  1. Here's another stylized character I did a long while back. Like... almost a year ago... Wow. Iiiiiiiit's Dalinaaaar! Kinda my favorite character in the Stormlight Archives. This guy rocks. I'm going to be revisiting his portrait very soon. And moving his ears down among other fixes =) Let me know what you think! grantmhansen.com

    Navani

Here's a stylized lil' version of Navani Kholin. I definitely picture her with a bit of silver in her hair, but... let's say that this is just a younger Navani, shall we? This little piece is actually waxing pretty old, but I figured I'd post it anyways. I'll for sure be having another go at Navani in the future =) Let me know what you think! grantmhansen.com
  3. I took a venture into stylized characters a little while back (I've come back to more representational stuff recently so as to better learn the rules, and then go BACK to stylizing with a bit more confidence) and decided to do the 25 essential expressions meme with my version of Dalinar Kaolin. It was a lot of fun =) let me know what you think! grantmhansen.com
  4. I believe that it was Leonardo Da Vinci who once said that you don't actually finish a piece of art. You abandon it. Well, I'm finished noodling with this one and am ready to show it around a bit more. It's Kaladin!! At least it's my interpretation of the guy. I've been through a few iterations of this character, but landed here, and I like the way he turned out. This is, of course, pre-shave-not-happy-to-be-a-bridgeman Kaladin -- hence the beard and stuff. Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to check out more of my art at grantmhansen.com
  5. Yeah, you know I'd never thought of any sort of Cumberbatchiness to Wit (though, truth be told I don't exactly put a set face to any character when I'm reading. More an amorphous generalization) but as I started looking through head shapes and such Benedict came to mind and I thought: "hm. Benedict wouldn't be half bad as Wit, would he?" So I inducted some of his features into the illustration. Earlier versions had WAY more Cumberbatch in them, but I didn't want to rip too directly off of his face (it also didn't quite match the aforementioned amorphous generalization I had for Wit) so I made some changes. Thanks for loving the piece!
  6. Definitely will =) I'm wrapping up a new Kaladin Piece right now, then I think I'll pop the lot of them up in the forums and gallery and such. Thanks for checking them out!
  7. Thanks very much!
  8. Forums! Right =) Well, I will certainly do that. I'm wrapping up a painting of Kaladin right now, so p'raps I'll post the three of them together =) And thanks Argent!
  9. Portrait that I painted of Wit/Hoid. DEFINITELY a favorite character in Brandon's Cosmere. Every new discovery about this guy and his past/nature/powers opens up the universe in a way that most other characters can't quite compare to. Thank you, Brandon, for writing us such an intriguing role. If you folks know any cool facts about Wit that I don't know (and you probably do), tell me abou 'em! grantmhansen.com
  10. Thanks both of you! and thanks for checking out my site! =)
  11. First off: I listen to the Audiobook version of all of Brandon's books, so if I misspell names... That's why. =) Painted this little piece of fanart recently in an effort to learn a bit more about rendering in Photoshop. Let me know what you think! I'm working on my professional website at the mo, but I've got another up with a pretty wide collection of the art I've been making and the lessons I've been learning in the past few years.
