  1. I sympathize Aman, and I'm sure many players who have encountered illogical paranoia on a regular basis would as well. Before this gets too heated, if @Alvron could check if there wasn't a mistake in the pm's? Both players seem quite certain causing some harm. I'm fine with this plan. In a compromise for Bard's accusations, perhaps we could put it back one cycle (if there is one) and have you kill Lime tonight. If Lime is confirmed as a Jeskeri, it would be even more absurd for there to be two Jerskeri on the current senate as it would require 6 total (10/19 players as eliminators :S). Perhaps this would alleviate any further suspicion, and allow you to finish the game.
  2. Very well played Aman. If what you've said is true, you were faced with an impossible situation and nearly made something of it. Had night 4 had gone your way, or had you been slightly less astute in your hunt for eliminators, this could have been a very different game. I'd like to say that I think the scan of El is a waste. The majority of suspicion around her is based on the supposed WGG of night 2, however I was protecting El night 2, so I assume Mailliw was just trying to feed a rumor. I'm for the lynch of Kipper, though I'd prefer the scan to be on Sart or Orlok.
  3. I have a couple of points to make about Aman, and I apologize if some of this has already been brought up, but its the summery of my thoughts for most of the game. I'll just start by saying that I believe that you're Jeskeri and the rest of this post will be worded on the presumption that you are. This role reveal was your first action that bothered me. You revealed your role because you thought is improbable that the Derethi wouldn't have attacked you by this point, and therefore must have been scanned by the Gyorn. IF that's true (Mailliw says otherwise), that only takes into account the Derethi kill, but the Jeskeri also failed to attack you. You also make a point of saying that the eliminators already know, when really in the worst case scenario only one would. Basically I think that is a very weak, reason to reveal an important role, and its much more likely that you needed to have your role as public knowledge in order to use it as leverage to keep yourself on the senate. Which you did. Very quickly might I add, as soon as it looked at all possible that you were going to be recalled. As the Jeskeri's starting senator, it would set your team back a long way if you were to be removed. This is a nice little ploy to have the village believe that they would be removing an important asset if you were to be recalled. Replace Mailliw for Aman and Derethi for Jeskeri... And 'Analyse' them you have; Just a few examples among many, and yet in terms of actually uncovering Jeskeri players there has been zero progress. Up until your accusation of El, there was a lack of analysis of Derethi. This allows you to shift the 'Jeskeri' title from place to place, without the magnifying glass actually landing on any of your team mates, and also allows you to go after your real suspicions in terms of Derethi. The village is still identifying and killing eliminators, so happy days there, while you gain trust and shift focus. This whole post seemed far fetched to me. And basically I trust El. The biggest defense you've used to say that you're village is that you put in place plans that make life hard for the eliminators. Those being; scanning non-senators and keeping the senate stagnant (remind me if there are any others). So then the question is, why the sudden change of tack in the last turn or so? You initiate the whole recall debate by targeting Len, even though with a 5 man senate the Jeskeri can't win as it stands. Essential is also a very strong word, given the assumptions you were required to make to paint Cloud as Jeskeri. This to me looks like a Jeskeri trying to open up a spot on the senate rather than a villager looking after the groups best interests. Then today you don't have any objections to scanning a senator, and one you claim to believe is Jeskeri. This would have stalled the game out with no real gain to the village, but it would bring you closer to another cycle with a kill, and steer the village away from finding the remaining Derethi(s). My best guess is that, in the perfect world for you, Len would have been recalled and the kill on Bard would have gone through, leaving two spots on the senate and only one vetted villager. Meaning you have a bit of wiggle room to get a friend on the senate. You're then in a position where if you can orchestrate a lynch on the person you believe to be the last Derethi (El), the game finishes with a 2v2 in the senate, and the Jeskeri winning.
  4. Good news if Bard is cleared! That'll be a good outcome for us. Apologies if I sound like a broken record, but same question to @Amanuensis Aman how would you feel if you lost your seat? Edit: vote colour *2..
  5. If that's the case, why not request for yourself to be recalled? It would take you out of the crosshairs and the resulting bidding war to fill your seat could well be enlightening. The fact is, it will never be completely secure, as we can never be certain. Your own paranoia of Cloud, even after he was scanned and found to be a villager, is proof of that. If the doc is not being used by anybody then we're just wasting a resource and treading water in a barrel, waiting to be shot. If Straw adds a villager, great. If he adds an eliminator, then Cloud has the opportunity to have a real time conversation with that person and make a more informed decision about their alignment. The more fronts on which the eliminators are forced to converse, the more likely they will be to slip up. Not quite true, the Jeskeri have a doc, but they also have a kill every even numbered night cycle. They are an eliminator faction, even if their win condition is a bit different.
  6. I think its a given that we'll be electing cloud this night cycle, and eramit will be lynched tomorrow, so my focus wont be on them. @The Young Bard Bard, you had a very aggressive start, so much that it was a big topic of conversation for some time, yet you've been quiet for quite some time now, why the change? We've heard Elenion doesn't mind losing his place in the senate, how would you feel if you lost yours? (Also Australian buddies, yayayay!!) A reminder that whoever is elected is protected this night cycle, so protective roles, chose a target that you trust other than them. There will be two potential kills tonight, disregarding the Kesegan monk, so please use your roles I'm not sure how to comment on @Straw's actions, but definitely use that page man! even if you don't want to say much there, make sure to add people so that they can chat together. You don't have a confirmed good guy this cycle like you did last, but don't let that stop you adding someone you have a good feeling about. @OrlokTsubodai think this games due for a healthy dose of controversy, what's happening? I'd also like to hear you expand on your thoughts on Aman if you're willing?
  7. Hello all, apologies for my absence until this point. Couple of things I've been thinking about. I'm not altogether sure that aiming the senate scan away from the senate itself, is a good thing to be doing. From what I've read the main two arguments for doing this are; we won't be able to trust the results as they are only given to one senator who might have reason to lie, and that if we start recalling senators as a result of the scans, the cultists wont need to stick their necks out as much to have an opportunity to elevate one of their own. There's also a one in five chance that the scan will be pointless. Its 3am and I don't really feel like writing an essay so I'll just dot point the reasons I think we should be scanning those in the senate. - In terms of scanning, learning alignment is the no1. goal of the village, learning roles is the no1. goal of the eliminator factions - If we need to risk revealing roles to the eliminator factions, those who are revealed should have the greatest chance of being protected. i.e. by duellists. - Regardless of who the next target of the scan is, I'd ask that only the alignment is revealed. Cloud was unavoidable given the role claim, however public knowledge of roles does not benefit the village in this case. If we say from the start that only the alignments are going to be revealed, we remove arguments about people trying to unnecessarily hide information in the future. - If a derethi finds a cultist within the senate, they become more of a target than a cultist out of the senate, potentially drawing a night kill away from the village. Or they are revealed to the public and we lynch the cultist, so win win. Similarly in reverse. - The only scenario in which the person receiving information would benefit from lying is if they were in an eliminator faction and scanned someone in the same faction, which I don't think is all that likely to happen. Basically, as the senators wield a substantial amount of power, as well as being the basis for a win condition, quite rightly the magnifying glass is on them. That's why I back Meta's proposal of senators making a case for themselves, and would further that by asking the senators to resist the urge of acting at random or on a hunch. Your positions carry weight and will be scrutinised, so if you can't logically justify actions that you take, the village could well tunnel in on an innocent.
  8. Just the important stuff! Fun stuff to come later. ----- First of the Morn (Mailliw73) was lynched! He was a Skilled Trapper! Gylfie (RippleGylf) was killed by the traders! He was a Regular Trapper! Citona Vinid (Shallan) was as careless as the island is dangerous! He was an Influential Trapper! 9. Pepe was having a hard time making friends. Everything had happened so suddenly, he just retreated into his shell and couldn’t get out. Maybe getting out of his shell was the first step. Then he could see about figuring out what to do about this situation. With his mind made up, there was no way Pepe wasn’t going to get out of his shell. Pepe didn’t take no for an answer. Even from Pepe. ----- The sun had a way to go yet before it began to cross over the horizon, but everyone in their gathering was itching to be away to safety before night fell. The day’s discussion had been fruitful, many finding their voices after their weeks of isolation. And eventually a consensus had formed that one of their number was more out of place than the others. NeLaar knew nothing of the ways of the trappers. It seemed irresponsible for the trading company to send someone so ignorant to the ways of the island, but none the less, it was the best lead they had and the decision had been made that he must die. The mob came at him with machetes like they had the first and just as quickly retreated while a few searched the body for signs of being a trader. Shouts of surprise came from those standing by the body as NeLaar’s flesh seemed to twist around itself and begin closing some of the gashes covering his skin. Surprise was quickly taken over by fear and the trappers hastily began gathering the components of a fire. They did not know what this unnatural being was, but it would burn. Burn until nothing remained but charred bones. Rain crouched over the last embers of the dying fire, absent mindedly pushing NeLaar’s remains around like a child playing with its food. The unmistakable chink of metal brought him back to his senses and he had a closer look between the bones. There, as black as everything else, he found a shape that was a little too symmetrical to be a bone. Picking it up with his coat to avoid the embers, Rain gave the rod a quick wipe and found the soot came away easily to reveal what seemed to be copper. A quick search of the rest of the fire pit yielded another identical rod and Rain pocketed them both quickly before heading towards the safe camp. A mystery this was, but a mystery for another day. For now, he had to rest. There was work to be done tonight. ----- First light would rise in an hour. Fourth of the Rain needed to make haste. As he lightly struck the forest floor, a muffled squawk sounded from the hessian sack in his hands. A sharp shake drew a hiss out of the aviar inside and Rain allowed himself a chuckle before setting of into the darkness. He had never liked his sisters aviar. Jay she called it. An idiotic thing at the best of times, but fortunately it did not need wits to serve his purpose. Stealing Dawn’s aviar less than an hour before she was due to wake up was certainly a risk, but heading into the forest without a mind shield was suicide in daylight, let alone during the night. Unfortunately, his task left him little choice. During the gathering the previous day, one of Rain’s associates with fast hands, had managed to sneak a glance at the notebook of a particularly unfortunate trapper. Fortunately for Rain, the trapper was quite young and had only one safe house listed, saving the trouble of checking 2 or 3 before he found his mark. A blessing that he was very grateful for. The sooner this was over, the better. Rain slowed slightly as he drew closer. Eyes constantly scanning the ground and branches in front of him for signs of tripwires, pitfalls, poisoned spikes or any other conceivable terror that might be in place to deter visitors. Once again thankful for the inexperience of his prey, Rain had no trouble finding his way to the base of a thick trunked tree which had roughly disguised hand and foot holes carved into the side. A brief glance to the east told Rain that he had roughly three fours of an hour to be back at Dawn’s safe camp without arousing suspicion. No time to waste. He dropped the sack at the base of the tree, and with machete between his teeth, began the climb. Rain stood over the sleeping trapper and bit his lip to stop his hand shaking. He had killed men before of course, found them in his traps, but this was different. Cold blood he could live with, but when he had received the information about the location of this safe house, he had also been told the trappers name. Funny, he thought, how one small detail makes it impossible to dehumanise a hunk of meat that is soon to have its throat slit. As the taste of blood began to fill Rain’s mouth, his resolve strengthened and he knelt slowly to straddle the man beneath him. Making a fist with his right hand and cradling the machete in his left, he took one last breath to steady his composure, and struck. His right hand came down hard into the man’s stomach and up into the diaphragm, forcing all the air from his lungs. Just as soon as he had made the first blow the machete slashed quickly across the throat, severing arteries and wind pipe as it went. Jumping back quickly, lest he get too much blood on himself, Rain looked down at the wide eyes of Fourth of the Moon. The pain in those eyes screamed at Rain although Moon himself made no sound as blood flooded into his empty lungs. A horrific death certainly, but a silent one. Satisfied that Moon needed no more assistance in reaching the afterlife, Rain, turned and began his return trek, praying for the sun to stay beneath the horizon. ----- NeLaar (Arraenae) was lynched! he was a Regular Trapper! Fourth of the Moon (luckat) was killed by the Traders! He was a Patji! Edited. 10. The days work was almost over. The group of trappers and traders seemed content to bicker and argue for now, but as night drew closer their thirst for blood only grew. More than likely another life would be lost this day. Such was the way of things. 1 hour till the end of cycle!
  11. By the Mother/Father works I guess, but my recent reread has me of the opinion that the people of the Eelkin Isles are rather good natured and refrain from swearing all that much.
  12. There is no minimum number of votes needed in order to kill someone. If the lynch is tied then the village has been indecisive and nobody will be killed. Edit: Codes can be used twice in the same post.
  13. Cultivation has been kind enough to open a pm between Wilson and myself so I assume the pm shop is open for business. I have also been reliably informed that as a special introductory offer, all PM's are free of charge (wow!). Extra brownie points will also be available if the offer code 'please' is entered in the order.
  14. I very much dislike the fact that the Mass PM I'm in is getting more attention than the thread. Its like the Shardic Coalition Part 2, but instead of a group of players with confirmed good roles (and one unfortunate weasel), it's just a random group which could contain anything and anyone. Hence why I'm posting here and not there. Amalgamating information: Yolen: Kipper, Antillar Maxiumus, Macen, Danstar888 Sel: Wilson, Hael, Clanky, Quiver Nalthis: Eol, Dowanx, Alvom, Honey Badger, Orlok, Stink Roshar: Seonid, Winter, Surgebound Rainspren, Ostrich First of the Sun: Raven, Alvron, phattemer, Shallan That leaves(Scadrial?): Araris, Mailli, Paranoid Empress, Nicoco, Lopen Aside from monitoring which players are moving planets and what groups are forming, this information is particularly important for Devotion. I will leave it up to you to decide what roles you think are the most useful if brought into the game, but I will say, the fact that you do invest/what role you chose to create, will perhaps give you a steady leg to stand on if your innocence is called into question down the line. My other thought was about the communication restrictions with needing Cultivation or cultivation's investee to set up pm's. Perhaps it would be better if we ask for any pm's we want set up in the thread instead of solely relying on Cultivation's instincts to link players. If yes, could you set up a pm between myself and Wilson at a time of your choosing. A delayed timer would be preferable, to keep you anon. hopefully this will relieve some of the pressure on Cultivations shoulders for being in charge of all communications and should provide more freedom of information between desired players. The general theme behind my suggestions is that by putting pressure on shards to use their actions in a visible way, that will help the village, we can potentially force an Eliminator shard(s) into performing an action that they otherwise would not want to do.
  15. Mmm sorry, living in the past it seems. In response to your questions, if a player was to willingly give up their shard, what would happen to it? Given to Endowment to be given to another player? Would giving it up count as their night/day action and need to invest in someone to do it? If the skeletons were used on someone who used an action that was not a kill action, what would happen to them? Gut feeling though is if the skeletons can no longer be destroyed, then having a double role block player(s) seems a bit OP. Maybe if they were only destroyed killing someone that performs a kill action, but can still block other roles without being destroyed?
  16. If I'm reading this right the new role of the Awakener, you will be able to find out whether someone has normal investiture (worldhopper/uninvested champion), high investiture (minor role, with the addition of which minor role based on planetary origin/invested world hoppers) and extreme investiture, (shards, but not which shard). So the only real change is knowing what minor role people may have? Basically, when you say 'full seeker' will they find out what shard someone is/which shard has invested in someone?
  17. Eoljuun watched patiently as the bodies of Cleo and Kae were put on display in front of the gathered seventeenth sharders. Ordinarily he would have despised being in such a crowded forum, preferring to avoid human contact whatsoever, but given the opportunity that Odium's return presented, anonymity within the crowd would have to suffice for now. Eolkin, the previous holder of Dominion had been Eoljuun's brother. He had also been a fool. As one of the shards who fell during Odium's last excursion into the physical realm, he had shown himself as unworthy of a Shards powers and was to be despised. But all of that was unimportant now. What matters is whether men and women of the same calibre had since taken over those shards. If so, there was likely to be more blood shed before this conflict was over, and shards that find themselves without a holder. If fools were continually being allowed to holders of shards, why not be one of those fools? Eoljuun an opportunist is signing up. P. S. Hilarious tags Joe, 10/10
