Hey everyone, call me Iggy. Long time bookworm recently introduced to the Cosmere through Mistborn (including Wax and Wayne books), eager to get some gift cards for my 29th birthday to add some more to my collection. I'm a big fan of the physics and drawback based magic of the Metalborn arts and love to theorize different interactions of twinborns and compounding.

My question for you all is this! Which of the cosmere series should I start with once I've finished the wax and wayne books I just got? Should I go right for the ars arcanum (sp?) or wait until I get some more cosmere lore under my belt?

Wait a while for ars arcanum but after you finish wax and wayne I would personally go strait to the stormlight archives

Welcome to the Shard @IggyTorlan !!

I agree with @The roamer , but I also think that you would enjoy "Mistborn Secret History" at this point, and that's in Arcanum Unbounded; it's also available by itself as an e-book (I think), so you might go that route.

Another strategy would be to read the standalones Elantris and/or Warbreaker, and get to know some of those characters before you head on over to Roshar for Stormlight Archives (SA). (Hope that's not too much of a spoiler!)

And once you start SA, IMO you should be sure to read Edgedancer in between books 2 and 3, and Dawnshard in between books 3 and 4 - those 2 novellas are awesome! and provide some important story points.

Happy reading! :D

I actually agree with the strategy that @Iarwainiel brings up - I would read Elantris and Warbreaker.  They're standalone books, and I think you'll appreciate them more before you read SA than you will after.  They're older works, so maybe not as well-written.  They're good, but once you read SA, it may be harder to get through them.

Welcome to the Shard! Who's your least favorite character? As it has been said, I suggest you read Elantris or Warbreaker before Stormlight Archive.
