Hey guys! Just for fun, i was trying to think what should be the second oath for each of the 10 orders, based on the primary/secondary attributes of each Herald. Anyone wanna join me? Maybe even going further to the third oath hehe. I would like to see your ideas for the oaths as well, as im not very glad with some of mine yet. This is what i thought so far: Windrunners (Protecting/Leading) “I will protect those who cannot protect themselves” Skybreaker (Just/Confidant) “I will put justice above all else” Dustbringers (Brave/Obedient) “I will overcome my greatest fears” Edgedancer (Loving/Healing) “I will remember those who have been forgotten” Truthwatcher (Learned/Giving) “I will sacrifice for the greater good” Lightweaver (Creative/Honest) - Elsecaller (Wise/Careful) “I will seek the wisdom to prevent” Willshaper (Resolute/Builder) “I will succeed no matter what” Stoneward (Dependable/Resourceful) “I will make from my words the pillars of my existence” Bondsmiths (Pious/Guiding) “I will unite instead of divide”

Hum...ok i might be mistaken , i dont have the book here but i think i remember this.... After Shallan re-opened the Oathgate, Kaladin seems to notice that there are new shatters in the plains. So i though that it was the use of the Oathgate that caused the old shattering. Does anyone know precise information about this?
-
Definitely he didnt use the Oathgate. The Oathgate power would have shattered further the Plains and people would notice. Also I dont know if Honorblades can ope the gates ( but they must, otherwise the Heralds wouldnt reach Urithiru). So he most likely went there through Windrunning. He real question is how does he know where Urithiru is? The Sin people seem to have a large knowledge regarding the Heraldic Epoch, as they also posses the other Honorblades as well. Actually, writing this post one question poped to my mind. If the Oathgate is responsable for shaterring the Shattered Plains, how come the other places with oathgates arent shattered as well?

How do you feel about the Books scheduled Flashbacks?

You have got to trust the writter's abillty to come up with an interresting development for the characters. If Dalinar had no use for the general plot, he wouldnt be in the series, and specially wouldnt be the main character of the closing book of the arc. Therefore im pretty sure that Dalinar has plenty oportunity to grow. Actually i really cannot follow your thoughts. How come you think Dalinar wont grow as a character? He just became a new Radiant, has got the Almighty load to unite the new radiants, has to deal with several schemes among the highprinces, etc....He has plenty truble to deal with, which already changed and ill keep changing his personality as the series progresses. I think he is one of the most interresting characters and im looing forward for his book. -

Another thing thing that i think scapes the pattern. With the exception of the 2 Heralds, all others are new KR, learning their habilities Based in the fact that our Taln might not the the actual Taln, and in this WoB: Q: Do you know the order of 6-10? A: I know whose they are but I haven't decided the order. Lift is one, Taln is one. The person who calls himself Taln Maybe Taln ends p not being the actual Taln, but turns out to be a new Stonewarden anyway. Kinda of messy xD -
I agree with Maxal, the last truth will probably be abou her admiting her love. But Kaladin has better chances than Adolin hehe edit: didnt see the this answer before: Yep, thats true, it sure does count. I just didnt have the book to chec it up. Thx !
-
Yeh, there is no place explicitly saying that Radiants an only summon Shardblade after level 3 right?
-
Oh, i remeber now , thx! But i could e sure if that one counts.... Hum...i realy though that all Orders had 5. I dont have the book here, but i think Syl said that the KR have 5 Oaths, and didnt specify any order in that speech
-
Thats a good theory We know that Ryshadiums have Investiture and were related with Radiants. So Ryshadium's "sensing" of KR is a really good theory. And since Renarim doesnt have one we really have to adapt the theory to the facts. Your argument is quite good, maybe only "soldier" types of KR get a Ryshadium. Three things now: - Does any place cite Bondsmiths as potential soldiers? ( The must be, since Dalinar is a very skilled soldier, but maybe there is a headings or something) - If it is true, than Adolin is one step closer to become our Dustbringer ( or Willshaper....since both orders were indeed fighting in the last desolation as descripted in the Prelude, so both orders are confirmed soldiers) Edit: I found this old thread about the subjet http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6644-ryshadium-wor-spoilers/ They put some interreting thoughts as well
-
Yeh, that seems correct. The WoB makes an undertanding that Shallan is at the 4th level. The question really was which wore the exact 3 truths. It could be what Defender of Jezrien said: she told 2 truths in her childhood, what would allow her to summon the blade, then the "i killed papa" thing would awaken her, and "i killed mama" would put her at level 4. The only problem with this theory is that i dont know if it makes much sense for a truth to only wake her... i think that way she would have said 4 truths in total and would be a level 5 (2 steps above Kaladin, which is not what WoB claims). But at least it would explain why she could summon patter in her childhood, which is indeed a mistery so far. Another option may lay in what Kaellok said in the quote below: I personally dont remember what you are talking about. Waiting for any enlightment hehe Edit: Adjusting cohesion/grammar
-
Yes, it does. I wasnt considering that she could have made Oaths before the start of the told part of the history. But yeh, since she could summon Pattern into become a Shardblade, she must have said the Oaths.... So after all there is still a lot of things we dont know about Shallan

Hello! Please help me out with this doubt of mine... It is based on this WoB: Q: How many oaths can a Radiant swear? A: There is an upper-limit/threshold to the number of oaths a Radiant may make. By the end of WoR, Shallan is a step higher than Kaladin. Kaladin had said the second specific oath at the end of WoR. I though that Shallan had said 2 truths as well ( That she is the murderer of her father, at the end of WoK. And that she is the murderer of her mother, at the end of WoR) Otherwise, wouldnt they both be at "level 3" of the KR? With 3 oaths made? Thanks for anyone who helps EDIT: Adding a question. I didnt actually get the question. I though that the number of oaths was explicity 5. Right?

And ah, i forgot to comment before In the WoB, when asked if each book (hardcover) will have a different color, he said yes, each representing each KR order: Q: Are the rest of the books in the Stormlight Archive going to be different colors? A: They are, and you can actually match the color to the order of the Knights Radiant. That's the Windrunners[WoK], that's the symbol of the Windrunners[in the cover], that's the color[of the cover, blue]. That's the Lightweavers[WoR], and that's the symbol of the Lightweavers, which is the same, and the color[red]. So, I think that kind of a cofirmation that we are going to have a Dustbringer book as well Edit: Adding two more thoughts: - I think the secret Jasnah's and Renarin's flashbacks will become interresting will lay in the gap of time between the 1st and 2nd Arc. Same for Lift (she had a tough childhood but i dont know if theres much to reveal). - Also, we dont have a clue whos the Willshaper also right? (Eshonai could be that or Dustbringer) -
Yeh its very unlikely know....i just dont wanna discart the possibility of having only flashback charactersin the prologues (since Eshonai also seems to be a likely one to appear). Yet i rope that im wrong since having Amaram and Gavilar seem much more fun

I thinkquite the opposite....I would think Renarin could be book 6. Then he could foresee some predictions and events that fantasy writters are so fond, to let us readers pondering into hehe -
Adolin will head down a much darker path than expected (Theory)
Marmota replied to Necromancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I hope tha you are right! It is just not what the headings lead to believe -
I also think that Amaram is more likely than Taravangian. Yeh, Amaram is one that is building up to be a very interresting character, i would like to see his POV as well. Jasnah seeing the conversation Between Gavilar and Amaram seems to be a build up to his later POV. But also Taravangian line that Gavilar spoke with him IN THE NIGHT of his death also makes me ponder if Taravangian wasnt there as well Well, we dont know when Reanarin's bond started. Its is thw writers job to provide fun and unexpected stuff right? Maybe he got up from bed and saw something. But i dont think it is likely either, since Renarin in the present seems pretty ignorant about the facts, and so the possibility of him had gathered any information in that night is small. If we are going to have a POV of Eshonai, it must be i book 3. It doesnt make any sense putting her POV after her book.

In a WoB he says that heralds dont sirgebind without the honorblades. Maybe Shalash turns out a dustbribger later on, but i hate that idea. I sincerely doubt that Shalash is gona have a book after all. The 10 orders than books seens a pretty solid plan to be broken by a single book in 10 -
Exacly And regarding that WoB refuses to say Taln is really Taln, maybe hes just playing as well. Like, Taln just isn't Taln cause something happened with him that changed him in a way that in pratice Taln cant be considered as Taln, the Herald, anymore... I dont know i just think this kind of stuff because i know that if I was BS i wouls try to trick ny readers hehe

Shes herdazian right? It trully might be possible hehe

Axies the Collector is the Aimian in the Rysn interlude!
Marmota replied to metaldragon's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is my favourite interlude so far....i though the living island was aewsome Maybe Axies is gona meet with the couple studying spren in the next book? -
Ops sorry guys....dont know why this didnt show up at my shearch =S Anyway...i didnt consider Eshonai because i though she wasnt there....was she? Taravangian wasnt there for sure? If Gavilar shared omething with him that same night he must be around doesnt he? ANd, did someone think that maybe hes going to use only flashback characters for it? (vid Szeth + Jasnah) It could leave us with these choices: Eshonai Renarim Dalinar ( unlikely i think) Shalash (maybe she was there, breaking her ownself statue)

I liked the list! Since the beginning i was waiting for Szeth's book! Eshonai is the only one that at first i didnt like, but now im more fond of her I would just trade Shalash for Taravangian, i guess....He is the most interreting character in the series in my opinion And two heralds seens redundant to me. Specially Shalash since shes a Lighweaver same as Shallam, Where did BS say its Shalash?....i remember him saying some time ago that it would be two heralds (Taln + another), but didnt say exacly which one. -
Well, there is another trend discussing the main flashback characters of the 10 books...here i wanna know your opinion about the POV characters in the prologues of the first 5 books. Brandon Sanderson has already stated in interviews that in the prologues of each of the first 5 books we are gona see the night of Gavilar's death from 5 different perspectives. Well, who do you think is yet to come =)? Who else was there ( that we are aware of, so far): Gavilar, Szeth, Jasnah, Danilar, Navani, Amaram, Sadeas, some Parshendi liders, Liss, Elhokar, Aesudan, some random guardsmen, Taravangian. IOM, i think that we are gona have, in that order: 1 - Szeth 2 - Jasnah 3 - Amaram 4 - Taravangian 5 - Gavilar In jasnah's prologue we saw Gavilar talking with Amaram. I think we defnitevely need to hear that talk. And since Amaram is building up as a character, i think now is a good time to learn more about his intentions based in the knowledge Gavilar shared with him. Thats why i put him next =) Taragavian say in the last interlude of WoR that Gavilar confided information with him in the very night of his death. That leads me to belieave that Taravangian was there is the palace somewhere, and would be a good surprise knowing that Gavilar shared with him, that led to Taravangian seek the Nightwatcher Gavilar for last, because he is the one, apperentely, that possessed more informationabout whats going on. Therefore his interlude would be the ultimate one. Of course....maybe i am wrong...Elhokar, maybe the parshman and for certain Navani seen very reasonable possibilities! And my order might not be the most wise one. Well, i wana hear other opinions =)!

In the epilogue of WoK, Taln blade didnt dismiss when he drop it. Wouldn't it be a confirmation that it was an honorblade? I would be very disapointed with BS if Taln ordered his blade to remain on the ground, even though he was stuned in a a pos-teleportation process, semi mad condition. And for me it really feels weird this WoB stating that the madman and the guy at the gate were the same man. They didnt feel like the same man. The Taln at Kholinar's gate didnt repeat the same words as the madman did....But well, if he said so.... The WoB didnt say whether Taln is or isnt a fake one. Why would he give us such a clue for free? (that taln isnt really taln) I dont know, something is really off here. It is obvious by the books that the switch of blades did happen, and whether Taln is or not the madman is a issue that Brandon himself planted in our minds.... After reading this tread i conclud that BS didnt actually leave solid clues for us hehe....We are gona have to wait But for now i hope that Taln is really Taln, otherwise BS is gona be throwing the aewsome epilogue of WoK right in the trash,
