  1. I recently learned that there is an interactive Leonardo da Vinci exhibit currently at Union Station for the next few months. There is actually a chance that this might be the same traveling exhibit that James and I stumbled onto in Venice in 2011 when we were on our honeymoon. Our 5th anniversary is coming up in April. The exhibit will still be here.
  2. One of these days, we need to organize something like this. Preferably at a con that we know Sanderson will be at.
  3. There are a few folks that I PM more heavily than others, but mostly I just want there to be a giant Sharder party where I get to meet everyone.
  4. Bruce would totally get scritches. And hugs, if he wanted them, but dogs do not usually enjoy being squeezed.
  5. Stop it, you. Mostly I don't want to go shouting, "Hey, these folks are my favorite people! Which means the rest of you totally aren't!" Because that would just be mean. I don't like to be mean. But yes, Silverblade, if we ran into each other at a con and you wanted to give me a hug, I would be OK with that. And the same goes for any of the rest of you that I talk to enough to say, "Oh, yeah, I know that username!" Except ThirdGen. He's a coworker as well as a Sharder, so no hugs for him.
  6. ... Do...do I have to answer this?
  7. For me, humor is one of the hooks that really pulls my attention in. Wayne's particular brand of madness is probably why the Mistborn Era 2 books are my favorites out of the lot.
  8. There's a stadium-sized crowd cheer rising in the back of my head.
  9. Winter - The cold weather, the snow, the ice, the people who forget how to drive in snow and ice, the short days... Everything about winter, really. And the static electricity. Ye gods, the static electricity. Long hair + static charge = bad times. Casual Touchers - If you are a coworker, casual acquaintance, or (yes this happens) a complete stranger, why are you touching me? This is not a necessary component of normal conversation! Personal space violation! Shoo! Bonus demerits if you're a major corporate client who comes to visit us one day and your first instinct is to greet me with a hug. (Yes, this happened, too.) I...what...why? Note that I have gotten comfortable enough with the Sharders I interact with on a regular basis that y'all count as "friends" and thus a hug-greeting at a convention or something would not be taken amiss.
  10. "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave." And use your mother's momentary confusion at being called Dave as an opportunity to flee.
  11. Come on, Iowa library, give Twi the job offer already! Get her out of there!
  12. I believe that was an acerbic swipe at Hoid calling himself "Wit".
  13. No. No fire. 'Cause all else aside, I'm pretty sure that the answer to the question, "What would Wayne do?" is almost never set someone on fire.
  14. See my previous comment about the risk of accidentally setting the forum on fire.
  15. If this is correct, it kind of makes me wonder what Odium's goals are here, aside from just sowing fear and despair. Is there something about the Truthwatchers that's dangerous to him? Something that Renarin could potentially "see" that would give them an edge? Perhaps enough for him to hijack and mess with the mind of and/or discredit the only potential Truthwatcher we've seen thus far...
  16. I, like Twi, am a Slytherclaw. This should surprise absolutely no one. Popped out to the bookstore today; picked up Words of Radiance. I looked for Warbreaker, but they didn't have it. Boo. Gonna have to order it online, I suppose. I also found an anthology that had both Jim Butcher and Patricia Briggs stories in it, so there's that. And I found this fancy hardback book of Gallifreyan fairy tales.
  17. WORDS of Radiance, not Word. Stupid typing monkey.

  18. Picked up Word of Radiance today, but local bookstore didn't have Warbreaker. Phooey. Now I have to order the dang thing.

  19. I'm rather partial to Flanigan's Right Hook, myself, but both Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly are awesome, too.
  20. Oh. Sorry. It might've pushed a button or two with me. Carry on!
  21. You can if the spike you get is from the person who created said coppermind.
  22. No, the Egyptian goddess has nothing to do with this group's name. It's an arbitrary acronym based on a translated version of what they call themselves. There are several other versions floating around out there, but ISIS is what the media picked up on and won't let go of. Believe me, Kemetic circles are extraordinarily torked off about this whole thing, but we're such a tiny minority in the theater of religion that most of the world barely even knows that we exist.
  23. Geek Social Fallacy in relation to fictional character: we have an inherent desire to see our favorite characters get along with each other. After all, we can see how awesome they are, why can't they? But there are a multitude of reasons why this is, in fact, very much in character for Wayne. 1) Wayne and Steris are very much on the opposite extremes of the Order and Chaos continuum. Wayne confuses and frustrates Steris, and in turn he finds her way of dealing with the world to be anathema to his view of it. 2) Wayne was really rooting for the Wax/Marasi ship. 3) Deep down, he's also afraid of how Wax marrying Steris is going to affect his friendship with Wax. Lessie was great; she just went on their adventure with them. Marasi, he could see her doing that, too. But he views Steris as an avatar for the kind of life that could make men "die of boredom" and he really hasn't seen the more adventurous side of her. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how her involvement in Bands of Mourning breaks his perceptions of her. (Oo, look! Potential for character growth!)
  24. I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

I want in on whatever devious plans you are up to.

      Me? Devious? *innocently bats eyelashes*

Rule number 3: Everyone is actually devious, the seemingly innocent especially so, they are just very good at acting.
