Proof, you say? Evidence? Reason?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_noodle:

Quote

Instant noodles were invented by Taiwanese-Japanese inventor Momofuku Ando in Japan. It was first marketed on 25 August 1958 by Ando's company, Nissin, under the brand name Chikin Ramen. ... According to a Japanese poll in the year 2000, "The Japanese believe that their best invention of the twentieth century was instant noodles."

So, as of "now" in the Cosmere, Taldain has achieved 1950s-level technology :P while Scadrial is still in Wild-West time-territory. Which means that there is a chance that they will gain computers and later FTL, ahead of Scadrial's schedule (barring disasters on this unidentified world).

...Has he ever had instant noodles?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

Yeah, he's had instant noodles before. They have them on Taldain, yeah.

Well Taldain had shotguns and the like in White Sand, and that was at least a thousand years before the events of Stormlight Archive, so I'd expect them to have lots of cool inventions by now :D

Questioner [PENDING REVIEW]

If you were going to live in one of your worlds, which one would it be?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

Good question, I would live on Scadrial because they are the closest to the Internet and instant noodles.

WHAT IS THIS CONTRADICTION!?  HOW CAN THIS BE??

You need to get your instant noodles timeline straightened out, Brandon.

The quantum timeline for instant noodles... resembles a packet of instant noodles ;)

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big bowl of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey noodles.

There is no contradiction, Taldain clearly doesn't have the internet, just the noodles.

Since Brandon requires both on his planet of residence, he chooses Scadrial. While it currently has neither, it is the closest to having both.

BLASPHEMY!

For real, though, it's just semantics.  It could be interpreted either way.  Maybe Brandon messed up the instant noodles timeline, or maybe he didn't and he meant it the way you thought he did.  This is why English is such a dumb language.  Though other languages have the same problem, so... math all the way?

Still, given the similarities between instant noodles and the Internets ("a series of tubes"), if Taldain has the one (and radios!) how far can they be from the other?

I'm sorry, but are you suggesting that instant noodles and the internet would be down the same Civ tech tree? Also, are you just downright saying the internet is noodles?

I'm at least saying that the Swimming Ramen Creature is the true God, not the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I'm willing to debate the Levitating Tortellini Entity, too.

I am concerned now.
