  1. To me this interesting question has a bit more complex answer than the ones other proposed. Breath seems to work under two different natures. It works like Innate Investiture while It's "parked" in someone soul and as Kinetic Investiture elsewhere (for example while you use to Awake). So I think a Leecher could discharge Breath from awakened Object's/lifeless but no from someone Who Simply hold in his soul. The drain probably could happen also in the meanwhile of a Breath trasfert from people to people. Thanks for make me think again of Breath's nature...I developed some interesting points
  2. Possible Indeed, It didn't work very well with other Cosmere events but Indeed It's possible
  3. Your is a fair point, but to be honest I am really doubtful about. A Shard also with a 10% of his Power could do Almost everything. If your point was true, every Vessel Will be able to fix his string to the Physical (if he misses One of It). So Kelsier as Preservation would be able (probably the Power itself would do It for him) to re-connect himself with the physical. Nothing a mortal magic could do is beyond Shard's possibilities Ruin didn't seems worried about Kelsier, He left him to ho around...If Kelsier would be able to power-up his Control on the Shard. I feel Ruin would crash him at Soon as Kel ascended But It's only a speculation of mine
  4. @Aaronator17(i am unable to remove this mention from mobile...But It has no meaning here). Calderis the body helps but didn't fix the problem, you could probably find a WoB on Returneds Who have still problem to worldhop (and they have a body). A cognitive Shadow could worldhop but It's still difficoult. About the Vesselhood remember that a Cognitive Shadow is a poor Vessel. Kelsier also with all' the Connection provided by Ire's orb. Have problem to claim the Shard...The Shard find him a poor Vessel and try to find a Better Vessel, a great amount of Preservation's Power was also out of his Control.
  5. @Aaronator17 yeah sorry, It's was my fault too
  6. @Hawkido Fortune isn't a Shard is a Cosmere's mechanic like Identity or Connection. This is the reason It's not accounted in the Shards list. Returning to your point I think the word searching isn't really meaningful. Some words are common than others...You can't honestly extrapolate too much from It. For example Preservation as Word is never mentioned into The Final Empire. I find also funny how you could ignore some solid informations to simply use the Words count as prove. I noticed you took the others posts and ignore the solid parts to Attack the weaker....But this don't remove the other solid part behind. You also ignore explicit WoB about how the Fjorder is influenced by Dominion. So honestly what do you want as counterproof? With your Logic I could probably take as proof every random fact for a theory. PS: Elantris was written more than 10 years ago. He could not even decided Ambition's name there...Or Dominion too.
  7. Possible but unlikely to me, so you if you assume the "Evil" was the Ambition's Splinter (or Splinters). Why did it become malevolent ? And why only after thousands of years (there are at least 4-5 thousands of years without any kind of problem) ? If this bad Splinter is so malevolent to destroy the Therenody's people, why did he not simply follow them to continue ? Yeah Kel could be a good Vessel for Ambition but again, there is no reason for him to "have to be" Ambition's Vessel. Notice also Kel is probably changed from the one we know, centuries as Cognitive Shadow probably changed him, it's mainly a Cognitive Being (like a Spren)....His being is more flexible to outside influence than a living being. But this is tangential. Again the whole point of at least a page of posts, show you how this is very unlikely. I would say actual impossible.

    Time travel?

Technically it's not really in that way...The Soul drains energy from somewhere (I can't honestly say where) to return to its original status while it's not affected by magic....So "something" spreads powers everytime you performe Feruchemy.
  9. Ambition didn't leave a meaningful amount of Power on therenody (for a Shard's standard) or the Planet would exibit the typical sign of an Invested Shard. Maybe a single (or multiple) Splinter of Ambition was left there (if we want to be a bit exagerate, something Stormfather or Nightwatcher level) but it would be nothing compared to a Shard. I want to add a simple other point....We can't actually know if Scadrial was there or not at the time of D&D's murder or the Ambition's one. It's possible, but we have no clues about for now. Anyway the Ire were on Scadrial's CR (very far from the center but still in Scadrial's region) so it seems a Therenody's border is really close to a Scadrial's one but this tell us quite nothing about a Sel
  10. This make clear you don't understand how the Cosmere and the Realmatic Theory work and you are twisting and mixing things together only to try to cancel all the counterproofs aganist your theory. - A Shard hasn't really a choice to invest or not. This would happen naturally over the time if he remain too long in the same places (and here we are talking at least of 5 thousand years) once this happened after a while the mere Shard's presence will make magic arose on the place...this is the reason I showed you that D&D as source of all Selish Magic is alone a proof of the absence of other Shards there (notice also that with Ambition's splintered there is no mind to try to mitigate this default process). - Odium will never leave a Shard also a mortal wounded one flees away. At the Vessel's death the Shard could be picked by someone else and this in the end will simply turn all Odium's effort meaninless. Much more Odium seek to kill Ambition because He saw in the Shard (not the Vessel) a great problem to himself, so simply replacing the Vessel would be useless to him....On this point notice also that Khriss states Ambition was splintered so no doubt, Ambition was really Splintered. his power will ravage out of control in the Cognitive Realm like D&D's ones. For the nature of Spiritual Realm and Shard's Investiment.....I really doubt Odium could "lose" an enemy Shard once they began to clash. - Notice also if you are proposing a Preservation-like's death for Ambition. Khriss states the Shards' death before Leras were rapid not a long bleeding death like Leras' one and this just because Ruin didn't know how to properly Splinter a Shard. Something Odium knows (and knowed from before Ambition's murder because we know he used to kill D&D).
  11. No @Hawkido you are simply ignoring the points. Khriss isn't the only source, we KNOW from the author that the magic on Sel is powered by D&D, We KNOW the Dor is made by D&D's power, a Splintered shard isn't something subdule....It's an insane amount of power. You can't simple don't see it. If Ambition's power is on Sel there will be in the Dor like the others. Much more we have a WoB (Spool provided before but http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=727/#31 ) we saw the influence of only 4 Shards other than R&P (it was before SA's release) and this are confirmed to be Devotion, Dominion, Endowment and Odium. The first three for their actual role on Sel and Nalthis and the last one for his role in the current Sel's situation. A Shard, whole or splintered is something you could not miss on a planet. It's probably impossible for an Arcanist to miss it. You could see this isn't a denial to Ambition on Sel, but it's actually is. The next point could be debated, but it's quite meaningless because there are also solid information (the ones before) on the topic: Just as last note, D&D's murder is a fact older than Ambition's one....so if Khriss and the Scholar's comunity has a information about D&D, they has probably information about Ambition too. For example, Khriss didn't mention they don't know Ambition's location.

    Time travel?

Simply place two Skimmers at the ledger's side. Make them Store alternately, their weights will make the ledger move and this motion could be used to generate energy (like we did every day with the engines)
  13. @Hawkido this is frustrating, did you skip all the other my points or Spool's one ? We have implicit mentions of this. But it seems to me you will continue to say we have no counterproof until someone could provide an explic wob "Ambition isn't on Sel". It's like to say that Dockson had to be an Durallumin Misting only because we don't have an explicit counterproof
  14. @Hawkido I don't understand how could you read all I wrote to you, with the references and say "there are not counterexample". I think I can't explain the Cognitive Shadow's status better than I already did in the previous post, but just to make it clear again: - Wax,Szeth, the new Azish's emperor, Jasnah (and probably other characther who recived Healing after their death and are restored to life) are NOT Cognitive Shadow and be a Cognitive Shadow is not a temporarily thing. Now returning to something I could actually expand, the Ambition and Sel: - Sel is a Dishardic Shardworld, this mean there are two Shards on it (Khriss's essay on Selish System) and they are Devotion and Dominion - We know all the magic systems on Sel are actually sub-region expression of the same magic system fueled by D&D - All the WoB I explicity provided in my previous reply explain how the Wyrm and Fjordel are influenced by Dominion. All this things together removes all the possibility for Ambition to be on Sel and this is without touch the Realmatic Side. If we considerate that side too, there are still other proofs. PS: notice also that simply searching the reference to a word to find a Shard is something really useless also if we don't have explicit counterproofs
  15. The Identity doesn't work in that way. It's not Memories/personality/ecc of someone. Identity It's Just someone "serial code" and dictates how much the Investiture's Interference works between Investitures. (If you read BoM there is a Nice explaination about)
  16. Dilaf too is far older than Hrathen, He used the Dahkor's magic to change his look and infiltrate in Elantris years before the City's fall. Also I want to exploit this reply to add some informations:
  17. In the Cosmere there are two steps of death. The first is the physical death, the body dies and the Aspects start to separate, the Bonds are probably released "now". After an X amount of time the Mind+Soul are completelly severed by the Body. Before this happen using Healing on the subject could "resurrect him" and we are all ok...we see this I think 3-4 times in the books and Szeth is one of this cases. After this X amount of time (that depend by the level of Subject's Investiture) the physical is totally severed by the rest and no Healing could help, the Mind+Soul will reaches the Beyond unless for some reason the subject manage to become a Cognitive Shadow, this condition happen when your Souls is permeate to a lot of Investiture and the Investiture itself replace your own and you become essentially a Spren of yourself. This automatically happen with Slivers but could be triggered with other methods (like Kelsier did). NOW a Cognitive Shadow is a two Realms being but could be attached to a body with some methods...this don't change the fact you are still a Cognitive Shadow with or without a body. Like I said Returneds and Heralds are Cognitive Shadows, and you could see how they have both a physical body. For the Cognitive Shadow and Spren leave their planets is hard but not impossible, they are tied to the world by the Investiture now composes their being....Is it possible for a CS to worldhop ? Yes we know and saw Returned does it. But it's not easy and this don't mean they are no more Cognitive Shadows. And again the Elantrian are all another matter, they never died and they were never resurrected. Their body is simply struck in the middle of a trasformation (the Reod one of course). I already explained before but just to clarify. Bonds are probably realeased into the physical death not the higher one. Nale itself mentions how Szeth's mind was still in the timeframe of recover (He cites the "brain was still working" or something like that). Nale has no reason (or maybe pratical knowledge) to explain the whole death process to Szeth. You could notice also how on WoR's ending Sadeas's blade appear some moments later his death. While we know there are some time between the physical death and the beyond. On this last note, but it's really meaningless. Szeth severed the bond with the Blade of his own will before die once he realize to be Truthless unfairly. @HawkidoI will avoid to cite all the part about Ambition on Sel but we know on Sel there are two Shards Devotion and DOMINION (you simple ignored him from my post) and all the reference to the Dor is about D&D's power. You could not ignore the whole Brandon,Khriss and pratical evidence on the matter. IF Ambition was there, is broken power would be so huge to expands everywhere like D&D's one.
  18. Ehm no man, once CS you are a CS. It's meaningless if you manage to stampe yourself in the physical (like Kel DID) you are still a Cognitive Shadow (notice that others example of CS are the Heralds and the Returneds) and Yes Kel manage to get a Shard using the Ire's orb but as you could see the Shard Simply resistenza him to be used also if he was Connected enough....Ruin himself explains to Kelsier that a Shadow is a poor Vessel for a Shard. Kelsier was naturally tied to Ruin and a bit of Preservation....Then He Ascend to Preservation itself and He is now a Silver of Preservation. This could work aganist him in ascending into another Shard...I don't know. Again Kelsier and Szeth are two different phenomens. Szeth has never really die (for the Cosmere's Deep meaning) He was restored Before his ties to the physical were cutted, he was not a Cognitive Shadow. Kelsier instead was Dead for good and he exploited the Well to performe some kind of "sliverification". The Well's Investiture replace his own...In the end he (like all' the others Shadows) is some kind of "spren". I Lost you there...Why Ambition have to be in Sel? I see no evidence or clue about. On Sel we have the corpse or Devotiome and Dominion. They were killed Before Ambition was. Their broken Powers became the Dor and no one (Brandon, Khriss,ecc...) Never mention Ambition in the Sel's context. Notice that whatever Ambition actually died. That Place Will be full of Ambition's power
  19. Ire's Fortress was still inside Scadrial's Cognitive Realm and as you said Kel pushed himself ti reach It while the Scadrial's pull becomes stronger as he go farther
  20. Kelsier Will have multiple problems to Ascend to Ambition: - He is a Cognitive's Shadow so a bad Vessel. - He is tied to Scadrial and Harmony, he could overcomed this issue but still It could work aganist him in the elegibility to Vesselhood. - Ambition is splintered and we (and maybe the Cosmere's people) don't know where his/her Power is. - If Ambition's remains are in Open space...noone could reach them through the Cognitive and you Need to physical Travel there to operate on them

    Why do shards invest?

If he defeats Cultivation. He could dedicate all his Force to recover Investiture. If he leaves now....Cultivation would be probably able to kill him. PS: notice this is only a possibility, no concrete proof behind
  22. Dead souls aren't Black, there is no difference at all between a Dead and living soul. Much more Nightblood doesn't corrupt(with the context of meshing Shard's Investiture) Upon cut...It merelly cut Upon target's physical, spiritual and cognitive.
  23. Yata

    Why do shards invest?

I think a Shard could leave a Place where he invested into...But Unless ne manage to de-invest It. He Need to cut off a portion of self to leave. This could be the reason Odium is still there...If he leave he would become weaker and his goal would be impossibile
  24. Not Connection alone. Rashek was more connected to Preservation than Vin. But everyone in the Cosmere may have a connection to Preservation...Simply the Scadrial have a advantage for their origin.
  25. I am with Spool, notice that Mist aren't for default usabile by everyone. So if Harmony let you do It...You could. But honestly this is something every Shard could do. PS: Ruin's mist and Preservation's Mist is probably the same to fuel foreign magics
