Ok, nevermind, the discrepancy I noted got fixed by the end of the cycle, so I can leave my (thankfully unvoiced) suspicion unsaid.

By the way, some may be interested to know that lady eowyn raise the issue at the end of the day of whether or not we would know from a random role-block who was role-blocked. I doubt that was a reason for targeting her, since it was posted only about an hour before the end of the cycle and no one had time to respond, but it's potentially useful info. It's also nice to see that we can indeed tell who was role-blocked, provided that person cast a lynch vote. So, we either need to abandon the random role-blocking or make sure everyone (or at least all-but-one) gets a lynch vote in. Which we should be doing anyway, just to make sure everyone gets coin (since the passengers will greatly outnumber the coinshots). EDIT: Thanks zas, I'll review it...

I can confirm that Eowyn was in the caboose. Since it doesn't help the coinshots after the fact, I'm happy to post the list from last station: jasonpenguin, bridgeboy, clanky, lady eowyn, burnt spaghetti orlock aanwolf Also, I can't find the general station 2 thread from last time. Anyone know how we can get it? I have an issue I'd like to raise from that, but want to double-check my facts before casting suspicion on anyone.

A quick thought on posting car occupants... The chances of all the coinshots being in one car seem very small, so since (if I understand the original rules, Renegade confirm?) the coinshots get one free PM to the active killer, they will at the very least list the occupants of their cars, then they will most likely have multiple cars to choose from. They could slip up and randomly get someone in the vault car, but that seems unlikely, and they *could* decide not to make a kill in order to implicate whoever gets role-blocked in the caboose. It would probably be a bad move as I assume they want to kill innocents as quickly as possible, but (pending verification by mathematical analysis), it seems more likely to be a deliberate choice than random determination. Though, one possibility is for the caboose folks to create a tie in that car (if they don't suspect anyone anyway) so that who gets blocked is random. If they do that (only when they have no basis for picking a particular person) then it doesn't hurt the innocents any, and it gives the coinshots less information with which to decide who to kill. It may not make much difference, but in the case where there is no good argument for a particular target, it can't hurt to deny them that minor piece of info. In any case, all I'm really suggesting is that we make a more careful analysis of whether or not to reveal car occupants. I'd like to see more math, and if it turns out to favor the passengers over the coinshots, I wouldn't want us to make the wrong move by not revealing car occupants. At the very least, it can't hurt to think about it a bit more. Also, because I want my coin, I'll vote for myself Old Wolf this round for now. (It seems the popular thing to do, and while some of the arguments against Adamir make sense, I'm keeping an open mind for now.)

OK, I don't really want to punish good role-play, so I'll retract my vote for Metal. I like Seonid's points. On the one hand, we have no reason really to pick any particular person, on the other, it is a means for obtaining information. Furthermore, making sure everyone votes should statistically provide more coin to the innocent than to the coinshots, right? I'll throw a vote on Araris in the name of inactivity. If someone isn't participating due to outside concerns, it's as likely to happen to a coinshot as a regular person, and if the inactive person is innocent, and the game gets down to the wire, it's still better to have someone still alive who can help lynch discovered coinshots... I guess that means I'm reversing my former stance on not picking on quiet folk, but being new to the game I hadn't realized some of the benefits for doing so, and it makes sense to me now. I will happily retract my vote on word from Araris. Side note: Why does Orlock's post say it was edited by Metalcognition? Is that a bug, or is there a dual-account thing going on. I'm assuming that's kosher, just curious...

I was actually referring to Symmer's nomination of myself, Mr. Metal. I certainly hope speaking up for myself isn't suspicious, though based on the conversation so far, I'm honestly not sure what some of you wouldn't think was suspicious. If you'd like to interpret my comment as coming to the defense of quieter folk everywhere, or of Grind in particular, please feel free to do so. I've seen the quiet ones picked on far too often for my taste. I'm not foolish enough to believe that quiet people are always innocent, and I haven't yet ruled out anyone as a suspect, but you'll have to forgive me if I'm not comfortable with suggestions of punching everyone indiscriminately in the hopes that someone will decide to confess. Sigh.... even were such a method of interrogation without obvious flaws, it didn't escape my notice that your plan involved everyone being punched except for you. I suppose one could argue that obvious motive behind your suggestion, i.e. somehow being excited by senseless violence, is not one that would be flaunted by a criminal hoping to remain hidden. However, it is only logical to assume that one trying to remain hidden would be capable of pretending ignorance. Though in your case, Mr. Metal, I'll admit that seems to be the less likely alternative... Give me a good reason to suspect someone else, and I'll happily change my vote. But until then, since I have no desire to die today, the most rational course of action is to oppose those insisting on lynching random passengers of this train. I may risk drawing undue attention to myself in the process, but I refuse to support obvious mob mentality as a matter of principle. In the absence of evidence, random lynchings are more likely to harm the innocent than the guilty. Now, if anyone has a suggestion for properly investigating the situation, so that we can make an informed decision, I'd love to hear it...

Old Wolf sighs at the suggestion that he might be part of this. "Sure, pick on the quiet ones," he mumbles to himself. "If you must lynch someone, would it not make more sense to consider the one threatening to punch people? Though I suppose it isn't the wisest thing to potentially anger Met-al, he's the one making me nervous..."

New to the forum, new to the game, long time fan of Sanderson, hoping there is still room... If so, please add "Old Wolf" to the roster. A well dressed man in his late 50's, looking out the window, lost in somber thoughts.
