Are there any theories as to why the Heralds came to be?  Were they special before being declared Heralds, or was their near immortality granted by the oathpact?

I don't think there is much to work with on this one yet...but I just assumed that Honor created them. Perhaps to lead men to be honorable since Odium is on that planet and men could behave badly if too much hate was in their hearts. 

Maybe he went to Roshar because he wanted Nightblood back.

I'm going to assume that Nightblood ended up on Roshar b/c of Vasher. Maybe he wanted to leave Sel in peace and needed a place to store the damned evil thing...

WoB tell us he healed Spook at Kelsier's express request. Why Kelsier would not have cared about Marsh, why Sazed would not have healed Marsh on his own...who knows.
