Really? So the metal is like using Aons to access the Dor? That does sound reasonable. But then, what happens when Leechers do their thing? The metal is still supposed to be there, in the Allomancer's stomach, but is changed somehow so that access to the Preservation/Ruin-equivalent of the Dor is blocked? ...I think I've just strayed too far from the original topic. Any recommendations on other threads that discuss this?

I knew someone was going to beat me in proposing this... But totally agree that 'Timbre' is probably Ico's daughter, for all the reasons mentioned above. I'm still a little sad that she's not bonding Eshonai. Eshonai's flashbacks made her seem really adventurous and Willshaper-y.

This is something I have been curious about: the ability of aluminum to shield/cancel forms of magic. Is it any aluminum that does this, regardless of origin, by virtue of its metallurgic properties? Or only aluminum from Scadrial, because the effect requires investiture? Most of the magical negation by aluminum has been seen on Scadrial, where all aluminum is already invested. And I think that the few times it's seen clearly having this effect on another world, it was always provided by someone who was a veteran world-hopper! So is this just the world-hopper providing useful knowledge from their travels and using local metals, or is the world-hopper importing Scadrial metals because that's the only kind of aluminum that will work this way? Hoid has previously mentioned "an entire mercantile ecosystem" based around Scadrial's region of Shadesmar, so I don't think it's entirely out of the question. I'm pretty sure this export of Scadrial metal would be the only way an Allomancer could use their power on another world, but I don't know whether or not the aluminum has to be invested to nullify magic, since it doesn't require 'burning' to be used this way.

So Oathbringer was released last month, which answered some questions above (that's NOT a spoiler. I don't say what the answers are), but I have a question that I didn't see above and I don't know if it's been answered before. It's really a question for Khriss... Is plain old aluminum inherently inert to the magic systems? From my understanding of Investiture, feruchemy and allomancy require metal from Scadrial, because only Scadrial metal has been invested by Preservation. This is correct, right? If an allomancer tries to burn a metal from another world, which I don't think has been tested yet, then nothing happens? Similarly, if a Leecher touches another allomancer, then the metal remains in the stomach, but the Investiture is gone. They are separable. So when a Shard (not Preservation) sets up on/near a world, does all metal of that world become similarly invested? My guess is no, because if that sort of thing carried over, then I would also expect a 'white sand' or 'Tears of Edgli' equivalent on Scadrial, which there isn't. So if only Scadrial metal is invested (or invest-ible?), then must aluminum be from Scadrial to negate otherworldly magic? We only really see aluminum being used in this way (as a shield from magic) on Scadrial, and all aluminum on Scadrial is already invested, but it doesn't require 'burning' to get this effect. So is the magical negation a property of aluminum itself (i.e. if you got aluminum from another world, it would have the same shield effect without being invested)? Or does the shielding require the aluminum to be from Scadrial, and invest-ible, in order to function that way (i.e. one has to bring aluminum all the way from Scadrial to protect against Dakhor magic on Sel)? Has this question already been addressed somewhere?

This may be the wrong thread, but I saw mention of Autonomy here and wanted to ask about this. I reveal my ignorance here, because I don't follow WoB as faithfully as I should, but I know next to nothing about Autonomy other that he exists and it's been much proposed that he's associated with Trell. But I have a couple problems with Autonomy, especially after Bands of Mourning, as I was wondering what others think... and While the Set seems to be all about gaining power to rule Scadrial, it's outward motivation is service to Trell, not throwing off Harmony's leash. It's more of a war from a competing religion, not a revolution of independence like I'd expect from something called Autonomy. In my opinion, these things are the opposite of autonomy, the subjugation of self to the will of another. And I'll admit there is an argument to be made about how much independence (or autonomy! ahem) a Holder has from its Shard's influence. So Bavadin (or possibly a new Holder?) could be using Autonomy's power to do things that Autonomy usually wouldn't. Mistborn alone has scenes that can be used to argue for or against such independence (Vin/Preservation v Rashek/Preservation). But by and large, Shards act in concert with their intent, which makes me want to rule out the Trell/Autonomy theory. Though, I will admit Bleeder appears to be a large exception in my argument, because she doesn't outwardly care about Trell at all. Her motivation is all about giving people, especially Wax, autonomy (assuming that she really was in control and hadn't been made into some sort of Trellian (or Treligist?) slave herself). But I still take issue with some of her Trell-aided actions (spoiler #1) being possible for Autonomy. As far as alternative Shards... Dominion is a tempting alternative, since his (ahem) 'associates' on Elantris were uber-fundamentalists, with a very firm and unquestioning chain of command (like Set>Series>Sequence>Suit?). I'd think this was the Shard in question, if only Dominion hadn't already been splintered, and I can't imagine what it would take to reconstitute the pieces. I'd even like Devotion (which could also be interpreted as willing subjugation, or worship). Except that it appears to conflict so much with what we know of Devotion from Elantris. And also was splintered. What say you? Am I totally off-track with hating on the Autonomy theories?

Greetings and Salutations. I'm new to the forums (obviously), so this is my first post. Feel free to ignore this, I just needed to say it someone who would understand my vision, and my friends are not yet Followers of the great Sanderson... So I'm listening to Warbreaker, yet again, and was struck with inspiration for a GREAT kids' cartoon: Imagine Syl, Pattern and Nightblood (and their bond mates, as supporting characters) fighting to save Roshar from the Voidbringer-of-the-week. The magic! The prosaic good v evil conflict! The side-splitting deadpan commentary!!! I seriously think it would be a hit. On that note: Brandon, if Warbreaker 2 is AT ALL written from Nightblood's PoV, it would really make my decade. "Oh, alright. You can admire me a little bit longer, if you must."
