  1. Why would he do that? He has no connection to Nalthis, and seeing as he decided to move to Roshar and has been actively helping out the Kholins and Kaladin, I'd think that he would fight for Roshar, depending on who the aggressor was. If Roshar decided to invade Nalthis, he might side with Nalthis, but it would only be because of his sense of morality, not any favor towards Nalthis. A lot of his painful memories are from there, and I doubt that he'd want to help them conquer some random Shardworld.
  2. Maybe it is made of aluminum, which could help explain the corrupted Investiture? I'm not overly supportive of the aluminum-negates-Investiture theory, but this seems like it could support it.
  3. Technically, the Command is "Replicate using the surrounding resources," which allows the BAM to move off world through Lashings, worldhopping, Allomantic spacecraft, and even the normal spacecraft we have IRL. If a BAM gets a hold of some nukes, they could even build an Orion pulse drive. They would probably just nuke everyone, though.
  4. It wields Nightblood, at least in my version that doesn't follow the no-super-invested-objects rule... It's already made of an aluminum/titanum single-crystal superalloy, so that's impossible. ^^ This would work.
  5. Does anyone want to be the assassin that's trying to kill me? A cloaking device could explain how they went unnoticed.
  6. Technically, that was a fragment, so it doesn't count.
  7. Roshar might try to evacuate its population to another world to escape the Everstorm, which would provide a reason to invade someone. Nalthis or Sel would likely be the best targets.
  8. Sorry, I didn't know that you were supposed to post here first... Name: Faolin Nirdaesa Race: Human Height: 6'2" Weapons: A custom blue lightsaber, usually a blaster, and whatever else is on hand. Ship: He goes through ships really fast, as they tend to get destroyed. He doesn't usually name his ships, as they are destroyed often enough that he doesn't bother. Abilities: He has terrible Force sensitivity when compared to the Jedi, and can barely execute a decent Force Push, but has excellent precision in using the Force. Personality: Basically a more cheerful Kaladin. Background: He was raised by the Jedi in the hopes that he would be a powerful Force user, but once he started training, it became clear that he had very little connection to the Force. He was later dismissed from the New Jedi Order for his lack of powerful Force abilities and for lacking the ability to contain his emotions, and has roamed the galaxy for various reasons ever since. Appearance: Brown hair and light grey eyes.
  9. Are the worlds allowed to ally? A Roshar/Scadrial alliance would be incredibly broken...
  10. Faolin stood on the charred surface of what had once been a vibrant planet. Coruscant, now called the Graveyard. He lingered for a few minutes, contemplating the fragility of even the most powerful empires. He turned, briskly walking towards his Sentar-class fighter. He had always wondered why Relias, the shipyard owner who had sold him the ship, had called it a fighter. It was far to large to be considered any sort of fighter, and its capabilities far outclassed one. It more resembled a small Corvette, although it only required a crew of one to operate. He had not named this vessel; he had run out of good names several ships ago, and none of them seemed to last long enough for naming to be important. As he walked through the Airscreen, an energy barrier between the ship's atmosphere and whatever was outside, a sudden whistling sound made him flinch. A narrow, silvery dart shot past his face, missing by a matter of millimeters. He spun, only to see nothing. Breathing rapidly, he tried to carefully observe the area, as he had learned at the New Jedi Temple. Unbidden, memories of his brief career as a Padawan resurfaced, and he recalled the painful memories of how terrible a Jedi he had been. When he had finally been dismissed from the order, he had felt a mixture of disappointment, and strangely, relief. He was not terribly powerful with the Force, in fact, quite the opposite. He had not mastered the art of large displays of power, pushing enemies back with a mere thought, and this put him at a disadvantage. He had instead focused on the delicate uses of the Force. It surprised him that no one had thought to use the Force to dissolve molecular bonds, but the practice had turned out to be extremely useful. No one but him had thought to use the Force to pinch off the nerves in an enemy's brain, but it was just as effective as a lightsaber to the head. His masters had cited various reasons for his dismissal; at the foremost, he had apparently been "too emotional." Well, how could they expect him to rid himself of all emotion? Emotions were what made him, and everyone else, human. Well, a more proper term would be "sentient beings," but he had never cared to get social definitions right. But the point was, if you were supposed to feel no emotion, then how could you care for others enough to protect them? He dispelled such dark and gloomy thoughts and returned to the task at hand. Someone was trying to kill him. Right. He jumped the remaining distance through the Airscreen and sprinted through the doorway that led to the bridge. He flicked a hand at a control screen, bringing it to life, and the ship began to rise. Before long, he was speeding through the ashy remnants of Coruscant's atmosphere, on an optimal trajectory to reach orbit.
  11. AFAIK, before Ishar bound the Surgebinders so that they would have to follow certain Ideals exclusive to their orders, they could basically do whatever they wanted, as long as their spren didn't mind.
  12. My thoughts exactly. More seriously, it's probably just an Easter Egg.
  13. Yeah, I've figured out a lot of really twisted things you can do with the various magic systems and plenty of Investiture.. Most of them make nukes look like BB guns. I once made up a version of the Big-Awakened-Monster (BAM) where the entire body would be as Invested as the the Bands to give it full compounding powers, as well as thousands of tiny Hemalurgic spikes to give it intelligence and strength attributes. It also had an immense supply of Atium and Lerasium for Allomantic and Feruchemic purposes. It would also have access to all 10 Surges, be able to Forge stuff, have access to every Breath on Nalthis, and be able to Soulcast miniature versions of itself as minions. Oh, and a molecularly perfect gemheart would be encased inside it, with some sort of Entanglement fabrial to directly link it to the Highstorms.
  14. Dalinar - Leader Kelsier - Co-leader and strategist Eshonai - Co-leader and strategist Elend - Strategist and general fighting Jasnah - Researcher, scout and Soulcaster Shallan - Spy and Soulcaster Navani - Team motivator and fabrial expert Adolin - Strategist and general fighting Kaladin - Aerial support, general fighting and Gloombringer Szeth - Aerial support and general fighting Khirss - General Cosmere knowledge Vasher - General Cosmere knowledge, plus information about how to hack magic systems TenSoon - Spy and assassin OreSeur - Spy and assassin Lift - Stormlight generation Vin - General fighting Wax - Crasher and general fighting Wayne - For when you need more time and general fighting Axies - Spren knowledge and living notebook for when low on paper (although Jasnah or Shallan could just Soulcast some) Shai - Forger Lopen - Team motivator and the one (well, two now) armed Herdazian stuck to the wall Rock - Cook (Soulcasting produces horrible food) and archer Taravangian - Intelligence (sometimes) Mraize - Cosmere knowledge and access to Ghostblood resources Hoid - Master of disguises, Cosmere expert, witty joke maker, the list goes on and on. Brandon - Ultimate knowledge of the Cosmere and basically the God Beyond I would also have a team of a few generic Steel compounders, Gold compounders, Zinc compounders and maybe a Crasher or two. Each member of the group would have their own Shardblade (except for the Radiants) and Shardplate, pistol and rifle variations of Vindication, as well as an earring or other small Hemalurgic Spike for contacting Harmony. If any Honorblades are available, they can be either used by the team or by the creature below. The heavy fighting would be done by a creature of my own invention: 1. Aquire a dead Koloss (the biggest you can find) in good condition 2. Stick it in some Shardplate 3. Soulcast the Koloss into an aluminum/titanium single-crystal superalloy that is molecularly bonded with the Shardplate 4. Awaken it with the command, "Destroy Evil" "Follow this group's orders" 5. Have it bond a few Honorblades if possible, or two Shardblades 6. Embed a fully-infused gemheart inside it (this can be used to fuel either Honorblades or Shardplate) 7. Embed a few fabrials inside it, such as an Investiture-draining one (Hatham used one to make his rings glow faintly, so these exist) to take the place of a Larkin. 8. Somehow convince one of the spren that inhabit greatshells' gemhearts to bond with the creature, making it stronger and lighter. 9. ???? 10. Profit An alternate version of this could be Awakened with the command, "Replicate using surrounding resources," dropped on a barren planet, and having a bunch of Pulsers (Cadmium Mistings) stretch time for a few years until there's an army of these... things... waiting for the special forces group to use them. The best solution would be to just have Brandon never write the story of the mysterious enemy.
  15. You want to... nuke the Bering Strait? How may Fissionspren would be attracted to that? I have a few ideas for jokes, and I'll have to type them up and PM them to you when I get some time.
  16. we're taking willingness to fight out of the scenario, then what's stopping the Stormfather from creating a Highstorm on top of the Scadrian army?
  17. Those points are pretty good, and you've mostly convinced me. However, there are still a few points in favor of Roshar: Most Scadrians, who are generally peaceloving, would not want to travel to a distant planet to fight a war. The reason of slavery seems too weak to me, as the same thing could be accomplished by diplomacy. I think that the Stormfather would help Roshar in such a war, as he accepts Kaladin's oath at the end of WoR, albeit reluctantly, and even bonds Dalinar. With the Voidbringers and the Everstorm, he was afraid because he knows how powerful Odium is, but he would easily be able to crush the Scadrian army. Although, realistically, the Scadrians would probably end up helping Roshar against the Voidbringers, if the Desolation is still ongoing by Era 2. I also really like the theory that Roshar gets evacuated to Scadrial, and if they find a way to use the Mists for Stormlight, it would be very interesting to see how Surgebinding and fabrials interact with the Metallic Arts, especially for Mistborn Era 4, which is set in a sci-fi-ish world.
  18. EDIT: Ah a glitch didn't show your response.
  19. Rock never said anything about corrosiveness, and I assume that the Horneaters get their water from there, so I would think that they would notice if people started disintegrating. The mineral water wouldn't be very good for them, but not to the point where they all melt. Delicate metal weapons, however, would be affected through rust.
  20. How does having water on the surface correspond to that? He doesn't mention corrosive water, just that there is mineral water on the surface. Mineral water is corrosive, but that doesn't mean that everything with mineral water in it is a Shardpool.
  21. According to Rock, there is a layer of mineral water on the surface of the Shardpool, which is especially corrosive.
  22. Oops, I accidently downvoted this. Why are the arrows so close together??? Someone please upvote that! We're also assuming that the people of Elendel wouldn't revolt because of a draft to invade another planet, which sounds pretty fanciful to an ordinary person. If that happened on Earth, I would be wondering what my leader was smoking.
  23. A common enemy united the highprinces. The Parshendi weren't very threatening to the Alethi, which is why there were border squabbles back at home, but the Scadrians would be seriously threatening, which would force the Alethi to unite even more.
  24. The Horneaters might just as easily assume that they were from the bad part of their mythology. A random person with minor magical abilities that appears out of nowhere, and who has no backstory in mytholody? Sounds like a demon! I should also mention that few of the Allomantic or Feruchemic abilities are very spectacular, in terms of godlike powers. There would be little reason for a Metalborn to use the powers that can be seen by observers unless they are attacking Horneaters, which would just cause the group that controls the land around the Shardpool to pick off soldiers emerging from it one by one. Once the Alethi heard about this, they would offer "help" to the Horneaters and send a few Shardbearers and a bunch of archers to help them kill the soldiers as they swam out of the pool. Also, emerging from a pool of water is not good for guns...
