"I can help pay," Freya offers.  "I don't have chrysts," she stumbles over the word, "But I have spheres, Rosharan currency."  It's probably a bad idea to part with any of her Stormlight, but it would run out eventually anyway.

Whirling around he walked a few steps away, breathing heavily, trying to calm himself down. "I am sorry." he added after a while. "I would greatly appreciate it, if you could keep your eyes open I know it's not a lot to start with."

"As long as it's valuable, I do not care what planet it's from. Now, about your case..." He falls into deep thought for a moment, before standing He picks up a nearby sheet of paper and a pen, and writes down a summary of the little info they have, as well as some theories for Magnolia to see. He then spins back around to Mike and Freya and says, "While your information is very limited, I have... experience with people who have completely disappeared. I need you to try to remember more about this man. Anything will help. In the meantime however, I am going to go find some more information. I think I have just the place. Follow, please." He then walks out the door and out into the street.

As they go down the street, they run into Magnolia, panting. "Sorry--oh! Calarian! Customers! Hello." She attempts to quickly compose herself, taming her unkempt hair. "What is the case? And, Calarian, where are you taking them? Never mind, just tell me as we go. She falls into step beside them as they explain the dilemma.

"Ah, Magnolia. Excellent. We've been tasked with finding a man." He explains the details of the case, what he's done, and a theory. He leans in and whispers so their customers can't hear, and says "I suspect Mike there's been tortured in some way. The way he describes this man and his amnesia- it just seems suspicious. I haven't asked him about it yet, however. Oh, almost forgot- how much are we charging?"

Magnolia nods slowly, pondering the case. "A possibility, for certain. As well as other forms of mental illnesses." She finally takes in his last sentence, speaking louder so that Mike and Freya can hear.. "Oh, we charge after the case is closed. If we can't solve it, they shouldn't have to pay. We also charge based on the case, the customer... many different factors. So, the price isn't decided until after we solve the case."

"Greetings, Brightness Magnolia."  Freya grimaces.  It's near impossible for her to stop initially greeting people with the titles she had grown up with.  She really should try to stop that.

Magnolia gives Freya a confused look paired with a curt nod.

Cal raises an eyebrow. "We should definitely still charge, even at after a failed case. If we fail, that could be a couple weeks down the drain without any coin to show for it. Especially if we turned down other cases that could of earned us money. It would be lowered, of course."

"We were unable to do what they would have paid us to do. I agree that if it took away time from other cases that we would want to be paid, but..." She glances around. "Business isn't exactly booming, is it? If we start getting multiple cases at once, I'll charge even for failed cases. For now, though...being able to do something is payment enough. We'll get paid plenty, I promise."

"Alright then. It is your call, after all. Do you have any contacts or informants in the city?  I need some to help with cases."

"Well, that depends. How much are you willing to trust someone who has to be paid in order to be a contact or informant?"

Quote

Really, though, there's no one that I know of who would be willing to be a contact/informant. I might be able to create a new character or use another character of mine, but as of right now...

I would just make an NPC or two to act as an informant.

"Depends on how much we're paying them."

"Not much. Most of them are pretty desperate."

Oh, I visited Trader's heaven to get some info on our man and they said they'll find them within a day, but it's going to be the wrong person.

"There's an old abandoned building at the end of the street. Go in there and leave a handkerchief. The informants will see it and know to come to the agency."

Magnolia looks mildly concerned, but says nothing. I'll have to keep an eye on that one...

Seeing the look on Magnolia's face, he says "I assure you, madam, that I was not entirely willing when this thing was installed into me..." He shivers a little. "But, I might as well use it than let it go to waste, don't you think?"

"Certainly." Magnolia was still somewhat worried, but her fears were mostly assuaged.

He nods approvingly.
Once they get to the Agency itself, Calarian strolls into the backroom.

Should we make a private PM or something? We might be too small to need one, but I don't know.

Uh, yeah, maybe? Also, the other employee has been on the shard a bit lately, so I'll tag him. Another thing: Why the italics?

@Elend Venture

Magnolia sits at her desk, pulling a notebook from a drawer and jotting down some ideas.

Oh, the italics are a habit I have from other RPs. I'll fix it.
