  1. ah, well then I stand corrected.
  2. I was thinking this exact same thing, only I was thinking that it would strt with Mistborn, and if succesful, move to all of Sanderson's works. Eventually it would get to The Stormlight Archive. Unfortunately, while I think Mistborn would work, as well as Sanderson's other works, I don't think Stormlight Archive could. Its so alien from earth, that the budget would be enormous if done right, and if it was done wrong it would just tick us all off.
  3. I'd go with Roshar, as I have light blue eyes and would become a part of a higher caste. Its kind of silly, but If I went to any other world I would have no advantage at all, since magic is determined in ways I wouldn't be able to attain it. If I went the Nalthis route I doubt I'd be clever enough to buy enough breaths to really do anything.
  4. You know, it's odd. I've never really disliked Brandon's prose. I even liked Elantris quite a bit, and I read it after Warbreaker and the Mitborn Trilogy. I might have a blind spot when it comes to the man. I'm never taken out of immersion, and his swears actually improve the immersion for me. After all, why would a world with a different history have the same swears? I'll have to re-read his works to complain about them. It's odd, though. I have complaints about ASOIAF, but not any of Sanderson's works.
  5. I don't believe it is the equivilant of death, but it changes you as puberty changes you. You're still you, but this you is aware of things in a different way than you were before. At least, for the short term. ( it is not a perfect analogy) As time goes on, you become brainwashed. I imagine this is because the shard is a focus for the intent it is named after, seeping it into you.It seems to me that a shard's intent is too pure by itself to control for long. I think Sazed's relative control is more than his personality lining up, holding contrasting shards, or even the relatively short time he held on to them. I believe it is because they diluted each other, muddling the intent and allowing Sazed to better control himself. I think he also hinted that the influence aspect was not always a part of them near the end of the Misborn Trilogy, though I don't remember the quote. Anyway, having a single shard is the most dangerous thing you could do it seems, having two seems a bit better. Preferably two that dilute each other rather than fuel each other. Dominion and Honor would be better than Odium and Dominion is what I'm saying.
  6. Agreed! Though its more than questions, its just the desire to share such a great experience and talk about it. Brandon spoiled me, getting me into reading fiction. I've picked up numerous books expecting them to be as good as his are. They very rarely are. Glad to be here, sharing the experience.
  7. Hello members of the 17th Shard, my name is Drakard. Well... at least for the moment. I've stalked here for a while, never really bothered to sign up. But I've been a fan of Brandon Sanderson ever since I read Mistborn in my Junior year. Ever since then, I've read nearly everything he's published, and am never dissapointed. He got me to read the Alaran Codex, too. Simply because he endorsed it, I figured it must be good. It was even thanks to him that I got into writing as a hobby. In short, I've been a fan for a long time. Never wanted to join a fansite though, not until today. Not until I finished the Words of Radiance. I must say, the end... and I know you know what I'm talking about, really floored me. Now, I knew he had his books all in the same universe, (not included Alcatraz, and the Rithmatist. Though I would thoroughly enjoy if the Rithmatist was.) but I never paid it too much attention. Alas, it seems my willful ignorance is at an end. I've decided to join this site so as to share my appreciation with other who understand. After all, you can only tell your friends they should read for so long before you realize they never will. So here I am! To make new friends and share in the experience. So hello, and I hope I become a permanant mark on the landscape that is the 17th Shard.
  8. Been a fan of Brandon for 5 years now. Read nearly everything he's ever written. He still amazes me.
