So anyways lately i’ve been doing nothing but thinking about my Stormlight fanfic idea.

It’s about Kaladin and Gaz becoming friends, based on altering 1 extremely minor, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in The Way Of Kings.
(I have a crippling fear of rejection about these things, so sharing them is kind of hard.)
when Kaladin tries to win over the bridge 4 crew with food n friendship, Gaz walks by to check in on them. Kaladin offers him a bowl of stew and he sorta sneers and walks off. So i’ve been thinking a lot about what would happen if he were to actually accept that offer. Not like, sit and hang with the bridge crew because that would just make everyone involved unhappy, but in the sense of a small act of spontaneous kindness that eventually leads to the two of them being able to actually talk and work things from there.

I’ll probably write more about it because i’m a sucker for stories of unlikely friendships like that.

I love this idea.  Gaz and Kaladin could have been friends if things had been different.  Who knows maybe they still will be?

After all Gaz will probably become a squire to Shallan.  I think it would be cool if Gaz became a full lightweaver, but a squire would be fine too.

Sorry omg i just saw this comment now! I don't get comment notifications orz. Also i'd really love to see that. I think Gaz has a pretty noticeable character arc. All i want out of the books is for him and Kaladin to talk things out at least once... Even if it's just Kal yelling at him. The spoiler part might make things REALLY interesting.

Yeah and maybe Dalinar sends them both on a mission.  That would be funny and awesome.

Well, in Oathbringer, Gaz says

that maybe, if he had been nicer to the bridgemen, he could have been a squire. Which is actually kind of true.
