Who is your favourite character in SA?
Marmota replied to missionaryofgod's topic in Stormlight Archive
I voted Szeth. But to be honest, i was kind disappointed in WoR when it was reveiled that Szeth's deal with the oathstone was only because of duty and honour. I was thinking that could be some kind of greater magic binding Seth and the stone,, therefore he didnt have a choice. But i think that it would ruin all the plans Brandon has for Szeth in the end...so i think Stones Unhallowed will decide if he is lame or not Someone voted Lopen... really? I find him extremelly anoying with his good mood -
About the Surge chart, and the map of Roshar Did anyone notice that the Heralds heads on the borders are reflected on these tw maps? For example, Jezhriens head on the Surge map is on the right upper corner, and onthe Roshar map he is on the right bottom corner. Probably means nothing, but...

I totally agree. I was really disappointed. Maybe Brandon didnt want to copy Jaime Lannister

I am really surprised that some people thought that Jasnah was really dead for a moment. I mean, when Shallan leave her room where she was hidding he notices that Jasnah's dead body disappeared. Also, the prologue of the book was dedicated to Jasnah and it ends with her making a promisse to find answers. Whats the point of killing her 5 chapters later? For last, we all know that she is an Elsecaller, who has the power of teleportation and of entering the cognitive realm. So of course she could have scaped from there. FOr me it was pretty obvious that she wasnt dead. At the epilogue i was just waiting for it.

I guess different people value different stuff. Some things that you up are the very same reasons i dont like kaladin that much. I just thought that people would prefer other ones, like Dalinar for example. ( I voted Szeth) -

Granted. You now have 36 useless pieces of rotten meat ( since they are not attached to your body) I wish i could never have itchings in places where i cannot reach -

Im actually pretty surprised by the number of people that have Kaladin as a favourite! I really think that has to do with the fact that Kaladin is the one who had the most "screen time" so far, so gave more space for people to bond with him. I guess this will change over time -

Granted. You are now the very best long distance contest spitter in the world. I wish i could read books with a touch -
Loveable Characters you actually don't care about....
Marmota replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
I guess Lift. I never got how ppl love her so much after just 1 chapter. ANd i think the whole awesomeness stuff pretty lame. I dont lean much towards Kaladin as well -
Once i thought that he would die. But now my feelings are more towards the wide direction that something bad will happen to him, but not necessarily die. As Moogle said in the post above, Brandon doesnt seen very keen to kill his major characters, and as Maxal said it would be a waste of a good and complex character. I agree with both. Actually, my current hint is that Dalinar is the one that dies, possibly in book 5 or even 4 perhaps (as Brandon is thinking of maybe putting some dead ones as flashbacks)

i always though of this image as the actual cover. Much better (and suitable) than kaladins

How do you feel about the Books scheduled Flashbacks?
Marmota replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
I really hope you are right, because than we are getting 2 thousand page books in the second half hehe But Brandon already said that the guys from the first half will appear frequentely in the second half, so one less concern. I just said that probably the books will focus a little more on the new ones -
Sao Paulo, Brazil, portuguese But i am currently living in Auckland, New Zealand Moving to Thailand in a couple months

I think thats a very interresting theory. But the herals dont surge without honorblade, right? And correct me if i am wrong, but this theory implies that the Shshsh sound that Dalinar hears is actually the twisted sound of the word Shalash, right? Therefore Shalash would be using her divine name with everyone around, which doesnt make quite sense.

Nalan said that it was Szeths personality that attracted him. And thanks haha, im flattered. It is a recent photo of myself lol

You really belieave that Eshonai is dead? I mean, The last thing we see of Eshonai is she falling into a chasm (wearing shardplate). It is really different than signing her death sentence. She just started her part in the history, it is really unlikely that she is dead EDIT: Also, having stormform is different than being a Voidbringer. We still dont know exactly in what the Voidbringers consist of

Yeah thats true, its difficult to say. But i really doubt Adolin will have POV on the back half (except maybe really ocasional like Sadeas or Amaram so far). Since the series will have to start focusing on the new POVs, i guess all surviving POVs that we know will get set aside as POVs, though Brandon already said that they wll appear more often than the back half POV appear in the first half. -
Wow i had never heard this theory before...hats quite interesting. Does this theory say that Shalash is Dalinars wife, or that Shshsh is gona be a flashback character? (btw, WoB says that Ash or Shalash is gona be in the back half?) Anyway, the logic doesnt necessarily leads that Shalash = Dustbringer...its just one possibility with the almost zero info that we have so far. I am just saying that logic does kind say that a dustbringer will have flashbacks. You say that Brandon can be umpredictable and i respect that. But my mind kind places this as not a "twist" but simple lack of logic, and i just dont think as likely...
-
Thats my understanding as well. That he hates surgebinders is a misunderstanding. He thinks that the return of radiants may also return the desolations ( which apparently is kind true, but he probably has further knowledge as a herald). Thats why, for example, Lift crime wasnt her being a Radiant, but simple being a thief, and thats why Gawx had the power for pardoning her.

I agree with maxal. It is actually in fact heavily implied that Adolin will become a radiant. It is more of a hint that Adolin will play a much smaller part (if any) in the second half. -
Well of course we dont. But i am using logic as a guide to try to predict what i think could happen. If a specific radiant order is going to be the focus of one book, and the flashback character is the cornerstone of it, It REALLY doesnt make sense the flashback character not being the same order focused on the book. Even on the example you have given, of the flashbacks being of a dead character, it wouldnt skip the rule. Like, if Dalinar dies before the last book, it will still count as the Bondsmith book. For what i get from Brandon books is that he values this kind of logic and patterns. If this is working on 9 out of 10, something is off... Yeah i know i said they are "kind" of regular people. I meant that they dont have Surges, and they have human emotion (probably they were normal guys before Tanavast gave them their honorblades). As spren are atracted to emotions, i dont see why they cannot bond with spren. Of curse Brandon could make up some explaition prohibiting the Nahel Bond between sprens and heralds, but so far i think it is a free path. Maybe the Dustbringer turn out to be the false Taln, and Shalash the Stoneward? hehe You know what, i thought the same! It occurred in my mind that maybe his spren will come "disguised" for not letting the readers know straight away whats gonna happen. I was thiking that it would be cool if perhaps his spren has a humanoid form maybe, and Adolin starts to interact with a new character without knowing it is a spren, and only realizing later on, when his identity becomes more directed to a Dustbringer one.
-
Funny you say that because he is the protagonist of the TV series Doctor Who hehe
-
I also hate this possibility, but it may be partially true at least. I mean, i think we could have the "one book for each order" statement as a fact. And that the flashback character of the order of a particular book doesnt belong to the same order just really seems wrong....i really dont think BS would do that. He already stated tat the Heralds without the honorblades are just kind of regular people...so in theory it would be possible for Shalash to become a Dustbringer. Even 'cause the lightweaver book is already done, so he wouldnt just repeat a order. It really seemfs a lot messy, but we have to trust master BS to pull it off ( even 'cause it is probably not it, and actually something really mind blowing that no one thought so far...due lack of current information most likely) There is gona be a book where the flashback character is a Dustbringer, im This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules* sure About Adolin, I also think that he will become a Dustbringer...but something tells me that he wont appear in the second half. Yes, i think that Adolin dies eventually! It always struck me as odd why Adolin wouldnt be getting his own book, and the Sadeas murder and his "dark path" to begin following gives me the idea that something bad is reserved for his future, at the fifth book, probably

Yes , i knew that the Skybreaker's oath was already Revealed. I just swap the word law for justice. But what matters in the oaths is the idea not the actual words right? This one about the Stonewards i wasnt aware. Damm, Sanderson's oaths are way better than mine hahaha And yes, I also though that the Lightweavers arent the nly order which dont have to say th regular oaths. I just didnt have any ideas to develop in that matter
