  1. Also - please note that my work has elected to move me to the day shift as of Monday, which means that a 1:00 AM rollover time is no longer feasible for me. The new rollover time will be at 9:00 MST. To accommodate this, this cycle will be extended by about 19 hours, until the new rollover time.
  2. Day 3 - To Awaken the Lightning The phone rang just as Matty was about to leave the office. He sighed and went back inside to pick up the call. “Matty Doer, aide to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of SilverPoly speaking,” he said, injecting a peppiness he did not feel into his voice. “How may I help you?” He listened to the call. “Thank you for letting us know,” Matty said faintly. His behind found its way to a swivel chair, where it fell onto the padded seat and back. That was a good thing, because Matty wasn’t sure his legs would’ve been able to support him after hearing the news in that call. Merciful Domi! he thought, massaging his forehead. Two more escaped Shards! Scholz is going to be so mad. He glanced at a calendar, a small thing with pretty pictures of a beach on Teod. Matty imagined himself there, sipping pina colada in a beach chair, surfing in the azure waves. Matty wrenched himself from that vision before the loneliness could overpower him. He’d counted out how much that would cost. Three more months. Three more months of paychecks until he could afford a week-long vacation to somewhere off of Silverlight. He could hold on for that long. Right? --------------------------- Steeldancer streaked through the plains of Nalthis, a determined look on his face. The wind streamed past Steel’s face, whipping around his hair this way and that. Beside him, Phyl weaved her way through the air, vines dissolving behind her almost as fast as they formed. If someone had been standing in the plains with him, all they would have seen was a long wake of trampled grass, stretching into the horizon as far as the eye could see. Steel ran, and ran, and ran. But over so many kilometers, across so many countries, even the thrill of moving so fast wasn’t enough to distract him from his thoughts. He couldn’t let that Eobard to anything to his sister. And yet... A bead of sweat dripped into his eyes. Steel wiped it off wearily, and kept going. “You need to rest,” Phyl said worriedly. “Can’t,” Steel panted. “Need... to reach...Hallandren.” He pushed aside the burning in his thighs, his calves, his lungs, his whole body. It didn’t matter if he was tired. He’d been tired before. This...this wasn’t so much worse… Suddenly, the wind changed direction and slammed into Steel. He lost his footing and staggered, his ankle twisting under him. It flared with pain. Steel fell to the ground, tumbling a few meters from his momentum before coming to a stop. He lay there in the grass, groaning from pain and exhaustion. “Steel!” Phyl cried as she bobbed to his side. “Oh no, this is bad.” Steel shook his head feebly at her. “No…” he forced out. “I...I’m fine.” With a grunt, he fumbled in his pockets for spheres. He sucked Stormlight from them in shuddering gasps. Slowly, his pain drained away. The fire in his ankle banked into a dull ache. Fat drops of rain plopped onto the ground. He glanced upwards, confused. Dark clouds rolled in around him, too fast to be entirely natural. Whatever. He had a job to do. Steel slowly dragged himself to his feet, standing tall against the rain. “I -- I don’t think we should do this,” Phyl said again. “This feels wrong.” “We need to get to Hallandren,” Steel said wearily. He set off in a jog, slowly building up to a sprint. Rain lashed against him angrily. Suddenly, Phyl shrieked. “He’s here! He’s here! Dodge!” Steel threw himself to the side. A heartbeat later, red lightning struck the place he’d just been standing in, leaving a blackened scorch mark. Wisps of smoke rose from it. Steel gaped at it in shock. “Phyl, what --” He never got to complete his question. Another bolt of lighting struck him fully in the chest, red as the color of blood. Phyl screamed as Steel’s lifeless body dropped to the ground. Odium watched from above with satisfaction. ------------------------ General Announcements - Alright. Whoever was involved in releasing Devotion and Endowment had better turn themselves in immediately, or I'll have the entire student body caned until someone confesses! I'm serious this time. And just so everyone is absolutely clear, I'm sending Enforcement down to arrest the SCLU for operating while under revocation of charter. - Finn Scholz Dear Mr. Scholz, While we appreciate your energy and your efforts in pursuit of stolen University property, we regret to inform you that your request to revoke the charter of the SCLU was denied by the administrative board of Silverlight. As such, your instructions to Enforcement constitute an unlawful use of your authority. This is a warning to cease and desist the use of University Enforcement while pursuing internal matters. Failure to comply will be met with sanctions. - Arinne Tekiel, Silverlight Legal Steeldancer was killed! They were a 17th Shard aligned Researcher! 3. Survival gains their extra life during the day, instead of their investment action. It lasts until the end of the night.
  4. GM note: Orlok has dropped out of the game. Please welcome A Joe in the Bush as a pinch hitter!
  5. Night Two - Survivor of Silverlight “Today, I received notice of several complaints made against a researcher,” said Finn Scholz, a smile playing on his lips. “Mr… er...‘Kelsier’, please stand up. You are accused of stealing Investiture from Odium and of bragging about your theft of the Shard Survival. What do you have to say about yourself?” From among the crowd, a man stood up. His arms were lined with long white scars, and he had a scarf tied around half his face that barely covered up the spike poking out from his eyesocket. Around him, people murmured. Kelsier. Lord of the Mists. Savior of Scadrial. Or a cosplayer with really poor taste. The Survivorists watched him intently, some with fervent devotion in their eyes, others with rage that someone would appropriate their god in such a way. Kelsier grinned lazily. “Why Scholz, I never said anything of the sort.” He gestured with his arms. “I said that I am Survival. Even the Lord Ruler wasn’t enough to kill me.” Finn beckoned to an aide and whispered something. After a few moments, the aide scurried offstage. Finn turned back to the crowd. “Mr. Kelsier, your accusers claim differently. Let us hear from them now. First shall be Met, who has been with us for many, many years.” Met stood up. “Well, I was in the break room when I heard him boasting that with the power of Survival he could live through everything. I said obviously that’s not true, because nobody can live forever, that’s just the way the Cosmere works…” he continued on, describing a long argument between him and Kelsier. Next was Elaria. “Early this morning, in one of the indoor gardens…” Finn ran through the list of accusers, Willie, and Nolan and Steel and all the others. “As you can see,” said Finn, smiling triumphantly, “this individual has clearly admitted his guilt…” The aide came back, with a note in his hand. Finn took it. For a moment, he blanched slightly, then exchanged some furiously whispered words with the aide. “Mr…whoever you may be,” he began, looking as if he had been forced to swallow a putrid sock, “it appears as if this is not the right investigation for you, and we are wasting our time here.” His left hand clenched in a fist. “However, using my power as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Silverlight Polytechnic University, I will refer you to the Office of Religious Life for religious harassment with your claims that you are the Lord of the Mists. Begone.” --- Later that day, Matty Doer, Aide to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of SilverPoly, stopped by a recycling bin and stuck his arm inside. He fumbled around for a while before pulling out a balled-up piece of paper, which he opened. He reread it, looking at those words that weren’t his but had come out of his pencil anyways. He wasn’t going mad. Was he? Working for Scholz was stressful, but not thatstressful… Maybe I should take a vacation, Matty thought. Yeah, a nice long break. That sounds good. He shredded the note and tossed it into the recycling bin, dreaming of sandy beaches under blue skies. --------------------------- TheYoungPyromancer was lynched, but survived! 6. Autonomy can put another aspect on a world where they previously had one, but it got lynched.
  7. Slight alteration to the rules as printed. If Ruin attempts to destroy a world that has a Shard or aspect of a Shard invested in it, the aspect is destroyed or the Shard is divested, but the world is not destroyed. This is a change from the original, which indicated that if Ruin destroyed a world, it automatically destroyed aspects or divested Shards.
  8. Self-targeting abilities do not trigger the Mistborn's attack.
  9. If the attack was protected by a protection role or absorbed by an extra life, yes. If it was roleblocked, no
  10. Day Two - Laws of Thermodynamics One by one, the students massed outside of the Shard Lab, black silhouettes against a navy blue sky. Laser drills, plasma cutters, and more shone faintly in the dark. One by one, they looked at each other. Dressed in somber shades, the camouflage of blacks and blues and browns and violets, they fell in formation, with an almost military precision. But underneath the uniforms lay a familiar nose here, some sparkly nail polish there. It was enough for some of the researchers to recognize each other and call out names, if they so chose. But they didn’t. One by one, they nodded to each other. Out there, under the trappings of their normal lives, they could be anyone -- friends, enemies, lovers -- but here, they were brothers and sisters in arms, united in their mutual quest for Shardic power. They would work together, for now, until they got through the containment cages. Then it would be every researcher for themselves. Three laser drills hummed in unison as they carved a hole in the walls of the lab. ------------------------- A figure that might have once been human stood on the desolate surface of the planet, dotted with a few odd rocks here and there, still littered with the bloodstains of Heralds long past. As it looked across the empty surface, something rose inside of it, awakened into a ravenous hunger by the evil and destruction that haunted the place. Once again, the Vessel cursed that impulse that had made it take just that small handful of Atium beads. But now the cat was already out of the bag, and it was too late to stuff it back in. For the first time in 24 hours, the Vessel released its tight grip on its Shard. It sighed in relief, watching swirls of black mist drift from its hands. Ohhh, that felt good. So good. There wasn’t any sapient life here within a two-kilometer radius. It had checked. No loved ones here to accidentally destroy. And if there was anybody outside of that two kilometer radius, freezing their butts off in the cold night air...well, too bad for them. The Vessel threw its arms forwards, grinning. The boulder in front of it exploded in a glorious wave of heat, a cloud of smoke mushrooming up from where it had once stood. Tiny grains of rock rained down on the Vessel. In any energy transformation, some energy becomes unavailable to do work, the still human part of the Vessel thought. Increasing heat increases the amount of disorder in a system. Oh, to hell with all of that book learning. It was still traumatized by the memory of staying up for days in a row studying for its thermodynamics quizzes, AFR=mair/mfuel and PE=mg(z2-z1). What the textbooks had all failed to mention was how fun it was. More, it thought. Yes, it needed more. It wanted more than just a simple test. It wanted to kick its sandcastle back into the nothingness where it had come from. It wanted to smash this planet into smithereens so fine that it would be raining rock dust on Roshar for weeks. The Vessel’s grin stretched wider. Braize went kaboom. ------------------------- ------------------------- General announcements: Silverlight Polytechnic campus is on lockdown until further notice. Nobody will be permitted to leave until University Enforcement has determined to their satisfaction that they were not involved in the release of the Shards Ambition, Preservation, Dominion, and Cultivation. Any who attempt to interfere with the investigative process will be severely punished to the fullest extent of the law. Also, everybody indicted in this investigation will be charged as an accessory before the fact to the destruction of Braize and its entire ecosystem. And if your precious Student Union tries to interfere, we'll see how much they can get done with a revoked charter! - Deputy Vice Chancellor Finn Scholz The Day will last for: Player List: Young Bard - Jeral Arinian - Eilen Eternum - Habrian Fifth Scholar - Darrel randuir - Met Steeldancer - Steeldancer and Eobard Thawne Straw - Straw Jondesu - Quintus Droughtbringer - Ralar Devotary of Sponteneity - Reed livinglegend - Unnamed Character 3 Orlok - Locke Tekiel MonsterMetroid - Willie Magestar - Moro Hemalurgic_Headshot - Jiamo Megasif - Mega Sart - Sam Taswell TheYoungPyromancer - Kelsier _Stick_ - Stick shanerockes - Philepe De Pedro Von Leiderhuch Johnson III Drake Marshall - Everen Elbereth - Elaria The Sand Lord (Nalthis)
  11. Cycle is closed! (10 minutes ago, but eh)
  12. I should have said that they are not counted when tabulating those win cons, in either direction
  13. The aspects on the player list do not count for the win conditions for the conversion factions
  14. Lynching an aspect of autonomy will give everyone involved a charge of the investiture.
  15. The Sand Lord has been edited into the player list.
