lukaash Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Hello, I wanted to talk about the use of connection across the cosmere and its possible uses if ever have a worldhopper that could could use connection like a bondsmith. First of all, they would have access to every power on sel. Very ironically though, they wouldn't be able to use the power on Sel because intent is also super big. A more interesting one is when we look at places like Scadrial. With connection, would someone be able to move hemalugry spikes without having to worry about spikes. They would be able to "bond" that piece of someone's soul to another's soul. This means that you could use a spike to tear off someone's soul and then use connection to perfectly meld it with another's soul. This could be a work around to Harmony controlling someone with too many spikes. I have not finished warbreaker (I am about 1/7 the way through it. Liking it so far, but I want some action). But with the small knowledge I have about breaths, I wonder if you could do something similar with breaths were you permanently bond breaths to someone. This would make it impossible for people to give breaths and would nerf a lot of the breath users because they couldn't put their breath into other things. It would be permanently stuck to them.
Morningtide she/her Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Oooh I like that theory, respectably pertaining to Breaths. I won't soul anything for you, bit I think that's possible!

I doubt it somewhat, given that (spoilers regarding the shard on Nalthis) Spoiler breaths stem from Endowment's investiture (hence some of their properties, especially the ability to transfer them at will). That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if an "unchained" bondsmith could manipulate connection so that the breaths become associated with someone else (e.g., the bondsmith could retrieve the breaths from an object awakened by someone else). 1
