  1. Yes they're lyrics from a poem during an interlude in their album.
  2. As many have stated, I'd like to know more about the exact capabilities of the lesser-mentioned orders but I'm very intrigued at what Dustbringers could do! From the prelude it sounds like they can light things on fire (makes sense with abrasion). As it stands though, hard to not want to be a Windrunner!
  3. Hello everyone! As I patiently await the next Stormlight book I spend a lot of time thinking back on how awesome the series has been thus far. There were so many good scenes! One that has stood out to me though since the moment I read it is the scene where Kaladin meets Wit/Hoid. I think that it was SO vivid, the way Sanderson wrote it with the smoke and the way that the music echoed in the chasms. I also thought the story Wit told was intriguing and was a cool way to have Kaladin change his frame of mind and snap out of his slump. Would love to hear other people's favorite moments and reminisce on these great books!
  4. Well they're my favorite band so I think they're good lol but they span many genres. Early stuff is hardcore punk, middle stuff ranges from a darker, more anthem-rock style to post-hardcore to 80's rock. Kinda hard to describe in a nutshell but its all rock of some sort!
  5. Thank you! Its the title of an album by my favorite band AFI (A Fire Inside).
  6. Indeed! I came initially to make sense of the awesome craziness that has been the Stormlight Archive and ended up jumping down the rabbit hole(aka discovering the Cosmere). Made me think even harder as I finished WoR and gave me even more motivation to read Sanderson's other works. Cheers!
  7. Thanks! I figured it was some sort of rep system, just wasn't completely sure how it worked. I'll definitely be around, gotta do something g to stay occupied while waiting for the next Stormlight book! Not to mention try to understand everything I've already read in WoK and WoR
  8. Don't know if this is the appropriate spot for this question but as I am new please bear with my unfortunate ignorance: what is the purpose/meaning of the # and word under each member's name and picture? Mine originally said # spren, now it says # skaa. Im not asking what spren/skaa mean but what the various numbers and words mean to this site. Cheers!
  9. I started Elantris yesterday and am almost done Warbreaker will com right after, then Mistborn. Cheers again!
  10. Good point. However, are there theories as to why Nightblood can speak and is sentient? Or is that explained in Warbreaker (which I will be reading very soon).
  11. Never considered this, thanks for the clarification! So by this, Nightblood IS a spren, because aren't all shardblades spren? Its just those that were abandoned by/had their oaths broken by the knights radiant are "broken" somehow? And thank you! Glad to have found this awesome site it will help me pass time as I impatiantly await the next Stormlight book. Cheers!EDIT: One clarification: I get that Honor Blades aren't spren, I meant all Shardblades that aren't Honor Blades.
  12. Awesome. I haven't read Warbreaker yet but I just bought it yesterday and will read it once I finish Elantris. Just curious, how do you know it is Nightblood? Is it made obvious from reading Warbreaker? Thanks!
  13. Hello! Just joined the site today as i just finished WoR!! Glad to see there is such an active and passionate fanbase for Sanderson's books! Here's my question/thoughts: So why do I see so many people saying Skybreakers don't have spren? Maybe I am completely missing something obvious so forgive me if that is the case. For starters, Syl makes a comment to Kaladin concerning the difference between Windrunners and Skybreakers, quote: "Sylphrena, an honorspren, mentioned to Kaladin that "Laws don't matter. Whats right matters." Highspren, and through them, the Skybreakers, judge and dispense justice according to the letter of the law and what may make logical sense to them" (17th shard wiki)" I remember Syl talking about the difference between how Highspren and Honorspren distinguish what should/should not be done. To me this all implies Skybreakers have Highspren. Also, when Szeth meets Nale, Nale asks him to join the Skybreakers. Then Nale throws him a shard blade and the blade seemingly talks to him. Again, I feel this indicates it is a spren. Would love to get clarification on all of this! Cheers!
  14. While i have not read Mitborn yet i did remember Wit saying something odd to Kaladin when they first met, here it is from the wiki: "While introducing himself to Kaladin, Hoid relates that he began life as a thought, a concept, words on a page ... and that this was something he stole, himself." So I'd agree with your theory in that Wit/Hoid has some sort of unnatural/supernatural origin. I wonder though, if he began as a "thought or concept" doesn't that sound somewhat similar to how spren are given existence initially through thoughts/concepts of the physical realm?
  15. Thank you! Love the quote you've got there from WoR. As I've only finished the two Stormlight books so far I don't have many of Sanderson's boooks to chose from. But overall I'd say I liked WoK slightly more than WoR although both were phenomenal. I'm very excited to read Sanderson's other works now and have started Elantris!
  16. Figured I'd sign up for the community since I find myself coming here often to make sense of all the twists and turns in the Stormlight Archive series! I bought WoK less than 2 months ago and have already finished it and WoR. SO amazing! I cannot stop thinking about them and now the agonizing wait for the next book begins In the meantime I've picked up Elantris, Warbreaker and the first Mistborn book. Looking forward to more from Sanderson and his Cosmere!
