Karger he/him Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 I think this is the best place to put this. I had perhaps the weirdest of all possible thoughts when reading RoW. Going into this book I asked myself what the greatest change to the cosmere would be. I wondered about all the things that could happen and I was shocked, dismayed, betrayed and rewarded just like everyone else. However when I ask myself to think on what the most important thing that happened in the entire book was? I find myself gravitating to an odd answer. It happened in chapter 15 page 212 of the book, a chapter we have known for weeks. Rlain showed the Alethi singer agricultural methods. Yes Navani figured out how to convert investiture leading to a major revolution in how the entire cosmere works with implications that could kill gods. Yes Jasnah will be remembered as one of the greatest monarchs in Alethi and probably rosharan history. Yes Rayse was killed, Taravangian ascended, Kaladin swore the fourth ideal, the Listeners are reestablished, and the tower restored. Yes this WILL be the final desolation. In the grant scheme of human history this may matter a lot less then there being slightly more food grown by slightly fewer people in a slightly smaller area. Journey before Pancakes(or after I am not picky). EDIT because I am in a bit of a rush at the moment and can't check how to tag this feel free to either support or refute my views. Thanks for reading. 3
ALAKA Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 (edited) More efficient farming is what's needed to avoid Malthusian collapse - but there are other ways to make.farming more efficient. But it's still a very good point - don't overlook the small stuff - big stuff is made of lots of small stuff. Edited November 19, 2020 by ALAKA
