"There is no way anyone either than us knows where this place is. It's... in an interesting place."

"Okay, but what about the people who live there?"

"Equally interesting. They aren't huge fans of amal... but then again, they aren't huge fans of anybody."

"So as neutral as we're going to get?"

"Oh no, they're all pretty hecking evil. Very likely to try and kill us on sight. Key word there, though, is try."

"Then why are we going there? M - Vivace's cave was perfectly fine!"

"Because we're the only ones who know how to get in."

"What about the people who live there and will ostensibly try to kill us? Don't they know how to get in?"

"People change. Whatever, we can go to your town full of people who will try to kill us on sight. But I'll be the first to say 'I told you so' when we're running rapidly away from them."

"They won't kill us, though. They can't."

"Why can't they?"

"See, they're really bad at problem-solving skills, so when a bunch of monsters attacked their village one day, they had no idea what to do. Insert Pior and I. We punch the monsters really hard in the face and call it a day. Now they're in our debt, and can't lay a finger on us until it's repaid... which'll take awhile, seeing as how tiny their economy is." Aerith stretched. "Anyways, the reason why the don't like people is because they often fall into their debt, which is why they try to kill anyone who enters their town. It's quite the paradox, really. They don't want to be in people's debt, so they try to kill these people, but when they do fall into their debt, they can't kill those people. The entire reason why they want to kill people is so that they won't have to not be able to kill people." He scratched his head. "Does that make any sense?"

"Um, kind of? Maybe? So you and Pior will be safe. What about Val and me?"

"We'll tell them they'll have paid off part of their debt if they extend our protection to you two. On the one hand, they'll be annoyed that they can't kill you. On the other hand, they'll be satisfied knowing that they can kill us sooner."

"They send us running. Not that they could catch us, we are both Amal, but it'll still happen."

En ducked, twisting around to face Concerto.

Then, she lunged, launching herself at his throat.

Concerto ducked in turn, throwing his claws up to rake along Kade's belly.
