This may be a stupid question, or idea, but.... There I was, thinking about Hoid the other day, and the fact that it is apparent that he is able to use or access several forms of magic from different worlds in the Cosmere Specifically I believe that Hoid uses or references: Allomancy (we have a WoB on this one, as Hoid mixes something into his mug while attempting to change people's reaction to his story), lightweaving (to make images in the smoke while telling Kaladin a little story, and mentions having Perfect Pitch before playing his flute) making a reference to BioChroma. So that is when it struck me. Hoid was SURGEBINDING. He used Lightweaving. How on earth (or Roshar I guess) did he do that??? From everything we know (at least everything I know anyhow), surgebinding requires a Nahel Bond. Does Hoid have a Spren?

I was just browsing through here, and something struck me as kind of odd right off of the bat (for several reasons...). This may not be pertinent, so feel free to shame me if needed. We know that there is no tectonic activity on Roshar, soooooo: where exactly did the continent come from? How are there mountains? Not only mountains, but mountain ranges (that appear to have no correlation to prevailing wind direction via highstorms.) Geologically, this map makes no sense.

I think that there is a WoB somewhere, where he said that it would be almost impossible to re-awaken a dead-spren shardblade without the original bearer... I think...

Is it possible that the shardpools (if that is what they are) are gates that link all 3 realms (physical, cognitive and spiritual), rather that just being doorways between the cognitive and physical? would this allow/explain the elantrian effect?

I think that it might be important to give the "The person who calls himself Taln" comment a little bit of weight. Obviously, Taln is back, because a desolation has started, and we have this WoB -Q: What caused a Desolation to end? Was it just the defeat of Odium's forces? Because the Desolations start when the Heralds break under torture. -A: Because the Heralds can no longer be in existence. There is a certain period of time that they can be there, and after that, if they're there, they will start a new one. So the Heralds do need to leave for a Desolation to end. -Q: Oh. So they've got a time limit. -A: They do. Otherwise the Desolation will start again. What they discovered is not all of them have to. As long as one remains, the Desolation will not start again. But we also have this one: -Q: Did Hoid switch out the blades? -A: Hoid did not switch out the blades, but good question. So, all we really know, is that Taln (must) be back, and also that Hoid (i'm going to take that further and say nobody else either) swapped out the shardblades (which have very different descriptions from WoK to WoR).. So, If Taln in Wok has one sword, and Taln in WoR has a different sword, AND the swords weren't switched.... THEN either the shardblade is an autobot, or its not the same Taln (i.e. if the swords weren't switched, then the man must have been)

I believe that the evidence of Nalan being there comes from WoK, page 21 "Elhokar, the king's son and heir, sat at a high table, ruling the feast in his father's absence. He was in conversation with two men, a dark skinned Azish man who had an odd patch of pale skin on his cheek, and a thinner, Alethi looking man who kept glancing over his shoulder." At least that is how it struck me, based upon this: -"A man stood before him, wearing a crisp black and silver uniform. He had dark brown skin like a man from the Makabaki region, but had a pale mark on his right cheek in the shape of a small hooked crescent" WoR pg 1062 -the stormlight archive wiki says that the Azish are one of the tribes of Makabaki ALSO: both of these quotes are from Szeth's PoV. The first from the night of the assassination of Gavilar, and the second from when Szeth gets raised from the dead. Immediately after Nalan tucks away the glowing fabrial, Szeth and he have the following little tidbit of conversation: "I recognize you," Szeth realized. "I've seen you somewhere before." "You have." (those page numbers come from the kindle ap on my pc, so I dont know how they translate to the print version)

All this talk of "vengeance" and "Justice"... Don't we have a WoB telling us one of the oaths of the Skybreakers? something like: "I will put the law above all else" (the second ideal, I believe) Isn't there a pretty distinct line between vigilantism (taking the law into your own hands) and vengeance (gettin some old fashioned revenge)? Although I think that the justice of it might make our assassin in white feel some warm fuzzies as he hacks his way through the people that declared him Truthless, I don't know that a true Skybreaker could do the same for the same reasons....

Using the almighty power of the search function in my kindle app, it appears that the word "leather" is used 22 times in WoR.. why does using it to describe the bandolier make the bandolier special? we have -leather vests leather jerkins leathers (worn by bridgemen) leather squares leather sparring leathers leather satchel bound leather portfolio heavy leathers.. blah blah blah

Why couldn't they be actual Skybreakers? what about that bit that one of the orders didn't break their vows, but pulled a great subterfudge on the other orders?

Hi There, first time posting... In responce to the question about Eshonai being the "Explorer".. (I hope this hasn't been addressed yet, if so.. Sorry!) Isn't she an interlude character (as in, other than an occasional sighting, and one big fight, aren't all her appearances in the WoR in interlude chapters)? There is a quote by Brandon out there (Sorry, I cant find it atm) where he said that the interlude characters will not become main POV characters... wouldn't it be odd then, to include her (as the "Explorer"), in a list of characters that are known to be main POV characters? Just wondering... -J
