Inkthinker Mistwraith 2.0

The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image.

Second take.

Not nearly as blobby (still a little bit of flesh-sack action), still pretty chaotic but lifting it off the ground some helps.

Also dumped the bird wing (I'd forgotten that there are no birds on Scadrial) and the oversized insect-looking limbs in favor of more misshapen semi-mammalian bits. I also tried to detail up a bit the muscles and bones inside, since they're meant to be visible through the "smoky skin".

Thoughts? It's okay if it's still not working for you, but it's helpful to be specific. Do you think the hair looks right? Or should mistwraiths be hairless (figuring that it's both A)disgusting and 2)an advanced transformation technique more suitable to the kandra)?

truthfully, from a side-glance this looked like an orgy.

But good Job, and I suggest keep the hair.

In contrast, I'd say ditch the hair. In the books, hair was specifically mentioned as something that was both difficult and took time to get right, and I doubt it's something a mistwraith would particularly care about.

That said, it's a really fantastic piece, and definitely gives off the horrific vibe a mistwraith 'should'. But it still feels too...organized. From what I read and interpreted, Mistwraiths just absorbed bones and put them to work after digesting the body with no care for rhyme or reason, and there is a LOT of 'reason' in this piece. Almost a whole horse on one side, for instance. Why isn't, say, that horse skull part of a pseudopod, with a human ribcage and spine for the 'calf' of it?

Really fantastic though I feel its too radical. I don't think a Mistwraith would pick up every body and bone it came across (as it looks this one has). I wouldn't think a scavenger would find enough to feed so much body. Perhaps three full skeletons of mixed bones, exchanging one or two for some new ones. Plus you have a lot of mind power required to move so many muscles and limbs Perhaps some of the thinner limbs could have the outline of bones and the eye sockets black since there would be no eyes.

But that's all speculation and opinion. A very remarkable (and challenging, I assume) piece and the first attempt at a mistwraith I've seen.
