+Child of Hodor Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Quote Punzi (paraphrased) Have we seen a Dawnshard in any Cosmere book? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes and no. *hands RAFO card* DragonCon 2019 (Aug. 30, 2019) "Yes" because we've seen a version of them and "No" because they've been altered from their original form. My wild guess is Unmade. There were 10 Dawnshards and 9 became Unmade. The one that is different from all the rest is the one Odium hasn't altered. Quote Curtis Could you write something about Dawnshards that we don't/won't know? Brandon One Dawnshard is different from all the rest. Words of Radiance release party (March 3, 2014) Here is a link to the rest of the Dawnshard tagged wobs. https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?tags=dawnshards 3
Halyo_Alex he/him Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 So, wait... Does this mean that if someone bonded an Unmade, they would be able to have them manifest as a Dawnshard in the physical realm? Or did that get broken by Odium's influence?

But Honor says we don't have the Dawnshards anymore(he would have clued us in on the one we still do have if he could). Also they are supposed to bond any kind of spren(tat does not make sense if they are spren themselves).
ZenBossanova Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 I have thought about this. My current head canon is that Cultivation disassembled the Dawnshards in the creation of the Aimians. Now it still needs to explain why she would do that, perhaps she just saw what was inevitable, or the Aimians hadn't sufficiently matured, for the Dawnshards to be used successfully. 1
