  1. You mean we'd get Curveball's Emotionally Scarring Backstory? I'm okay with that.
  2. Personally I'd love to see the hit on Redleaf where Prof jumped out of a helicopter.
  3. Before Steelheart.... Before the Reckoners.... Before David decided assassinating him was the best way to spend a Saturday night.... ...he was Newcago's version of a classic arcade game. WHACK-A-FORTUITY Coming this summer to theaters and IMAX. Have you given your Fortuity head trauma today?
  4. I still hope he does spinoffs, though. The Reckonersverse is an awesome world, and I'm sure it will remain so even with the "fundamental setting changes" Calamity will bring.
  5. The only "idea" I have is an image of Flashpoint waltzing into the arms dealer's lair (headquarters? hideout?) with Fall Out Boy's "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" playing in the background. And I think that's chiefly because the first line of that song is "I am an arms dealer." So, yeah. Not helpful.
  6. Wow, that sucks. I know how it feels. My mom made me walk home from school my entire senior year, without explaining what she was doing or why. Only when she got mad at me for not picking my brother up from school every day during his senior year did she reveal that--surprise!--she was trying to shame me into learning to drive and I was just too dumb to get it. (The last part wasn't said, but definitely implied.)
  7. Perhaps he knew evil!Kobold was something the world just wasn't ready to face.
  8. It's a shame Collaborate's powers don't increase his intelligence.
  9. Taylor meets Neko. THE INTERNET HAS PREDICTED IT
  10. The only snarl in that plan is that I'd have a hard time fitting the words "zucchini" and "watermelon" into any song.
  11. AND TIMEPORT. We have to mute Timeport. And Electro. And Quota. Neverthere might be funny in a horrific sort of a way, same with Lightwards, and I wouldn't miss Purple Phoenix et. al's solo (duet? quartet?) for the world.
  12. Characters singing about their feelings. When we get to Nighthound, can we get some other Epic to mute him? No. You didn't go to far. It's perfect.
  13. Happy early birthday, then. I remember those waits in the cold, though—both from waiting in line and managing the restaurant's wait list. The staff is doing everything they can to get you a table within your quote time, if that helps. And if it goes over your quoted time, it's probably because there's one couple who asked for "a big booth," meaning they requested a six-person booth for two people, and they're already finished with their meal but they won't take their lovey-dovey conversation (or domestic argument, depending on what type of couple they are) elsewhere. …. There are things I miss about working in a restaurant, but campers are not one of them.
  14. I'm sorry. We get highstorms here in Arizona, which are actually pretty cool. They don't last as long as those in WoK, though; I think the longest monsoon I've seen was about 10 minutes. Are you going out for Mother's Day early?
  15. The Dalles? I was thinking Portland. MUSIC MEISTER Hello there, my Doctor dear Why won't you sing a verse? DOCTOR FUNTIMES Just one? Mister Meister Sir I wouldn't be so terse LIGHTWARDS Honestly, Funtimes Miss I didn't know you knew that word M.M. Does he always insult you so? FUNTIMES Yes, he's quite the turd…. My headcanon: He won't go to either of those cities because it's just too easy.
  16. He even has a built-in backstory, Rending included.
  17. We need this Epic. We need this Epic now.
  18. I'm allergic to the master race. Outlining is a form of writing on its own. Papers usually aren't fun to write anyway; so why would I want to write one twice?
  19. The way I see it, his in-between writing helps keep him sharp for Stormlight. That series is seriously impressive, with the level of worldbuilding and character development he's put into it, so by working on other projects while he's working on Stormlight, he's allowing his mind to wander different paths so he can return to Stormlight with fresh eyes. The same goes for when he's working on Stormlight while fans of his other books are waiting on the next book in their favorite series. I think it's a good thing for all fans, really.
  20. NOTHING BOW TO THE KITTENS BOW TO THEM Whatever floats your boat. I'd be the last person to say discovery writing is the only way to do it. Partly because I know how it feels to be told your method is WROOOOONNNNNNNG! (In school, I had a few teachers who were convinced you couldn't write a proper paper without an outline and extensive pre-writing. When they wanted the outline and pre-writing handed in with the paper, I'd just write the paper, then make an outline based on that, and scribble some notes based on what I'd already written. When they wanted the outline handed in before the paper, I'd call them names under my breath. )
  21. Oh, I've tried outlining. I've tried it more than once. Every time I tried, it either killed the story (by already writing down everything that was going to happen, I removed the need to actually write it out in prose) or, more commonly, wound up getting tossed out the window when my characters did their own thing. The only time I even came close to sticking to an outline was when I wrote a fanfic that was told in letter form every two chapters, and then close third-person for those two in-between chapters. I made the outline to get an idea of how many chapters I'd need and what would happen in each one, and I still wound up revising the outline as I went.
  22. Pantsers unite! Never mind when or where; we'll cross that bridge when we bump into it. I can't decide. Would that secondary be amazing, or horrific?
  23. I just WHOOCed Deathwish facing his fear. I couldn't resist.
