  1. Twi's got Heinz Doofenshmirtz's parents. They're over-the-top to the point of laughability until you realize someone actually had to live with them.
  2. They're worried you'll take up voodoo and turn them into crawdads?
  3. CAUTION 'MURICA BELOW SPOILER PROCEED WITH MAXIMUM PATRIOTISM
  4. According to the Batman animated series, Selena Kyle's trying to establish a mountain lion sanctuary right outside Gotham City limits. I'm all for conservation, but I can't help but feel it's a bad idea in the specific case of Gotham City. I predict a dramatic upward slope in the number of mountain lion - themed supervillains in the coming months.
  5. Step 1: Watch Batman: The Animated Series. Step 2: Observe the Penguin treat his pet vulture with more respect than his human henchmen. Step 3: Beat your head against the table as you realize you're not half as original as you thought you were.
  6. I'm... not really sure how anyone expects to foster a predisposition towards stable monogamous relationships with a rule like that.
  7. You can have our guns and backwards arbitrary measurement system when you pry them from our cold dead fingers! ("Cold" to be defined in Fahrenheit, of course. In American.)
  8. Darn metric system, scheming to burn our cookies.
  9. And this is why my family doesn't vote at all. The game is rigged and the rules are written by liars and cheaters. We have no interest in playing.
  10. Somehow this song is even cooler with a female Polish singer. Though my apologies if there's any Polish profanity in here--I really have no idea what the words mean.
  11. It'd become the only religion in which "coming closer to God" means "crawling under the table, curling into a ball, and sobbing loudly along with him."
  12. OOGA CHAKKA OOGA CHAKKA OOGA OOGA OOGA CHAKKA...
  13. Complete rubbish. Amelia Pond's one of the strongest companions of the modern era. River Song uses and outwits the Doctor on a regular basis. Sally Sparrow from Blink and Madge from The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe are some of the most fascinating, not to mention toughest, characters on the whole show. I don't get why anyone would call this man sexist. Is it because Amy wears a short skirt on occasion? It's more than Leela wore, and I don't see anyone tearing into the classic era writers over it. Is it because all of his female characters have devoted relationships with the men in their lives? The men are equally as devoted, and anyone who thinks that women can't be both strong characters and deeply in love are guilty of a more dire sin of misogyny than they're accusing others of committing. So yeah. I don't understand the accusations. I might be wrong--might--but I tend to think that most of the misogyny-accusers are people who dislike Moffat for more subjective reasons and are attempting to justify their distaste through the most tenuous of arguments. Only barely relevant, but my mother spends half of all her television time ranting about misogynistic writers, and even she adores Moffat's female characters, even holding them up as examples that other writers should follow. Make of that what you will.
  14. Season 8 was the only season I really had a problem with. I'm not a fan of Clara as a character, but I liked most of her stories in seasons 7 and 9. I was wary of Peter Capaldi at first, but he won me over wholesale in The Magician's Apprentice. If anything, my only real problem with Moffat is that he's not strict enough at hiring secondary writers, letting a few rubbish episodes like Into the Dalek through the filter. But then, Rusty had the same problem sometimes. So yeah. Of all my criticisms of the show, Moffat's writing has never been one of them.
  15. I'm not upset. Really. B-best thing to happen to the show. I-I'm not upset at all.
  16. It's definitely less of a one-sided argument than the "Twilight Sparkle vs Rainbow Dash" debate on the same page. Our favorite purple alicorn has the demonstrated magic to take on half the supervillains in fiction, and any episode in which she doesn't is pure plot convenience.
  17. There's an argument raging somewhere about whether Discord or Bill Cipher would win in a fight. Summary of the debate: "There's no way Discord could win against someone of equal power to him. I mean, he's constantly bested by colorful ponies with only a fraction of his magical power!" "Right. So, just to be clear, your money's on the guy who can't handle a couple of twelve year-olds?" It's gotten surprisingly heated.
  18. Theoretically, but bad things tend to happen to unscrupulous people who break into the heart of the TARDIS.
  19. ...I literally just closed the Wikipedia tab on Chinchillas. And then I load up the forum and see this.
  20. It's a science fiction novel... I'll let you know if it introduces a planet of psychotic talking weasels. In his defense, he's talking about people voluntarily deciding not to breed in order to eliminate negative attributes from the population, for the good of society. I get the feeling from his writing that he'd find the idea of concentration camps to be utterly revolting. Nonetheless, the idealistic fantasies of pre-Holocaust eugenicists always inspire a bit of a cringe from the modern reader.
  21. You know what's disconcerting? To be happily reading a book published in the 1930s, enjoying it, taking in all of its cool concepts, and then coming to a chapter that cheerfully describes eugenics as the path to a better future.
  22. That'd be Comatose, as your local GM, and TwiLyghtSansSparkles, as the overarching GM and presiding demigoddess of the Reckoners RP.
  23. I think that newcomers should bear in mind that What Happened in Oregon is as much a collaborative fanfiction as it is a roleplay. The goal of the game is not to advance your character's power or to "win" in some way. It is to tell a great story. This is why we frown on members being overly secretive. Keeping secrets (aside from pieces of character development meant to be surprising revelations) benefits no one and can put gum in the gears that drive this massive project. Please be forefront and open when it comes to character powers and other characteristics deemed important by your GMs.
