So....I know we have a mistborn RPG all ready, and I figure this is bound to come up at some point, but who else thinks we need some kind of Way of kings/Stormlight archives RPG action going on? I mean, seriously, the world is so rich and well planned it just begs for it. Who else agrees?

However, there is still quite a bit we don't know, so I'm not sure how possible it is at this point, and/or quite a bit we'd have to guess at the "rules" for.

I was wondering about this too, but I figure we need to wait until we have a few more books before moving into that territory.  The reason that a Mistborn RPG can work like this is that the books are done.  There's no magic revelations we need to worry about for a while so we don't need to worry about our theories getting Jossed. (look it up on TV Tropes if you don't get it)

I had a similar problem on a Ben 10 RPG I was in a few years ago, we made a lot of assumptions about how the Omnitrix device operated and most of them have been contradicted by the show.

I agree. I'd totally be up for getting one started once more of the books come out, but as this is a brand-new series, there would just be too much guesswork involved. It's great to see some interest, though! This is definitely something we should have in the future.

Yeah, i know we're gonna need more info to really start one up, however, like i mentioned previously, the material just BEGS for it. The world has so much to it, that it would be great. There would be so many options and all that.

Oh, absolutely. And the best part is, that by the time we actually get more information on the world and are feasibly able to start this thing, the community will have grown, and there's a strong chance the RP can really hit the ground running once we do launch it.

Once the Warbreaker sequel hits that would seem like a good thing to run with.  Brandon just has a knack for crafting RPable worlds, it's so great.

Indeed! I actually thought of a Warbreaker RP back when the book first came out (in physical, purchasable format, that is ) but I think waiting for a sequel would be a wise idea. And you're right, he really does. The worlds are just so unique and captivating, and his magic systems just naturally lend themselves to RPing.

I saw that, Zaphira. I just don't know if we have enough information to make a quality RP, as has been said earlier in the topic. The Mistborn RP works well because we have plenty of information to make an interesting story that really pushes the envelope of Scadrial.

Stormlight Archive would definitely make an awesome RP in a few books. Right now we barely know enough of the magic to do really cool stuff. Since you guys are the Stormlight Archive fansite, I encourage you to try it But it would be very difficult.

I'm currently putting a bit of work into a rough conversion for the crafty games Mistborn Adventure game.

I'm sure a bunch of my stuff will be invalidated by the next book, but

eh, making it keeps me entertained.

My hope is that the Mistborn RPG is made compatible. I mean, a cosmere wide system could be so great... I see a project in the making. At minimum getting Warbreaker adapted shouldn't be too hard. Elantris might take a little more work.

I think elantris would be extremely tough to be a workable rpg as its always better to have two or more classes of people and, until the average humans got used to the elantrians, then everything would be easier, but that would be a stretch to assume that they do considering that they had a grudge against the elantrians and vice versa. There would probably also have to be a system by which random characters would be atruck by the shaod.

As far as I can tell it is incredibly uncommon to become an elantrien. It would probobly be something like advancement points in the mistborn RPG. Mandy something akin to snapping.

I too hope that someday we'll have a Cosmere-wide RPG. Perhaps one released closer to the Cosmere's conclusion (in... what, thirty, forty, fifty years?) could also act as a huge Cosmere encyclopedia.

 

Just because of the sheer amount of time involved in the Cosmere, I imagine we're probably going to get multiple iterations or editions of any given particular system, fan-made or official, before we get closer to it all coming together. That's an interesting thought.

I have an Idea for an RP and it will involve Roshar and it will be a little different than other RPs. I plan on doing this soon and I know it will be a lot of fun.
