Sorry if this theory is out there. If it is, I couldn't find it. We know that lerasium has an unknown effect that has something to do with rewriting Spiritual DNA. Assuming that Hold has not used the bead yet (making the scene in WoR where he appears to use allomancy a red herring), he could potentially use it to overwrite his inability to hurt people. It seems to me that this restriction on Hoid has to be Spiritual in nature because only manipulation of Spiritual DNA can have such a fundamental effect. Considering that lerasium can rewrite spiritual DNA, I think Hoid is saving the bead to rewrite his own Spiritual DNA in case he ever needs to hurt someone. Not being able to harm anyone seems a pretty big limitation on Hoid considering his goals are so massive and complicated. Over the course of his journey when he has no other choice he will probably need to hurt someone. The lerasium bead can give him that ability when he needs it. He hasn't used it yet because hurting people is against his nature, and he's just waiting for the right moment for when he needs it. He also probably wants to use allomancy (which is a side effect). Somewhat unrelated question. If Hoid wants to use allomancy off Scadrial, how does he channel Preservation's power? Metals are only the connection to Preservation which actually fuels allomancy. My theory is that he just needs a strong Connection to Preservation or find a way to fuel it with other forms of investiture. Apparently all the magic systems are part of the same magic system so there's probably more to see on that.

I don't think it's necessary to have a complete and deep understanding of Parshendi culture to predict this. He was able to foresee the reemergence of the Knights Radiant. This means he knows the voidbringers are coming back, and he also knows how. Even if he didn't know about the listener forms, how they worked, and their ability to call the Everstorm (despite him possessing a lot of lost knowledge about the desolations and the KR), he DID know the Parshendi would have a crucial role in it. He knew they would transform. He didn't even try to weaken the Parshendi at all. Their existence is known, their importance is know, their location is known. A theory as to why he may need the Everstorm has to do with the cycle of Desolations and Odium. Potentially the desolation (termed the Final Desolation) needs to happen to defeat Odium once and for all. Another theory is that a shard maybe influencing the Diagram. What Taravangian perceives as a fit of pure intelligence may actually have been influenced by a shard (maybe Cultivation, maybe Odium).

I posted this on r/stormlight_archive, but I also want to see what you guys have to say. So does Taravangian not know about what is happening with the Parshendi? It seems that if he truly wanted to save everyone from what's happening he would've sent Szeth to kill the Parshendi leadership (Eshonai, her sister, etc) to prevent them from discovering stormform and calling the Everstorm. Several possibilities exist. He was not able to predict that the Parshendi would discover forms of power (during his hyper-intellengence state). This seems unlikely because he knew the Everstorm would come and new that parshmen would be the change. Also, he was able to predict the emergence of the Knights Radiant. I don't see why he could not have predicted the forms of power given the preponderance of evidence. If he had just killed off all the important Parshendi and they never discovered stormform, there would be no Everstorm or anything. There would be no need for all this convoluted nonsense of killing world leaders and becoming king of the world to survive. I realize there isn't a guarantee that stormform wouldn't be discovered, but Taraganvian didn't even try. He did predict the Everstorm, and he wanted it to occur for whatever reason. He had the opportunity to prevent it and willingly chose not to. Maybe become in the long run it provides some unforeseen opportunity.

I feel like the Doctor would be more of a Hoid-type character.

Is there any direct textual evidence or WoB that those two figures in Dalinar's vision have sworn all of their oaths? I would look it up myself, but I do not have a copy of the book available.

I suppose my problem is that Kaladin has access to an ability when he does not have access to the Surge that grants that ability. Well, I'm assuming he doesn't have access... That is a badass theory. If this turns out to be true, I don't believe it would be because Syl is a honorspren. She speaks as though there are more honorspren than just her and to think there can be several or many all-Surge-granting spren is a little far fetched. However, she does seem to be close to the Stormfather, and her memories may not have come back fully. Maybe she is a higher order of honorspren or something else entirely which would make her special.

I am sorry if something similar has been posted already, but I have a few questions about the surge Regrowth and Kaladin in general. Szeth's seemed to imply, in his conversation with Taravangian that Knights Radiant had the ability to heal Shard-severed limbs. Taravangian placates Szeth by saying one of the Honorblades that allow Regrowth must have been stolen. My question is: if healing Shard-severed limbs requires Regrowth, how can Kaladin have done it? Is Kaladin somehow different than other Radiants (as Sanderson sometimes seems to imply)? Kaladin also seems to have the ability to ride the storms and he also has glimpsed Shadesmar, albeit breifly. Is Kaladin more that he seems, or am I just reading into the text too much?

I think we are all assuming that all three of these characters will survive. Sanderson has said several times that he does not mind killing off characters. So we have to consider the fact that Shallan, Kaladin, Adolin, or any combination of the three could be dead soon.

I believe highspren are responsible for the Skybreakers.

I'm leaning more and more to the idea that Shardplate is a kind of fabrial. However, it also requires an active Nahel Bond to function to its full extent. I'm getting this from when the Stormfather tells Dalinar that he will be a Radiant with no Shards. If we can assume that Shardplate is in fact a Shard (rather than a misnomer) then the spren have a very active role in its functionality. Shardplate also has some advanced features that became apparent when Adolin was fighting the Parshendi in their stormform. Adolin's plate sort of absorbed the red lightning (I think). This leads me to believe that Shardplate has many features yet undiscovered.

Just like spren are of Honor, I think stormlight is of Cultivation (the other shard on Roshar).

Remember the quote from Szeth, "Holding his breath, he clung to the Stormlight. He could still feel it leaking out. Stormlight could be held for only a short time, a few minutes at most. It leaked away, the human body too porous a container. He had heard that the Voidbringers could hold it in perfectly." My theory is that Shardplate was used by the Knights Radiant to retain Stormlight more efficiently.
