@#1 Taln Fan Oh sorry, I wasn't aware of that. I only checked the general spoiler timelines for books before posting. Thank you for pointing it out! (Mistborn era 1 spoiler) That could lead to some interesting scenarios, I would love to see that happen.

I thought about this as well but shouldn't it be the other way around? During Retribution's ascension a part of Honor split from it and flew away. So naturally Retribution should be more Odium than Honor which makes his Intent even more confusing to me. (On the same note, without wanting to sideline the original question: Isn't Harmony more Ruin than Preservation because some of Preservation's power was put into every human on Scadrial? Of course Sazed could have changed that but I am not aware of it)

I recently finished WaT and have been thinking about Retribution's intent as a mix of Honor and Odium. In Coppermind it is described as Odium was all about feelings, so why is the heart of the oath irrelevant to Retribution? (Mistborn era 1 spoiler) (Side note in case it is important: I haven't read The Lost Metal, Yumi or Emberdark yet)

From the album: Fanart
Vin is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time so I just had to draw her! This is a redraw of a piece I scetched around 2 years ago and I really like how it turned out! -

I seem to be the only one who really likes the name Sarene...

It seems that somehow an answer to another question replaced the real question here. Link: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/39-sandersonchat-twitter-qa-with-audiblecom/#e453 Existing Text: Revised Text:

Bad Translations in other Languages
xxcyv replied to Excelsius's topic in General Brandon Discussion
@Excelsius Oh sorry, I overlooked your reference of Warbreaker ^^" I haven't read one of the new releases, but while flicking through SoS the phrase "Hammonder River" catched my eye. I honestly don't remember how it was translated in AoL, but even if it is the same, I personally don't like it when such easily translated phrases are kept in their original language. -
Bad Translations in other Languages
xxcyv replied to Excelsius's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Oh, I hate these translations. They have nothing to do with the books, so why did they give them these titles?! But although the titles of Mistborn 2-4 are nonesense, to me "Kinder des Nebels" ("Children of Mist") is an ok translation for TFE because I think it still fits to the book. Another german translation I absolutely despise is "Sturmklänge" ("Stormsounds") for Warbreaker. But since Brandon changed to a new publisher in Germany my hopes are high that these ridiculous titles come to an end. The titles for SoS and BoM are very close to the original ones so the new publisher seems to care more about them (although they seem to keep more english terms untranslated than the old transators, what I don't really like). -
As soon as you fill a piece of metal with a feruchemical power its allomantic power gets "overwritten" by it. You could say by filling a metalmind you create a new allomantic metal which gives you the power stored in the metalmind. As a result it is not possible to gain both the allomantic and the feruchemical powers when burning just a single piece of metal. So when you burn a steelmind you only get speed and not the ability to push on metals. Because of that compounding pewter would not be as overpowered as you might think. You could potentially push your strengh to a point where you could throw a truck without much effort, but you wouldn't get the extra powers of allomantic pewter such as better sense of balance or unlimited endurance.

But how is he able to reach his goal if he stays on Roshar? Sorry if that's a silly question, but I'm not really into this whole "Odium's evil plan"-thing yet. Either way, I suspect him to try to kill every other shard because of... reasons and I think this could be difficult if he stays on Roshar to keep his full power.

Presumably I will end up reading the english versions in the future, even if it's just because of me being too impatient to wait for the latest translations But I still think this isn't the optimal option because my english is just ok, not very good. I recently played a text based game in english and had to look up several words in a dictionary Google Translate. Sometimes that was really annoying and I'm still hesitating reading a whole book in english because of that. But I'm trying to work on that so hopefully in the (near) future I won't have a problem with it anymore ^^

I have the same problem. Not that I don't understand english but it's always a different experience if you read something in your native language. So I'm still waiting for the german translations of those books like your friends. Fortunately I dicovered the cosmere not long ago, so I have to read a few other books before comming to SoS and BoM but it still worries me a bit that there is no german release date yet. Currently I'm doing a reread of the first Mistborn trilogy and afterwards I'll read WoK and WoR for the first time. After that I planned to continue with the Wax & Wayne books but if until then there still isn't a german release date I see myself forced to give the english versions a try. But don't give up hope. There was a Facebook post from Heyne (the publishing company that releases most of Brandon's books in Germany) some time ago that at least SoS and BoM will be released in Germany in the future.

I had similar thoughts. As soon as Vin was told that Kandras can't be affected by emotional Allomancy I thought "man, this is going to be easy to find out who the Kandra is. Just go and speak to every member of the crew alone while soothing or rioting their emotions very hard so it's obvious that she is manipulating them. If they react to the Allomancy the person is not the Kandra and if they don't react, congratulations, you exposed a Kandra!" But no, Vin wanted the search to be more difficult than that

@Doctor12 That one is amzing, too! Although I liked the first one a little bit better. In this one I miss something like 'God' commanding Zane "Kill him/her!" I am really looking forward to a potential Trailer for HoA ^^

Ah ok, thank you

I think they both used the same command. So how could Vasher keep his Divine Breath while Lightsong lost his? Ok, how do I have to understand that? ^^"
-
At the end of the book we see two Returned giving away their Breath. The first one is Lightsang who sacrifices himself to heal Susebron. As expected he died because of that. But as Vasher is fighting against Denth he only wins because he gives his Breath to him. Why didn't die Vascher like Lightsang? They are both Returned so giving away his Breath should have killed Vasher too, right? I'm sorry if this was discussed before. I just finished the book and the search gave me no results.

Another question on Miles' compounding: I remember Miles burning some gold and thinking about his image created by the metal. But in the way he thought about it it seemed to me that this image of him doesn't appear if he is compounding health. Can anyone enlighten me if while compounding a feruchemical power the allomantic effect of the metal doesn't happen?
-
Well, that's new to me ^^" But good to know

Thats funny, just a few hours ago I thougt about a very similar problem and now you are asking the question here ^^ I think both possibilities are wrong. In AoL Wax pushes against railroad tracks to travel very fast. If you only could push against the surface which is closest to you, he would have shot himself directly upwards, but he hadn't be able to move forward. Same with the center of mass. The center of a milelong metal rod would be too small for Wax to use it to travel a longer distance. Even if we assume that the center of mass of the tracks is like a straight line going through the full length of the track, how does he push against it? I once came up with the idea that the lines could point at every accessable metal near you, but with infinitesimal gaps between them, so there is an almost infinitely number of lines pointing at the same piece of metal, but each one at a slightly different spot. With that you could pick a line which points at the best position and push. This whole "Where do the blue lines point at"-thing bothers me quite some time now ^^
