stormlore Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 In a recent livestream, Brandon mentioned deadeyes did not happen before the recreance and there is some special reason for this happening, and it was similar to something we have seen elsewhere in the cosmere. My mind immediately considered how the seons behaved when Shaod occurred to their bonded human after the Raod. They essentially became deadeyes. What was the commonality? Both honor and devotion were killed and splintered. Very interesting!
Watchdog84 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Keep in mind that Devotion being splintered and what happened with the Seons wasn't connected. As far as I know anyway. It was because AonDor broke in the earthquake changing the landscape. Thousand of years in-between those events. The current thoughts are some sort of connection to Ba-Ado-Mishram or possibly because the shattering of the plains in some way. Though maybe lack of a solid Shard leaves a large crack in their sprit web that then breaks further when another part of their Connection is destroyed.

mathiau he/him Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 They said multiple times during RoW that the binding BAM had horrible effects on the spiritual realm, I'm pretty sure deadeyes are just one of them. Also, the raod happened centuries after the splintering of Dominion and Devotion, what triggered it was was a change in the landscape big enough to change how people see the land's form (-> a big change in the cognitive real, which since we're on Sel could have similar effect as a change in a spiritual realm would have in other worlds) Side thought, another place were we've seen people can "die wrong" was just confirmed to have a butchered spiritual realm (Threnody)
