  1. I'm not sure what annoys me more: the fact that office politics are a thing, or that my interpersonal skills are such that multiple factions need me to translate their attempts at communication with each other to keep them from killing each other.
  2. Oh, man, the edit on Twi's final post on the last thread had me giggling like a madwoman. The way we blitz through these threads? Even changing the posts-per-page count like you're saying you will, I'd be willing to bet we'll be up to Random Stuff 20 before we ever get an Episode 8 title.
  3. Eeee! The shipping estimate lied! My copy of Bands is here! *bounces around gleefully and caroms into one of the Shard walls, falling over* Erm. I...I'm going to away and read it now.
  4. No toes were harmed! I just wasn't expecting anyone else to have the time and energy to try and make my little pipe dream come true. Wow, yeah, there is no way I can discern any of this from their website. Just looking at it from a clueless outsider point of view, it appears to me like FanX is just another name for the convention, and the fall con just doesn't exist. You'd think they'd have some sort of explanation in there somewhere. Instead it's just, "busybusyphotophotoFANXPERIENCEbusyphotobusybabblebabbleblather." You pretty much have to already know how it works to understand it. And...eep. That's...that's a lot of people. I mean, dang, people. Crowds. (I'm having nightmare flashback to the last Dragon*Con I went to when you couldn't even walk down the streets outside without dealing with the crush.)
  5. So. Do, um...do you plan to read Swift as Steel when I start posting it up in March?
  6. Even funnier if you drop Wayne into the mix.
  7. Because Brandon kept it secret on purpose.
  8. It almost makes me wonder if there's something there in the Cognitive Realm that's blocking their sentience, similar to what the kandra experience as mistwraiths.
  9. Wait, isn't SLCC in March? I was actually going to let the idea percolate a bit before broaching it to Mi'ch; I wasn't gonna expect anyone to do the work for my idea for me, since I know I'm out for this year, but if you want to get it going I will be more than happy to pitch in next year. There's news that went up on the site's side ticker last night.
  10. Pics or it didn't happen. And Morzathoth, I hope you're holding a place open for WayneSpren when he inevitably makes it over here.
  11. Two weeks. That's all it took. Two weeks of being off-project, and other people have left my widget room a disaster! (OK, it's not that bad. I'm mostly annoyed because people moved stuff around and unplugged everything at my workstation. But. There are bits of Styrofoam peanuts everywhere and it's driving me nuts.) And my radio flips over to "Shut Up And Smile." Thanks, Bowling for Soup, for telling me what I needed to hear.
  12. I'm really hoping he turns up on the cover of The Lost Metal. But...we've got at last two years before we'll know for sure.
  13. That should be nice and cathartic.
  14. Hooray! Though I do not envy him the task of catching up on threads...
  15. You know, you just need to add a Snow Dalek to that little tableau, thus proving once and for all that Doctor Who is Cosmere. *flees*
  16. Not yet, and we're not allowed to talk about it before the midnight release. Once that hits in about (checks time, does timezone math) 8 hours, you can post about it on the Bands of Mourning spoiler sub-board. There's also a really good non-spoiler review up on the site's news feed from Weirywriter.
  17. That's the brain weasels talking. Don't listen to them! Heh. I do have a Kindle, and I use it for some things, but not for others. My Cosmere books and my Dresden Files - those need to be real books or it doesn't count.
  18. o.O Recipes shouldn't be measured in glasses. Cups, yes, but those are actually standardized units of measure. But glasses?
  19. Stop trying to find logic in my madness! *cuddles her Imperial units of measurement* It'll be OK, preciouses....
  20. But there's just something about having the physical book for the first read that is unrepeatable. I know, I'm weird. And old.
  21. Karma - it's a thing.
  22. I just found out my copy's not showing up until Wednesday. This is tragic.
  23. It's logical but it's hard to visualize for some things. Meters are too big to measure a human, centimeters are too small. Honestly, I think that if we switched to Celsius and I saw the thermometer dip into the negatives so many days in the winter I'd start having panic attacks. Negative temperature numbers are scary. See, even decimeters are too small for good height visualization. They're only about 4 inches long, and a foot is 12. See, that doesn't help, either. Tell me someone is 1.7 meters tall, and I just don't know how tall that is. Though again, that's more culturalization than cognitive capacity. I could tell you that I'm 5'6" tall, and you probably can't visualize that any more than I can visualize decimal places of meters. Your mom would hate me.
  24. Or, you know, you could just ask her out. If she says no, just shrug and grin and say, "Eh, it was worth a shot."
