Auha
So I just saw a trailer of a new show called "The Boys" on Amazon Prime Video. Is it me or does that show remind me of this book series? Differences, but similar.
+Invocation
Kind of but also not really. I can see the angle both ways. Either way, I'm gonna give the show a shot.
Scion of the Mists
I also saw tons of parallels from the previews. A world where superheros exist, but are almost all bad/evil. A group of non-superpowered individuals who's mission is to track down and kill the really bad ones. Probably doesn't bode well for Reckoners making it in as a TV show
BrightnessSamantha she/her
I just started the first episode and have already spotted the wannabe David and Prof. It's different but still very similar and definitely geared toward an older audience. Came on here specifically looking for this topic! Edited to add: I just finished the first episode and I'm definitely getting Reckoners vibes but not set in a dystopian world. One of my first thoughts was this good be a rated R alternate reality of Megan's with Megan and an Abraham/Cody mix. It's different enough that I don't feel like Brando got ripped off. I like it and will definitely keep watching. Edited July 28, 2019 by BrightnessSamantha
Horizonked
Except the Boys comic came out before the Reckoners. I'm actually wondering if Sanderson didn't borrow from The Boys.

When I was looking stuff up on the show last night I did see it was based on a comic which I didn't know.
Comatose he/him
The comic definitely came first, though I doubt Brandon was aware of it (it is possible though). I am also worried about what this means for the Reckoners series. The concept is very similar, so it's possible "The Boys" will make Fox second guess putting more time into the Reckoners. It's really too bad the Boys came out first :(.

If it flops it might hurt The Reckoners.
solarmacharius
The Boys is awesome. I would highly recommend — in the words of Billy Butcher, it's "Diabolical." It's also super popular, so it probably does bode well for similar things like The Reckoning.
Scion of the Mists
I liked it a lot, and it's getting pretty good reviews, so we'll see. The one thing I did not like was the finale, which ended on a massive reveal/cliffhanger, while tying up almost no plot threads.
