The genre of the song is metal--specifically, we were going for symphonic metal, so more along the lines of Nightwish, Epica, or Within Temptation--which seemed appropriate for a song about Allomancers using their metals. So, in a way, both.

Hello fellow Sandersonians! I just heard about the community here and think it's awesome. I'm pretty much of the opinion that Sanderson is the best author ever. At least, I can't think of anything I'd prefer to read over one of his. I haven't read the Wheel of Time books, but I've read all of Sanderson's other works. At least once. About me...My name is Erin, I'm in my early twenties, and I live in Austin, TX with my hubby, Robert. We like to write and record songs together, dabble in other creative arts, rock climb, and hang out with our two kids, Tiernan (2yrs) and Kestrel (2mnths). We were the ones who sent Mistborn metal song to Sanderson that he linked to on his blog. We were super excited that he not only listened to our song, but also mentioned it there. I was in the middle of re-reading Well of Ascension when Robert suggested we try a fantasy-based metal song for an online competition, and I loved the idea of writing a metal song about Allomancers.
