash lose whatever emotion suppression Odium granted him with the Anti-Odium tone, implying she drove away the apparent Voidlight that he had to fuel it. 

Now recall that the sapience of Scadrians is due to them being slightly more invested by Preservation than Ruin. Would an Anti-Preservation tone essentially remove the sapience of a Scadrians? That extra bit is essentially their "spark of life" that investiture sinks like Nightblood can also feed on... In a similar train of thought, could an Anti-Endowment tone involuntarily make a Nalthian a Drab?

Count me in on the Chasmfiends being sapient like other greatshells seem to be party. They definitely don't seem to be simple beasts after seeing the Listeners hanging with one.

I haven't wanted a Moash redemption since Oathbringer. Maybe after Words of Radiance it would have been possible, but definitely not now.

Syl is the last living honorspren "birthed" before Tanavast died. She is of the first generation created by Stormfather when he was bestowed that duty by Honor. The potential specialness of Syl comes from this very specific and unrepeated circumstance. Generations before being made by Honor himself, generations after being made by Stormfather after Honor's death.

My personal thought is that Syl and her generation might have been made more closely connected to Honor and his power due to being among Stormfather's first attempts. Spren still seem to need to learn things so it seems possible that Stormfather made them "too well".

Presumably, a Connector can make Connections between two different entities with themselves and then, since the entities are Connected to them, Connect them to each other. The strength, number, and permanence of which dependent on stored Connection and, probably, savanthood.

What worries me is the potential of a Connector compounder interacting with a Bondsmith. I'd imagine they could potentially do what Ishar attempted with Salinas by building a Connection to their powers and using the Bondsmith powers to make it permanent.

I recommend the Stormlight Archive last considering the references to everything else. Overall I recommend by series:

- Elantris/The Emperor's Soul

- Mistborn (Secret History after Bands of Mourning)

- Warbreaker

- White Sand

- the rest of Arcanum Unbounded (after Words of Radiance or warning about Edgedancer needing to wait)

-The Stormlight Archive

I'm fairly flexible on Warbreaker, White Sand, Elantris, and Mistborn not mattering much for series order. Though I recommend Elantris first because it's a good introduction to Sanderson's writing. Though I am adamant about The Stormlight Archive being last. I read them that way inadvertently, but I would have been lost if I did otherwise after Oathbringer or Words of Radiance.

The Ghostbloods definitely have more ambitious aims, at least some of which likely involve having cognitive shadows become unbound from their planet of origin. I would assume, due to the similarities between spren/seons and cognitive shadows, that unbound seons would therefore be an important thing to study in that regard.

As per what would happen, there have been some WoBs that imply that a seon bond would potentially provide powers like a Nahel bond. Though such powers would be different. How different is anybody's guess.
