  1. I believe most authors are influenced by other authors but i didn´t see that many similaritis, but that could be because Weeks was the one who brought me into this kind of fantasy. Personally i find allomanty and chromaturgy(magic from the lightbringer series) kinda similar, actually i only found sandersons books because i was searching for a similar magic system.

  2. I loved the story (Sand mastery is now tied with feruchemy as my favourite magicsystem) but i´m not thrilled about the idea of 9 graphic novels.(i´m assuming one book = 3 graphic novels). Of course i will buy them all, but i can already hear my wallet cry...

  3. Wasn´t the script they use just a sequence of glyphs, somewhere it´s said that they cheat the "no man can read" rule like that? So they don´t have any grammar or tenses. I believe their sentences translate to something like: Eye Sky Highstorm Five (By observing they sky we estimate a highstorm in 5 days). I have no proof for this just my personal interpretation :D

  4. I think Jasnah could really be gay, but i attribute that mostly to her not being married by choice (since as a member of the royal family there are enough people who would want her).

I don´t want to offend you but somehow i read you´re first sentence like you want to say that because Jasnah is an independent, strong willed woman she is gay, also what relevance does the picture have? I don´t see any, but please correct me if i´m wrong (i dont know all fanworks, or official works :D )

  5. I don´t think Endowment has a godmetal but the tears of Edgli are the physical form of her power (seems to me the manifestations of a shards power are tied to the magic system, so there are only godmetals for the shard with ties to the metalic arts).

But maybe nightblood was created from an offworld metal, since Vasher and the rest tried to copy a shardblade. Maybe the managed to steal part of a shardplate (since that is the metal which comes most closely to a shardblade without being one and they wanted to make a new one not reforge one) , it crumbled to dust when the original plate repaired itself and they reforged a blade out of that dust.

  6. Vin, because if she uses the mists she comes really close to a shard in regards to power. No single KR, can fight a shardlevel entity and hope to win. Without the mists the fight could go either way, as long as both have stormlight or metals.Whoever runs out first loses.

  7. Well, even if Hoid is trying to fix Adonalsium, who do you think will actually hold Adonalsium? Hoid himself, Sazed, or one of the other Shards/Slivers? Or will Adonalsium even need to be held? He could become sentient as soon as all the pieces are assembled.

Good points. Personally i believe Hoid doesn´t want to become the next Adonalsium by collecting all shards, mainly because he didn´t try to get Ruin and/or Preservation when they were dropped. If he wants someone else to become the next Adonalsium it propably wont be one of the original shards, mainly because they all seem to dislike him (with maybe Tanavast as an exception but he is dead), but Sazed could be a good choice.

And if Adonalsium doesn´t need someone to hold all shards i believe you would still need a host to fuse all party into one again. Ruin and Preservation stayed split even though they where quite close, they only merged when they were held by one person.

  8. If it was only something like that i don´t believe the other southeners would have been so shocked by it. I admit it doesn´t have to be a proposal (even though i still think so) but it must be something really special, maybe he invited her into his clan or something

  9. I would be happy about any of Sanderson books as a film or TV-series, but i believe Stormlight woud be one of the most dificult to adapt because of the money (GCI would be needed for: the spren, the surges, the wildlife, actually nearly everything). If they make a series or film i think mistborn or warbreaker would be the easiest to adapt

  10. Personally i think Nightblood won´t grant any surges, but i wouldn´t be surprised if it enabled some completly new of magic. Nightblood was an attempt to make a shardblade, but i´m wondering if Vasher knew of the connection between spren and shardblades and if he knew of honorblades.

  11. Actually I remember "Shardblade cut in the Soul, Nightblood cuts on all three realm"... But I may be wrong

I remember it like that as well

I´ve read SSFH yesterday for the first time and started to wonder if Odium could have something to do with the shades. My theory right now is something along the lines that Odium helped create or form Threnody so that the shades take form there. Their actions seem motivated by hate to me (hate against blood, fire and fast movements). Odium hates everyone and everything so it would make sense that he wants everything to suffer (or die). With shades around you can´t warm yourself with a fire if you´re cold, you can´t run from danger and even fighting back is hard if you can´t spill blood.

The idea that Homeland isn´t on Threnody actually fits nicely into my headcanon, since it´s known that there are no shards on Threnody. Odium killed everyone there and then left to kill something else, thereby accidently creating an empty world for the settlers. Theres only one thing i´m not sure about, would a magic system (in this case shades) still work if the shard left the world?

  12. His writing speed can easily be explained with zinc compounding.

Speaking of which- would you like a feruchemical zinc cookie (hemalurgic spike) that enhances reading speed? I promise that this isn't a form of torture designed to rid you of all Sanderson books allowing you to only re-read and RE-READ AND RE-READ. Pinky swear.

Tough Question. I already only need about two days for a 1000 page book but the ability to read Sanderson books again like it´s the first time sounds great :D

Welcome! :D Have you read The Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, and Bands of Mourning yet? They're set in the Mistborn world, just a few hundred years later.

I´ve bought (and read) alloy of law as soon as it came out in german, but shadows and bands don´t even have a german release date as of now...(i´ve already switche to reading the english books to avoid waiting in the future but i don´t like it to have the books of one series in diffrent languaes) :(

  13. Well hello everyone

Some time ago i saw Mistborn, the final Empire in my local bookstore and thought it looked interesting. About two days later i went back into that store and bought the other two Mistborn books of the original trilogy and well three days later i was outraged that there weren´t any other Mistborn books. Now i´ve pretty much read every single cosmere work i could get my hands on and absolutly can´t wait to learn more about the greater story of the cosmere :D  (and i´m trying to find out if Sanderson isn´t realy a single being but some kind of collective which has alreay assimilated nurmerous worlds. I see no other explanation for his writing speed)
