The Wanderer Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 we all know that what Syl did was, at the time, what the spren considered to be the worst thing possible. However, with Lopen and Rua, along Teft, Drehy and Skar, we see that they have begun the process of lessening the divide between humans and Honourspren. This is, at first glance, perfect. More spren transitioning from the Cognitive to Physical realm equals more Windrunners, which makes protecting people much easier for Bridge 4 and Kaladin. But Syl? She is still ostracised from the others, her friends and (sort of) family. She has been drummed out of Lasting Integrity, the honourspren capital. It's ironic that the other spren can renege on their ideas, the oaths they swore to stay away from humans, while at the same time ignoring the bravest of all of them for doing exactly the same thing: the right thing, which is what honourspren focus on in the first place! I just want to see Syl be accepted back into their ranks, or at the very least acknowledge her presence. Hopefully Brandon develops spren relationships in Stormlight 4. Maybe Syl and Rua can be best friends or something. 2
Karger he/him Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 A couple things first 33 minutes ago, The Wanderer said: what the spren considered to be the worst thing possible Not exactly. They consider her actions dangerous because they assume that humans cannot be trusted with power or lives but they also know that they might not have any other choice because Odium has returned. 34 minutes ago, The Wanderer said: It's ironic that the other spren can renege on their ideas, the oaths they swore to stay away from humans Secondly, no they can't. Spren cannot break promises. They may have agreed that bonding humans was dangerous but if they are desperate enough they could say that they had no choice. 36 minutes ago, The Wanderer said: She has been drummed out of Lasting Integrity, the honourspren capital. Syl has officially been forgiven at least she seems to think so. What with the Stormfather now having a bond I seriously doubt that any spren is going to argue against her actions. Sylis not currently banished but it does not surprise me that Honorspren can be guilty of arrogance. I doubt that they appreciated being proven so thoroughly wrong and Syl seems like the type who would rub it in(just a little). Given time I expect she will be forgiven just like humans will generally forgive the one who is guilty of being right too often. 1
