  1. Just under 4 hours left! Get your votes and actions in!
  2. Alright, there's been plenty of drama today, but do not try taking this to a personal level. I understand that this is a faction game, and there is bound to be some tension, but please remember that the foremost goal is having fun, above all else. Carry on.
  3. Earlier votes do not have to be retracted in the first post for future votes to count, though I would prefer that.
  4. The "Canton of Information" chart in each faction doc should now be updated to reflect your current boxing, koloss, and kandra totals. Also, 2 more clarifications: You will not be informed of which factions attacked your faction, or how many koloss they sent. You will just have to deduce this from your number of koloss after a night is over. The Inquisitor cannot Spike the same person more than once.
  5. Day 1: On the Eve of Battle We knew that plans were brewing in the minds of the other leaders -- Straff Venture, Ashweather Cett, Jastes Lekal, and Ferson Penrod -- but we had no idea as to the extent to which they planned. In retrospect, we were almost certainly doomed from the start. A Steel Inquisitor looked out over the slums of Luthadel. Below, a small figure exited a nearby dwelling, a cloak hiding their face. They glanced furtively about, then scampered off. That’s your target, the voice spoke in the Inquisitor’s ear. Subdue them. The Inquisitor nodded and jumped off the building onto the ground below, running off in pursuit. - - - - - Straff Venture looked up at the walls of Luthadel that stood before him in the mists of the night. Thinking about the fact that his own son -- his own son -- had somehow slipped control of such a mighty city made him sick. It won’t be his for long, Straff thought to himself, coughing. “Gah! Where is Amaranta?” “She’s off on the other side of the camp, my liege,” an officer spoke. “Then tell her to get over here!” Straff roared. “What is she even doing off there?” The officer quickly saluted and ran off into the large maze of tents that comprised the Venture encampment. The Venture soldiers were not in their finest form, many of them laughing uncontrollably and falling over in a drunken stupor. This would simply not do. The attack on the city had to begin soon. Straff breathed in the night air, then burned tin, piercing through the thick, roiling mists. To the southwest, Cett’s encampment was illuminated by a great number of torches, though there were noticeable indications that Cett had been mobilizing his army for combat. Few men seemed to be sitting around; most were walking about the camp, likely setting up siege engines and supplying the Allomancers’ incoming shipments of metal. Cett did, of course, have control over the canals of the Western Dominance. To the east, Lekal seemed to be in a similar situation, their troops shuffling about the camp, delivering various materials to different locations. Straff wasn’t sure how the fool lad had managed to commandeer such a large army as quickly as he did; the boy could hardly say his own name, yet he’d somehow rallied those idiots to his cause. No matter, they’d be easy to eliminate. “Any news as to the state of the other camps?” Straff shouted to one of his advisors. “They appear to be on the eve of battle, my liege. They have certainly been preparing to strike soon, before your son can manage to find any reinforcements to reach Luthadel.” Straff snorted. “Reinforcements? And how is any army going to get past our encampments and into Luthadel?” “They do not need to; if they slip into our camps, they may be able to kill our men from the inside.” “Bah,” Straff waved a hand dismissively, extinguishing his tin. “That’s a risk we’ll have to take. I think we shall wait.” “Wait, sire?” “Yes, wait for one of them to draw the first blood.” - - - - - Someone has been spiked by the Steel Inquisitor! Day 1 begins now and will end in 47 hours. Remember: only copper and brass may be used during the Day turn. Good luck!
  6. An hour and nine minutes left before Night 0 ends!
  7. Receiving a vial is not an action, so yes, a player with multiple types of metals can use one and then request a different vial at the same time.
  8. More question-answering: There is only one Steel Inquisitor. You will not be informed if someone used copper, bronze, iron, or brass on you. You will be informed if you were attacked (as well as whether you were attacked by Flared Steel or koloss) and survived. A smoker will not be informed if a seeker attempts to scan them or the other player in their coppercloud, or if someone pierces the coppercloud. If an attacking koloss is defeated by a player Burning Pewter, the attacking faction will not be informed that this occurred. However, the player Burning Pewter will be informed that they killed an opposing koloss. A Spiked coinshot kill will be indistinguishable from a non-Spiked coinshot kill. Also, remember that you may not copy/paste information from PMs (your role PM or tin conversations) anywhere else, including the thread and your faction doc. You are allowed to paraphrase information.
  9. No. Also, before anyone asks, voting for anyone else who is not participating in the game or has died in the game will not give you a boxing. It must be an actual, lynchable player other than yourself.
  10. Good luck with that.
  11. You can't trade metals or boxings amongst players or factions. (The only exception to this is the one vial that a non-allomancer may steal, since they may give that to whomever they wish.)
  12. The boxing reward for posting (not voting) counts if a player votes on a Day turn or the preceding Night turn. Also, since I didn't cover this much, here's a bit of an elaboration on the nightly faction actions: Faction actions (purchasing or using koloss/kandra) are submitted at the top of your faction's document, under where it says "Night [#] Actions". Whatever is placed last there will be accepted, as long as there is some sort of agreement about it (everyone doesn't have to be in consensus, but one player can't just come in at the last moment and change the action orders); if this occurs, it'll just revert to whatever it was before.
  13. Question-answering time! You may name your faction's kandra, as long as the name is kandra-esque and does not reveal any game-pertinent information. It will be noted in the write-up whether someone was Spiked. You may not order koloss to attack your own faction. You will learn a kandra's name if it is stolen with Flared zinc. You may not use koloss or kandra the same Night turn that they are bought.
  14. Night 0: Ashen Skies I, Sazed, Keeper of Terris, write these words on the steel walls of my cell. Things are not as they should be. The world itself seems to have shifted, almost unnoticeably, but with catastrophic consequences. I think it is best to begin this tale at the night when the siege began, where it ought to. Perhaps, by reading these accounts, future generations can discover where we went wrong. I hope, I pray to some Forgotten God, that the world can still be saved. For, already, many friends have died, and I fear that I will soon join them. The red, ashen sun set upon Luthadel. Far below it, atop the wall of Luthadel, stood a small group of soldiers, peering off into the mists at the army that laid beyond it. “It’s funny,” one of the soldiers said, stroking his scraggly beard. “Over a year after the Lord Ruler’s death, and things still haven’t seem to have changed much.” “Things haven’t changed?” asked another man, cocking his head. “The world’s practically been turned upside down. We’re in control of the empire now, and--” “Are we really?” the bearded man said. “Look out into the mists. Three armies sit outside our own walls, ready to pounce and take Elend’s throne. One of them is his own father’s. So tell me, do you really think that we’re in control of this empire?” “I suppose not.” “We are still in the same place in this world. The world still spins, the ash still falls, the mists still swirl in the nights.” “The Lord Ruler wasn’t god, like the stories said. He couldn’t control those things. The only reason he survived as long as he did was because of some sort of Allomancy. He wasn’t god.” “True,” the bearded man sighed, glancing out of the corner of his eye at a man running frantically towards the soldiers. “But this just proves my point. All we’ve done is killed a man, not a god. We’re not invincible.” “Sir!” the man running towards the soldiers shouted. Captain Demoux shouldered his way to the front of the group, and inclined his head towards the man. “Ah, Lieutenant Goradel. What news do you have from Haverfrex?” Goradel nodded towards Demoux. “Sir, the city has been taken over by Ashweather Cett. I’m afraid they will be of no assistance to us.” “And the surrounding districts?” “Well, they have a sizeable number of troops, but…” “Yes?” Goradel sighed. “They don’t see supporting Elend as any of their concern. As we’ve feared, few outside of Luthadel actually consider themselves subjects of our new empire.” Demoux put a hand to his face, slowly breathing out. “Okay…” “And that’s not the worst news.” Goradel paused, glancing cautiously at the other men on the wall. “Some of our own men have defected to Ferson Penrod’s side.” “Penrod?” Demoux asked. “Didn’t he recently try to get the Assembly to overthrow Elend?” “And he failed,” Goradel nodded. “But apparently he’s decided that if he can’t take the crown by votes, he’ll take it by force. He’s managed to get himself a sizeable mob, comprised of defectors from our own soldiers and the other armies.” “So that’s now four enemies we’re dealing with,” Demoux said, rubbing his forehead as Goradel slowly nodded. “By the Survivor, we had better come up with a plan to survive this siege.” Goradel nodded wistfully, looking off over the wall at the ash and mist swirling about. “I’m not sure that we can. But we’ll try.” - - - - - Welcome, everyone! The only actions available tonight are faction koloss/kandra purchases, vial distribution, and Inquisitor spiking. Remember: if you have multiple metals available, you must respond to the PM I gave you to choose which vial to receive, or you will not receive any. If you did not receive a PM from me yet, please tell me. This turn will end in exactly 24 hours from now, and your faction docs are now open. Good luck!
  15. Sign-ups are now over! I should be able to give everyone their role PMs within the next hour, and the game will officially begin then. Please note that you will not be able to access your faction docs until the Night 0 thread is up.
  16. 1 hour left before sign-ups close!
  17. Um... okay. Also, just over 24 hours left before sign-ups conclude!
  18. I'll probably try to divide them as evenly as possible, but it doesn't need to be perfect. After all, there are plenty of aspects of each faction I can mess with to try to balance them a bit.
  19. Important note: Due to unexpected circumstances, I will not be around at all on Sunday, so the sign-ups will officially end this upcoming Monday, June 27, at 9 PM EST, and the game will begin an hour later.
  20. There are no secret roles. I considered adding additional roles to the game, but I figured it was complicated enough as it is.
  21. Up through Night 0, it's before the Siege, but afterwards, it's during the Siege itself.
  22. According to the chronology page on the coppermind wiki, the Siege of Luthadel occurred the year following the end of TFE, and the end of WoA was the year following the Siege.
  23. I don't know; maybe they'll just have to face each other in a dance contest or something to see who survives. If multiple factions attack the same faction with koloss, one of those attacking factions will be randomly determined to attack first with 1 koloss, and then it will cycle between the attacking factions, each attacking with a single koloss, until a player from the faction is attacked, or there are no attacking koloss remaining. Only 1 person from each faction can be killed by koloss during the Night, no matter how many factions attack them.
  24. Sure, I'll get that set up in a few minutes. Each kandra that a faction recruits has a given name that cannot be changed, no matter what. There could be a benefit in knowing another kandra's name, but I'll leave it to you guys to figure out what that is.
  25. The Inquisitor's spikes won't have enhanced abilities. Burned Iron will only downgrade Flared Steel; Flared Iron blocks all Steel uses from harming the target. Both would take a loss, since all of the attacks happen simultaneously. Basically, koloss won't return to their original factions until the Night is over.
