Wintersu Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I’ve been doing some thinking recently, and I have a pretty wild theory about the Sibling. Here goes: 1: There are 9 Unmade, and there is an interesting tidbit we get from Sja Anat about their back story. Specifically, she was ‘First Made, then Unmade’... 2: I am assuming that Odium DID NOT make Sja Anat and the others, but was involved in their corruption or Unmaking 3: We know via WOB that the Unmade kinda sorta line up with the Knight Orders, but are definitely missing Bondsmiths. It’s a bit of a leap, but, what if the Sibling is not the true sibling of the Stormfather and the Nightwatcher? What if the Sibling is instead the only remaining uncorrupted ‘Made’? For this to work, the Unmade would have to have been made by Andonalsium, and then corrupted by Odium It would also explain why the Sibling began withdrawing, as a response to seeing the Knights bind their siblings. I can’t prove it, but I like it a lot. It explains both why there are 9 Unmade (a very weird number on Roshar) and why the Voidbringers don’t have Bondsmiths 2

They have been fighting against them as a Bondsmith spren for a long, long time. I think there was something else going on, but Melishi's imprisonment of Ba-Ado-Mishram probably was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused the Sibling to hibernate Edited November 8, 2019 by Honorless 2

Personally I think both the Sibling and the Unmade are originally from Ashyn - maybe not siblings, but definitely extended family 2 hours ago, Wintersu said: I can’t prove it, but I like it a lot. We know that the Unmade have (with some fuzziness) corresponding Knight Radiant Orders (except for Bondsmiths), but that doesn't mean there are no Voidbinding Bondsmiths - the Unmade themselves can count as Odium's godspren 2 hours ago, Honorless said: I don't know about the Sibling withdrawing in response to the Unmade's imprisonments though. The Urithiru archive has several gemstones that talk about their plan as if it had not been executed and they left because the sibling withdrew according to others. "My research into the cognitive reflections of the spren at the tower has been deeply illustrative. Some thought that the Sibling had withdrawn from men by intent- but I find counter to that theory." "The wilting of plants and the general cooling of the air is disagreeable, yes, but some of the tower's functions remain in place. The increased pressure, for example, persists." "Something is happening to the Sibling. I agree this is true, but the division among the Knights Radiant is not to blame. Our perceived worthiness is a separate issue." "A coalition has been formed among scholar Radiants. Our goal is to deny the enemy their supply of Voidlight; this will prevent their continuing transformations, and give us an edge in combat." "Our revelation is fueled by the theory that the Unmade can perhaps be captured like ordinary spren. It would require a special prison. And Melishi." "Ba-Ado-Mishram has somehow Connected with the parsh people, as Odium once did. She provides Voidlight and facilitates forms of power. Our strike team is going to imprison her."

"Ba-Ado-Mishram has somehow Connected with the parsh people, as Odium once did. She provides Voidlight and facilitates forms of power. Our strike team is going to imprison her." I always took it to mean during: "Good night, dear Urithiru. Good night, sweet Sibling. Good night, Radiants." A Words of Radiance epigraph mentions that "one of their Order [Bondsmith] was in continual accompaniment of Urithiru", which is where the Sibling fueling Urithiru theory comes from. We also know that the Nightwatcher's Valley cannot be affected by the Unmade, same was once true of Urithiru, and what could compare with a godspren? another godspren. The ancient Radiants began to leave because the Sibling was withdrawing (into the Cognitive?) and then Melishi did what he did to end the Final Desolation, imprisoning Ba-Ado-Mishram and creating the Parshmen, hurting the Sibling enough that they withdrew completely Quote “Yes, you’ve said. The Nightwatcher is like you. Are there others, though? Spren like you, or the Nightwatcher? Spren that are shadows of gods?”There is … a third sibling. They are not with us.“In hiding?”No. Slumbering.“Tell me more.”No.“But—”No! Leave them alone. You hurt them enough. Edited November 9, 2019 by Honorless 2
Guest Edonidd Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I've always thought that they call the Sibling, Sibling instead of brother or sister because it lines up more with the Listeners than with humans. Therefore it is not limited to 2 genders. We know that is a thing with some spren. And while others seemed to think it was the recreance and radiants breaking their bonds that "hurt them enough." I assumed it was whatever was done to the parsh that actually hurt The Sibling, and also that is my feeling that probably is what caused the recreance as well. It never sat right with me that all the Radiants gave up their bonds just because humans stole thiat world from Listeners. But tearing their very soul/identity out and locking them into dull form? That might be enough.
