Created based on discussion on other thread. Does Shallan have her plate yet, and has she had it at any points in the past?

I would say no as the amount of damage that an untrained plate wielder would do to the inside of a family apartment would be to hard to cover up.  Bull in a china shop is underselling it.

Between her reaction to Adolin asking her about Plate...

He grinned. “You said that Jasnah was a Radiant too. Women, gaining Shardblades. It’s weird, but it’s not like we can ignore it. What about Plate? Do you have that hidden somewhere too?”
“Not that I know of,” she said. Her heart was beating quickly, her skin growing cold, her muscles tense. She fought against the sensation. “I don’t know where Plate comes from.”

The fact that Radiant's plate in the end sequence was of the correct color glow, which she should never have seen...

And her oath level... (this WoB places her at Fourth)

How many oaths can a Radiant swear?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

There is an upper-limit/threshold to the number of oaths a Radiant may make. By the end of WoR, Shallan was a step higher than Kaladin.

He said that at one point Shallan may have said all the oaths for her order (or may have been capable of saying all of the oaths by the end of the book) but has since regressed due to "memory loss/repression."

Yeah, I fully believe she's capable of Plate, and unable to do so because of her personal issues.

I would guess that some part of Shallan sees Plate and Blade as a very masculine thing, and tries to ignore her ability to summon it like a proper lady. She is willing to summon her blade, but only when under extreme circumstances or when in a different personality. Remember how she had to create Radiant? On Roshar, female shardbearers are very uncommon. Fighting is seen as a males-only activity. If this was ingrained deep enough into her that she had to make another person to train with her blade (not fight, just train), imagine how bad it would be if she tried to summon her plate. Part of how she is leveling up in her oaths, especially by the end of Oathbringer, is by accepting her different personalities as part of herself (Shallan). Forcing her into her plate would likely break her down and take her backward progress-wise.

@BookishOcelot

I don't believe the gender roles have anything to do with her issues.

She created Radiant specifically because the blade was what she used to kill her mother, not because it was "masculine."

These could all be reactions that indicate that she knows what he is going to suggest(training with her blade) and we know why she is afraid of that.
