  1. hmmm. I always assumed that Returned were just infertile. It's interesting to think they they actually produce still borns. I wonder what their cells are like? Their DNA must be super intense, being able to change shape and all. I wonder if their telomerase is active. Do we know how fertile they are? Is it like a every time occurrence or just once in a while?
  2. I might be odd, but i would rather an adaptation focus on the flora/fauna over the story. Its just i feel like the world of Roshar is so well built, with many different cultures and races... If I was going to make a t.v. show, it would be anime in a similar art style to Mushi-shi. It would follow the story of some merchant or wanderer, really immersing us in the world, from the Theylana to Aimia to the Reshi Isles. It would start around the same time as the books, would move along with the books, referencing the shattered plains, everstorm, parshendi, etc., and have the occasional main book character cameo. I think if they did something like this they would not only nearly remove the risk of ruining a great story, but also help Sanderson show his awesome world.
  3. But we have seen them change shape. Syl might not be able to manage it, but a spren like Pattern, who is much better at complex math, might be able to adjust the fletchings slightly to readjust... the longest accurate shot I can find is held by Matt Stutzman who hit his target from 230 yards, just shy of two american football fields. However this is shot with an arrow that cant readjust it's course.
  4. I'm thinking that a Shardarrow and Sharderang would be useful in different situations. I would assume that a Sharderang would be more useful in a battle where accuracy is less important than mass damage, with the Sharderang you could potential cut off multiple limbs and kill others in the process. On the opposite end is the Shardarrow that excels at single target killing (I'm assuming here that having a sentient arrow makes aiming a whole lot easier). Just for refrence the furthest an arrow has been shot is just under 500 meters with a recurve bow and the furthest a boomerang has been tossed is just over 425 meters. A difference of around 200 feet.
  5. Here is the quote from SA3 Though remember that nothing is canon until print... Edit: Here is the Link (Ctrl-F Hours for a quick find) make sure to thumb up WeiryWriter I believe for the transcription...
  6. hey random slightly off top Q... can you steelpush/ironpull a shard blade? Because as far as i can tell they are made entirely of spren stuff/honor/cultivation...
  7. would it though? couldn't TLR's Goldminds heal the arm? just going off the fact that Kal could heal his arm with stormlight and all the magic systems are based around similar things... Edit... Ninja'd... double-y
  8. Just stumbled onto this discussion and wow 10 pages is impressive. I marked atheist/agnostic. If someone came up to me and asked if I believed in a god or gods, I would say maybe. There may be a higher power but I have no desire to worship it. you could say I am a Jasnatheist thats a Jasnah Atheist... In that i have the same reasoning and beliefs as Jasnah...
  9. Hmm... guess i need to go reread all those. thanks though for the correction.
  10. Sorry, there is one thing where i disagree with some of you guys... I don't think we should be seeing Harmony as just Preservation + Ruin... I kinda imagine it in the same way as two gems fusing in SU, where the new being does share characteristics of both individuals, but in the end would act more based on its new intent. If or when Odium does attack Scandrial, I don't imagine Sazed overtly destroying Rayse nor trying to preserve Scandrial, as his intent is neither longer Preservation nor Ruin but a smashing of the two. If Odium does ever arrive at Scandrial I would see Harmony trying to stop Odium by getting a perfect "harmony" against his power, and thus creating a stalemate between two forces.
  11. I am part of the group that imagines every character as overly attractive... probably has to do with media or something, but only a select few people are actually ugly (roshone being one of them).
  12. Kinda off topic, but didn't the book say somewhere that even radaint soulcasters needed to suck in stormlight from specific types of gems to soulcast things. It might have been in my mind, but ill look for it. Back to the topic of economy... Remember that the stormlight, for a while, will still be relatively unused by the common person. Except for the rare surgebinder, most people will only need to use the stormlight every couple of days to get to Urithiru , and only if they cant find a suitable shelter. And even then, the gems will be reinfused before the next Everstorm hits.
  13. Hey i was just doing a reread of WoR, and i noticed a thing in Dalinar's vision of the pure lake that really makes me think that the thunderclasts are a parshendi form. I think that the bigger "spren" is really just another form of the parshendi. possibly shadow form. and in this shadowy form parshendi can inhabit and control inanimate objects. namely stone.
  14. Hey new person here. i was told to post some questions here. and my question is: were any of the original shard holders (rayse, tanavast, ati etc.) related. we know that honor and cultivation were romantically involved, were any of them brother and sister or child parent.
  15. So, I just had a weird question about the shards. We know that they knew each other before becoming a shard (cultivation and honor) but were any of them related. I am basing this on the strange coincidence that rayse (odium) and reya (probably cultivation) have very similar names. Is this just a strange coincidence or is mr. sanderson playing with family names?
