Shae looked around, blinking as he tried to reconcile this place with what he'd experienced from them so far. "I... Thank you... can I decorate it if I have certain preferences...?"

“Most likely. You’ll need to check with someone for each change, however.” LinBli smiled apologetically.

He nodded. "That is perfectly fine... it's honestly more than I was expecting. What is my job for now? I don't know what forging's you need quite yet, and until I know the rest of my job I can't do that part..."

“Do you remember what we told you before?”

He hesitated. "You've told me a number of things... what are you referring to?" His mind flashed to Dan, his apparent betrayal. It stung again, and he forced it down, the room suddenly seeming to lose whatever warmth he'd originally felt from it.

LinBli smiled slightly. “About the job we wish you to perform.”

He bit his lip. Not much... I remember it involved my forgings and spiritwebs..." He trailed off, hoping Linbli would explain. It had been a few months of intense studying for him, after all...

“For now, we just want you to create a soulstamp to give a spike a certain charge.” LinBli’s voice stayed soothing.

He nodded. "Alright... I'll... I'll need the spike, and a way to carve the metal, but... that aside, I think I might be able to do it. It's highly theoretical and... I'm not sure I'd it's ever been done before. I might have to try a few times."

“That’s fine,” LinBli said. “The spike is there on the desk.” He nodded to Shae. “Do you need anything?”

Posted

He looked, thinking as he stepped over closer.  "Any nausea medicine you can get me... once I start on the details, I... I might need some." He grimaced, touching the spike uneasily. This had been used to rip a piece of a person's soul off of who they were... by stabbing them. "This didn't kill anyone... did it?" He looked around, noticing a few things he'd need. "I also am going to need some kind of blood based paint. It'll help keep the spike from hemalugic decay..."

Posted

“That spike has not been used,” LinBli reassured him. “There is one with the charge we want in a cupboard, there. It’s already protected from decay.” He dipped his head and added, “I’ll be sure to get you the medication.” Then he stepped out the door and was gone.

The charged spike is in a jar of animal blood.

He nodded, relaxing a bit. This... he could do this. He pulled out the spike, carefully checking the blood-covered one and then putting it away. They were most likely the same metal, and probably came from the same area of storage, and that would make it somewhat easy... Still stupidly difficult, but... easier. He started his work, hunting down paper and using his pencils to start sketching out possible stamps he could use. He left his notebooks on a separate desk, wary of them.

Hello all! Considering the small amount of RPers in the plot, how inactive it is, and how late in the Era we are, Po and I are shutting down Mutare Omnes. It doesn’t look like it’s taking off and Po is really busy. I am retconning Deteca’s involvement, and the group will be leaving directly after the following encounter with Shae.

LinBli knocked on Shae’s door.

Shae jumped, immediately grabbing his backpack full of journals and his glasses- which he'd to get from his captors after they discovered the problems he had with his vision. It was an honest relief to be able to see more than five feet in front of himself. He opened the door, forcing his heart not to race with panic and trying to look calm. He managed wary. This place... it was like some sort of hell... "U-um... y-yes? sir?"

You don’t need to tag me, I’ll see it. ^_^

“Thank you for your service to us,” LinBli said calmly. “We will be releasing you now, and it would be best if you and your husband never mentioned that this happened to anyone.”

He blinked, staring at the man. "I... I can go home?" He gripped his backpack strap, looking past the man. "Where's the exit? I can ask people in the alleys for directions, but if I'm being allowed to leave then I want to go home as soon as possible so I can forget that this... science... ever existed." He'd almost said abomination. He'd never thought he'd take part in the damaging of the souls of living things. He wanted to put this behind himself. He'd never hated anything so much... and he hadn't ever felt so empty and numb since he'd started hating it. It was like that hatred fed everything to some kind of ravenous beast in his soul... he wanted to go home and start feeling things again.

LinBli nodded wordlessly and showed him the way out, then left him to it.

He left, refusing to leave any of his journals behind. He left everything else behind, desperate to get home. At least he'd put on his glasses... then he made his way home. Finally...
