Mistborn, hands down. It is arguably the most important Cosmere wise, it's future is waaay more exciting, but most importantly: it is the only Cosmere franchise that has a completed series! Maybe two soon if Brandon ever decides to write the Lost Metal.

Unpopular Brandon Sanderson Opinions
Orlion Blight replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Unpopular opinions about Brandon Sanderson, eh? Boy howdy, do I have them! 1) Brandon's writing is merely serviceable. 2) Brandon's focus on the mechanics of magic turns it into a fantastical physics, not magic. 3) Brandon's "refresher projects" are going to be the reason the Cosmere is never finished. 4) The "refresher projects" serve more to expand his brand and therefore operate more like a calculated business decision then a necessity to maintain writing quality. 5) Brandon should have written Elantris and Warbreaker sequels long ago, that he hasn't is more to wanting a couple "standalone works" than anything else. 6) Brandon does not know what "standalone" means. 7) All his adult books read at a YA level, and the level of his YA books is insulting to the supposed literacy of young adults.- 686 replies

I won't apologize for what appears to be a blatant misinterpretation my post. I will add some clarifying explanations. At no point in the quoted post did I call anyone sexist because the critique I was addressing, that of "introducing a powerful character out of nowhere". The only implied point was that a big portion of the MCU was the interaction between producers and the fans, which causes hype and expectation including "hey, Captain Marvel is being introduced between the Avengers two parter." Something that fans have been speculating on for years. To say that it came out of nowhere is akin to having a mental fugue because the nature of how the MCU is experienced with schedule releases and hype making mean that we knew this character was being introduced at this time for a while. Then I briefly laid out why I don't think she will singularly resolve the Thanos problem... because there is plenty of examples of characters with similar power sets that could not do it. So whatever mistakes Endgame might make is not going to be, "thank god Captain Marvel showed up and single-handedly saved the day! " What I actually think will happen? Her biggest contribution will be to provide the means/ energy to transport the Avengers where Thanos is at (quantum realm will be used to find where he is). She'll participate in the final battle, but the key characters that will defeat Thanos and reverse the snap will be Iron Man and Captain America.

Yep, with the only major changes being the addition of Ant-man movies and Inhumans being cancelled. And Spiderman. That was not yet a thing when this version of the release schedule was released.
-
Here's the original schedule after Age of Ultron, as you see, they have planned on Captain Marvel being released between the two Infinity movies since at least before Civil War.
-
It's been established for years (possibly since after the first Avengers movie) that Captain Marvel would be introduced between the third and fourth Avengers movie. Only now is it a problem because of... reasons? It certainly is not because of "story concerns" because storywise, Captain Marvel is introduced right at the end of Infinity Wars as a teaser and a reason to hope, giving a valid reason to indulge in a prequel movie before Endgame. Captain Marvel is prepped more than Vision was when he came out of nowhere and saved the world in Age of Ultron. No one complains about that, I wonder why? And when watching the movie, it's apparent that Captain Marvel cannot beat up Thanos as he is now. Captain Marvel gets her power from an Infinity Stone, much like Vision and Scarlet Witch who did not put up much of a fight for Thanos. If she was in Infinity Wars, she would have failed like everyone else did. She is not a magical "resolve Thanos problem" card. She is probably just stronger than Thor (who also beat someone who was using an Infinity Stone)... But I'm rambling. Essentially, people are forgetting that these are Marvel movies, that they got the formula down and we are going to get a fun Marvel movie in Endgame where the Snap will be undone. Really, the last misstep Marvel made was Age of Ultron.

@Claudia10 You're assuming there will be an Iron Throne upon which to sit -
Forum too, though it has been years since I've entered THAT place. All fandoms have what I'm talking about: this false idea that the books they love are objectively THE BEST EVAR!!!1! I rank that quality as being problematic based on how prevalent that feeling is and the age of the fandom. Some examples: 1) You see that quality in this forum, and though I'm annoyed by it (I am a curmudgeon, after all) I don't think it's a problem because the age group is predominantly young. Young readers get excited when they find that one thing that finally helps them define and recognize what they like, and so far when reading recommendations threads, they are developing their reading habits along those lines. It's a foundation they are generally building on, and that's a good thing. 2) You see the opposite in a sizable portion of the Harry Potter community, where that series is the best. These are grown adults that have not found anything new in decades because they think there cannot possibly be anything better. They are stagnant. 3) In the case of Malazan, a sizable chunk think that because they read a series that is slightly more challenging than others, they are smart readers (think about that meme about Rick and Morty fans). 4) From my old fandom, there are really, really old folks that think the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant are the sacred texts that have answers to the profundity of life. It's limiting the mind and is where members of the other fandoms (particularly Harry Potter) are heading towards. I don't see that particular problem with folks in this thread, so I post here instead of other forums or Facebook.

I mean, in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the actual Lord of the Rings makes maybe one on page appearance, so having Karsa not have an on-page appearance is not odd, even if we call it the Karsa trilogy. As far as his nervousness is concerned, it's warranted. The performance of this trilogy is pretty much going to revive his career or knock him down to a has-been. Tempering can expectation like this is an excellent idea to not only prevent disappointment which could lead to disappointing sequel sales, but also keep the fan base excited. I will still posit that a major factor in the failure of the Kharkanus trilogy is how long the wait was for the second book coupled with those stupid side projects. Without a general sense of when something comes out, you can't get excited for it. And long writing times are terrible when a feeling point among fans is "he's faster than Martin! " And I think it's good Malazan fans are talked down to. They have this unearned self-image that they are sophisticated readers when they are pretty much just fan bois. The sooner they realize this, the sooner we can have actual conversations in their domain without the risk of our eyes rolling out of our skulls

So, based on how I review "best MCU movies" (tl;dr it's about how well they hold up on their own, so no sequels and no Avengers) Captain Marvel is number 3 below Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy. It was really good, and if anyone says otherwise, you can safely assume it's because they are terrible people with fragile male egos that label anything that challenges their narcissistic views as "political." Later on, when things have calmed down, actual criticisms of the movie based on the actual work may appear. But now? 95% chance it's a borderline incel that's upset because Brie Larson hurt their delicate pride. Don't @ me. And to answer the inevitable question, it's about as "political" as Wonder Woman.

Yeah, I'm something of a Trekkie and could not get into the Willful Child. It's Trekkie humor, which means it's been done before and is frankly tiresome. He seems to have hit a rut when writing Fall of Light. The process seems to have shaken him, and the sales have devastated him. Pretty much, if this Karsa novel does not do well...
-
Coming this November: another Willful Child sequel or some such science fiction garbage!
-
Good plan, since a bunch of gross dude-bros are trying to tank the movie with fake reviews.

So, any news on the Karsa book by Erikson? I only know from his Facebook that he's hard at work hating on Star Trek: Discovery.

I've only read the first one, so not sure how she does the second person narration in other two... or if there is a reason for it (in the first, it's a clear separation of the two main storylines, though after the conclusion of that first book, I'm not sure how necessary it would be)

Yeah, nothing implying that there is no increase in universal entropy in either anime. 1) In the first, inferior anime the energy comes from WW1 death and sadness seeping over from our dimension (yeah, pretty dumb in the way edgy angst is) 2) In Brotherhood, the energy that powers western alchemy (that Ed and Al predominantly used) comes from tectonic shifting of the plates. The Eastern alchemy is powered by chi following from the top of the mountains to the valleys and some such mystical jargon.
