  1. I think it has to do with the nature of the Wind Runners, they seem to be a strictly warrior order of the knights radiant. The elsecallers, lightbenders, truthwatchers, and Bondsmiths don't seem to be combat oriented.

I think he is the only combat oriented one we have seen so far. Except maybe Lift who is an edge dancer, but she isn't a warrior she is just a kid. A strange one at that as well.

  2. I personally favor the theory that he will be the first to reawaken a dead Shardblade (specifically, his own). His behavior regarding Blade is a little odd for most Alethi: he talks to it, and he refuses to give it a new name.

That is a theory i like. Is this your pet theory? or is there a larger thread some where for this?

  3. I'm not sure Adolin did cover his tracks very well at this point.  He wasn't planning this--he didn't know Sadeas would be there, so he didn't  have time to plan any sort of cover-up.  He did, however, definitely have a short moment to think about what he was doing and decide to do it--"I'm not like my father" he paused to say, and then he killed. It wasn't pre-mediated, but it wasn't completely heat-of-the-moment either.   He also chose to try to hide what he'd done...but I doubt he had time to fully think through how to cover up his involvement.

I'm not sure what I think.  It isn't the Adolin that I thought I knew--and yet it sort of is, too.  We've got plenty of murderers in our cast.  Shallan.  Jasnah, most likely, if the hints that she's dealt with assassins for more than just watching are true.  Dalinar, from his early days, certainly.  Why does Adolin joining their ranks feel worse, (at least to me)? Because he hides?  Because he doesn't (yet) show remorse?

Because it was out of character, he was always about battles and duels and challenging. Knifing a guy in a dark alley, that is not Adolin.

  4. Sadeas was a rat, but killing him didn't seem in character for Adolin, he was always about duels and challenges etc.So ya I'm not supportive of it. Sadeas needed to die, but if it was going to be him being knifed in a hall by someone it shouldn't of been Adolin. If Adolin was going to kill him it should of been in a fight either a duel (unlikely) or in battle.

The imagery of his white horse being killed was foreshadowing I think. Adolin has started on a dark path, or at least a grey one. Do I think he is going to become a villain? probably not, but I think he is going to be confused, maybe more so than Moash was at the end of the book.

  5. 1. the Sons of Honour, Restares, Amaram, Gavilar were known members. Sought to restore the Voidbringers in order to bring back the Heralds.

    2. The Ghostbloods - agenda is unknown. Mraize, Thaidakker, and Veil are known members.

    3. Skybreakers, led by Nalan'Elin, - agenda is to prevent the rise of the Knights Radiant in the hope of forestalling a new Desolation. Also warring against stone shamanate of Shinovar.

    4. Envisagers - agenda is to restore the Knights Radiant by placing themselves in positions of physical peril. May all be dead.

    5. Taravingian & the Diagrammists.  Agenda to protect humanity from the coming storm. Willing to do anything necessary to do so.

    6. Stone Shamanate. Made Szeth "truthless" for unclear motives. Protecting the Honorblades (presumably for 4500 years) but have shown no desire to assume responsibility for humanity. Opposed to the return of the Knights' Radiant.

7.17th Shard. Looking for Hoid/Wit. Agenda: to stop his interference in Roshar/ Rosharian system. Presumably sent by the "old Reptile"/Dragon on Yolen.

    8. Wit: - Agenda: to return the Knights Radiant and destroy Odium. May be willing to destroy humanity/Alethkar on Roshar to do so.

    9. Zahel.- Agenda- not clear.

What about Eshonai's sister? Her name escapes me at the moment but it seemed that her and her scholars might of been some sort of secret group with an agenda.

  6. Another question regarding the secret societies is how many of them was Gavilar involved with?

Both the Diagram and the Sons of Honour reference Gavilar, and Gavilar's visions. Which I'm amazed not to see a thread about on the forums, unless I missed it?

And clearly Gavilar knew about the Ghostbloods as well.

I've no idea, but I think the Diagram just knew of Gavilar, I think the Sons of Honor (they are the ones that want to bring back the voidbringers ya?) were the group he was a part of/head of and the Ghost bloods were just their opposite number.

Honestly I think we might need some sort of cheat sheet, listing all known secret societies and who their members are.

  7. I dunno, we have the perfect seeds for jealousy here here in Adolin, everyone he knows is a radiant. He just did something that many would consider wrong and will be investigated. The stress of keeping the murder of Sadeas secret, dealing with his jealousy of not being a knight, the death of his horse which he really really loved and then the possibly getting jealous if Shallan/Kaladin start making eyes at each other (which I hope doesn't happen). That entire mix just screams at me "he's going bad" or at least "he's gonna get tarnished".

  8. So did anyone feel like Adolin's white horse dying was really heavy foreshadowing?

Prior to the horses death he was a literal knight on a white horse. Now he has killed Sadeas, and everyone in his family is a radiant but him. He seems to be perfectly poised to go bad or maybe not full bad but at least get tarnished.

  9. The whole arc of Kaladin and Dalinar bothered me because it basically boiled down to really poor communication. I really dislike plots that depend on that. Had Dalinar told his trusted captain who saved his life his sons life etc repeatedly that he was investigating his claims instead of "seeming to dismiss them" then Kaladin's whole character arc could of been avoided.

  10. Renarin apparently hears his Shardblade scream when he touches it. I don't think someone bonded to a voidspren would do that. Also, his precognition was a major motivation for the offensive that found the Oathgate. While it did leave the army exposed to the Everstorm, it would have happened eventually anyway.

The problem with that is that it isn't confirmed, Kaladin just sort of says it and Renarin agrees. I think he is a deep spy myself. His whole role in the book basically passively does stuff to hinder everyone. Also joining bridge 4 so early, he's positioned really well to strike.

  11. Something is wrong with the Skybreakers as a whole. What ever they were is not what they once were.

I think there are no Skybreakers at this point, it's just a secret society founded by a crazy herald. Not the actual order that was in the knights radiant.
