+Child of Hodor Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) How many battles has Szeth freaked out in an unproductive way now? Ishar mentioning his father makes him fall to pieces for most of the battle leaving 5 Windrunners to try to deal with and lose handily. He did block one strike with Nightblood eventually, I’ll give him that. He freaked out and ran away from Kaladin in WoR. In the second Kaladin fight he allowed himself to be killed. He refused to go into The Thrill to give the King’s Drop to Dalinar, who he just swore an oath to follow and made Lift do it instead. He AGAIN disobeyed Dalinar, who he swore an Oath to follow when he killed Taravangian. Which worked out in the short term, but Taravangian seems like he will be a more dangerous vessel than the badly wounded Rayse was. Edited November 18, 2020 by Child of Hodor
+Aletus he/him Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 IMO he's not any different than the peer support group made up of the other members of the DSM-5 - I mean Radiants. They all have mental health issues, even Lift (loved her tidbit of back story) Szeth really is no different, he's just cast in a different light because of what he did under The Diagram, and because of Nightblood. But his entire belief system was ripped apart, he died, was brought back, is constantly ostracized, and while he's working on putting things in order in his head, completely alone, he learns his dad died. Boy needs a hug. Not to mention his only real friend is the definition of a psychopath, in the form of a talking sword.
