Silver Whisper Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 I've been getting more into fashion and costume design lately, and one of the things on my list of what I'd love to make is a havah. Now this got me thinking-where do the people on Roshar get their fabric from? I'm planning on reading through the Stormlight Archive again quite soon and pulling together whatever I can find, but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I thought of this because generally, cloth and fabric are made from plants or some sort of wool. There isn't really any mention of plants that can be used to create cloth being grown, just grains, and obviously there aren't any sheep. (Even if there is a similar animal somewhere like Shinovar, that doesn't help supply the rest of the planet, including the Parshendi, with wool.) The only specific reference I can remember off the top of my head at the moment is a mention of a cotton robe I believe somewhere around page 210 of Rhythm of War, but I could be wildly off. (Also-I apologize if this was formatted incorrectly, I practically never post. Do forgive me.)
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Well, breachtrees apparently make a warm, scratchy cotton used for coats. And I think that the havahs are at one point mentioned to be seasilk? 1
Honorless he/him Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 https://coppermind.net/wiki/Seasilk And Rosharans very well might make thread out of plant fibres (not all of them are rocky) as well as leather. 1
