  1. From the Coppermind (emphasis added): "Other entities speculated to be Unmade include Sja-anat, Nergaoul, Moelach, Dai-gonarthis, and Re-Shephir. "It is likely that there have been several more Unmade referenced that have simply not been named as such. Re-Shephir,[4] the Midnight Mother, and Dai-gonarthis,[5] the Black Fisher, seem likely candidates. They have hyphenated names in the same style as Yelig-nar's, along with a title like his. All three of these beings are also described as having to do with "consuming". There is another potential member as well, "the black piper in the night," seen by Cenn in a death vision.[6] The black piper bit is reminiscent of Re-Shephir and Dai-gonarthis, who were also referenced in death visions. Sja-anat [7] is another possible unmade. "One possibility that has been raised is that the Unmade are the opposites of the Heralds, servants of Odium as the Heralds served Honor. "By symmetry with the Surgebinding diagram, the powers of the Voidbinding diagram appear also to be associated with faces, which have been theorized to be the Unmade. This would suggest that the Unmade are connected to the individual voidbinding powers. "The names of the Unmade are similar to those of demons/false gods in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Nergaoul is similar to Nergal, a Babylonian war god, and Moelach is similar to Moloch, a Carthaginian god to whom children were supposedly sacrificed. Re-Shephir is similar to Resheph, a Caananite god of darkness and pestilence. Dai-gonarthis is similar to the Phoenician sea-god Dagon. It has been speculated that there is some connection between the names of the Unmade and their powers. Nergaoul causes the Thrill, and is similar to a war god. Moelach prompts Taravangian to kill the weak, and is similar to Moloch, to whom children were sacrificed. Re-Shephir is called the "Midnight Mother" and might have created the shadow-creatures known as Midnight Essences , which would be appropriate for a deity of darkness. Dai-gonarthis bears the title "Black Fisher," which is appropriate for a sea god."
  2. In the Stormlight Archive, in WoK, the little quotes (epigraphs?) before chapters are known as Death Rattles. And they are important in-world because Taravangian wants to collect them, and they have something to do with the ever-mysterious unmade (evil spren-like beings named after Judeo-Christian-era demons and false-gods). But to us readers, they are valuable sources of foreshadowing. And I was looking at them on Coppermind, and saw this one: Aside from the fact that it was spoken by a cobbler (RIP Ym), those of us who have read the preview chapters of Oathbringer can connect the Rattle to An example that may have already happened is this: If you've read WoK, you know what I'm referring to. So... thoughts? Ideas? Observations? Input? "No, bleeder, you're wrong"? It's sort of out there, but, then again, so is Brandon. Think on it. (Yes, I know this should've been put in the SA section, but I wasn't thinking about that at the time. Sorry.)
  3. Me, being that one guy from Tennessee, like "I wish I lived in exotic places"
  4. Please, let's do. And I'm sorry your day has been so cremmy. I get the feeling. But, like I says to Twi, you always have your Shard family if you need us.
  5. Ok, there's this band called Dawes. They're sort of indie/rock/folk/alt. They're my favorite band of all time. Anyone know of them? If not, listen to them.

  7. Aren't we all?
  8. Hullo! Welcome to the Shard, Adurna! The number one piece of advice I can provide is to protect Renarin Kholin, Allik Neverfar, and Steris Harms with your life and never let any harm come to them not think too much on anybody's theories; you'll get a headache.
  9. Antigone: girl wants to bury dead brother/uncle (incest problems), but king says brother/uncle is a traitor and refuses him burial. Girl buries him anyway, is imprisoned, and kills herself. Greek drama, everyone.
  10. Anytime. My namesake might be an insane Hemalurgic creation with a messed-up way of showing that it cares, but I'm not! Here for you, whenever you need.
  11. I'm glad you could vent all this. Your Shard family is here for you if you ever need anything. I mean, we can't come over for a cup of coffee and a chat, but you can post and we'll do all we can to help. *Hug*
  12. Sweet! I don't even need to do anything. I can just tap my Luck (literal Luck, not Vin's Luck) and watch the target's chandelier crash down from above their heads.
  13. @Assassin in Burgundy are we like, Shin Assassins? Or can we be assassins from anywhere in the cosmere? Because if so, the Assassin in Xanadu is an Iron/Chromium Twinborn.
  14. Kaymyth, I do believe that we shall get along swell.
  15. I don't think he realizes how hard (bordering on impossible) it'll be to pass his idiotic schemes through the Supreme Court. Or the citizens, for that matter.
  16. Oh, dude. That's terrible. I hope my country doesn't harm you... Also, Trump plans to cut off funds to any city in the nation that does not comply with his rulings. And he says he'll "make" Mexico pay for a border wall, but then he says if they refuse to, he'll back off. What the actual chull.
  17. I'm thinking more like luck affecting probability or luck affecting fortune. Good observation, though! To quote Khriss, "This demands further study."
  18. I've always loved the idea of being able to influence luck. So I guess that's why I love chromium Feruchemy so much. But I can never figure out if it's altering luck (chance, gambling, the roulette wheel's spin, et c.), or fortune (an enemy's gun jamming, runaway bandits tripping over rocks, et c.). Input?
  19. Oh, sensible human beings. Haven't seen one of those in a while. *nostalgic sigh* But thanks for the advice.
  20. Why is this crossed out it's the truest advice you can give
  21. Ok, so... totally hypothetical situation here. Say you're a freshman in high school. Just a dude trying to survive his first year, right? And you have a best friend, and she means a lot to you. Now, say a junior comes in. And he likes you. And he's, you know, mildly attractive, and has a good personality, and all that. And he wants to go out with you. (In this totally hypothetical situation, the main character is bisexual) And you think, Ok, sounds good, I'll give this guy a chance But your best friend, like, thinks this guy is awesome, and wants you and other guy to date. Would it be irrational to fear that best friend will replace you with other guy as her new best friend? Hypothetically, of course.
  22. I did not, but I wish I did Thank you Delightful, you make really quality, considerate threads.
