  1. You know when I read this part the first thing that came into my mind was the binding of Fenrir the dread wolf. For those who don't know Fenrir is a super wolf from the Norse mythology who was bound by a chain made of among other things a woman's beard.

My thinking about this chain is that somehow this is a mixture of several different forms of investment including breaths and stormlight that may be paradoxical enough to have the power to bind and hold anything and everything. As such it could be a dawnshard or it could just be a general investment inhibitor.

  2. 3 hours ago, Steeldancer said:

Honorblades used to provide direct connection to Honor. I know that because I got the WoB that says so.

They don't anymore, I think. But still.

Also, what was up with that Odiumblade? It was a little freaky.

So my interpretation is that the Odiums blade worked on the similar principle as capturing spren. However, what the blade captured was either the soul of Jezrien or , more likely, the divine aspect granted to Jezrien by Honour which sent his soul to Braize after he died. If he somehow captured that blessing bestowed by honour then Jezrien soul would not go to Braize but would pass on and that would result in a permanent death.

  3. So at this point we know that there will be four major mistborn arcs. The final arc will be a space opera that will have FTL. The question then is that how might this FTL work.

One of the major problems against FTL is that proposed by Einstein ( I think). If I remember rightly, it basically stated that any increase in speed results in a gain of mass and slowing of time for that object due to this phenomenon FTL travel is impossible. This is because at the speed of light the gain of mass has become so much that time, for that object, effectively stops. As far as I can remember, this is the gist of it.

Now, how I might the Scadrians overcome this problem. Simple answer, Iron Feruchemists. As per Copper mind, Iron stores physical mass. Somehow the people of Scadrial are going to figure out how to apply Feruchemists outside of their own bodies. The spaceships can then be divested of their gained mass and allowed to reach faster than light speeds. Propulsion of the ships could also be done through various means including a combination of Nicrosil and Steel.

  4. So let me just scream first

    AWESOME.

There were some things that really stood out.

Character evolution of Steris was beautiful and satisfying to watch.

That hotel scene had me spontaneously laughing while my family gave me weird looks.

That final battle. It's pace the actions. The plot twists. It was rusting awesome.

But the best thing for me was the final word of the book.

    'Survive'

    That was truly shiver inducing.

  5. Ok so wild theory time.

Adonalsium was an ancient all powerful being that shattered at the beginning of the cosmere and created the 'interesting' situations that we are seeing. What most people seem to think is that Adonalsium's shattering was external but my sleep deprived mind thinks that there might be another possibility.

So we know from a WoB that Shards can intentionally create splinters of themselves. That's how we have the original spren on Roshar and how we have the preset spren of Cultivation. So my theory is that Adonalsium for some reason shattered itself. The reason may be that his power was too unstable. Another theory of mine is that each shard tries to mold a person into its own image. This is a forced change. Maybe Adonalsium became afraid, angry or suicidal at this force upon him and decided to stop him. Another possible theory is that Hoids was a friend of his that he trusted. They were trying to change the nature of his power. The method was somewhat like that implied in WoR of taking something apart and then rejoining it. Maybe that was the purpose of the shattering but at the moment of it a team of sixteen individuals possibly lead by Rayse emerged and took that power for themselve.

This is all speculation caused by excessive coffee. Please poke holes

  6. Ok so the truth about what the Dawnshards have been bugging me for a long time. I have finally come up with what may be something considerable. So Brandon once said that Shards can create spren intentionally. He stated that Adonalsium prior to his shattering came to Roshar and left some of his spren there. Now Adonalsium was the amalgamation of all shards. What do we know about the Dawnshards? ' known to bind any creature whether voidish or of Honour'(not completely accurate but the host is there). Now if a power has to have authority over some being it must be able to compel it. Adonalsium's sprens would have that ability. So my theory is that the Dawnshards are the spren of Adonalsium.

Feel free to destroy this theroy

  7. One thing that may be possible. Maybe making almost all of his family surge binders was the curse. It may in the end lead to internal squabbling or it may put them in the path of difficult decisions. This decision may also lead to one or all of them dying on the path of duty except Dalinar to whom the powers then seem like a curse. This could be his turning to the dark side moment. Improbable but possible.

  8. Re Reading firefight and thought that the thing that prof really did not want to be is someone evil he hates epics for what they do and tries to run away from everything they become. So his weakness is that if someone convinced him that he is evil or that he is the bad guy then he loses power. Just think about it Prof was motivated into fighting epics by, among other things , slaughter of his students at an epics hand so the task of the reckoners may be to convince prof that he has become evil. Value and Exels death may have been rationalised by Prof as right because he thought of them as below him and so thought it his right to inflict punishment on those who annoyed him. It may take the death of someone close to prof to maybe shock him out of his powers and that someone may be Tia

  9. I recently posted about how Shinovar is about to be destroyed nut now o think that the exact opposite is going to happen. The everstorm 8s not a new thing remember the ending of WoR where Jasnah asks 'so the everstorm has come' (don't have book in me so exact wording may be wrong). She seemed to expect the Everstorm. This shows that the everstorm is not 100%. Only one thing has changed in the past its coming changed the parshmen but this time it is the power that changes them. So the everstorm is not new. This means that Shinovar has had to weather storms in the past but it is also problematic because a single desolation is enough to change Shinovar in such a way that it could never go back to what it was. It would strip away the top soil and that would be the end of Shinovaran vegetation. This would mean death for most of its animals. We also know that Shinovar is not something that is new but it is as old as (at least) the Knights radiant this because this is the place where original horses had to come and the radiant as we know had Ryshadium. So Shinovar is old and it has weathered storms before which leads to the explanation that it may be a safe hold created by the Heralds that provided humanity a place from where to seek shelter during the terrible and opposite storms of the desolations. It has been granted magical protection by honor and cultivation and the stone shamans may have been created (as a group) by the heralds to protect the refugees it must bear this explains their aversion to violence and also why the Heralds trusted them that they let their Honourblades remain with them so Shinovar is safe

  10. I've been reading the forum for over 4 months and have been really impressed by like everything. I'm like the guy in the playground who is sitting by the side watching the game and wanting to play but not having the guts to just ask. Doing this in a moment of what a part of me believes is the first step to major humiliation I say hello to all 17th sharders. (Don't be too rough)

  11. Shinovar is saved from highstorm by its mountains which break down the power of the storm but the everstorm comes from the other direction in this case from the sea. Somebody said that the storms are charged by the open sea and this is how a highstorm replenishes after being reduced in Shinovar but the everstorm will never have been reduced by any mountains do its passage over the sea coupled maybe with its slower speed will make it supercharged so when it hits Shinovar it will be more powerful than any other normal highstorm it destroys Shinovar then loses a part of its power in the mountains and hits the other world.

(P.S the destruction of his homeland could also be a pivotal point in the development of Szeth's xharacter)

  12. So I'm new to the forum so don't know if this has already been said it according to a previous chapter saying in wor that said that Bondsmiths usually numbered three. So what if one of them bonded with The stormfather the other with the Night watcher and the third with Cusicesh the protector. It could mean that the Bondsmiths might be a representing of how the KR are formed. Storm father represents Honour Night watcher Cultivation and Cusicesh is a mixture of both. It could also explain why Cusicesh faired more badly than the other two after the Recreance. He along with his knight tried to hold everyone together and this broke them so that he became fixed into a pain cycle and the faces that show on it are those people who it failed to bond together with their spren
