What?  I was kind of looking forward to Galvris dealing with the shade...  maybe then next day? (In the thread)

Galvris went to sleep, but Aeodin, needing none, went on watch.

I love how there was such a great build up to the rage and devestation of his shade being roused, just to be replaced by "He went to sleep".

As everyone prepared for sleep, Ishek considered doing the same. Then he noticed the Elantrian, sitting upright and alert, as if on watch. Tapping his bronze mind, Ishek sat himself beside the lean elantrian.

"Your master, did you choose to be in his service?"

Aeodin smiled, "Ha, no he ambushed me in Oasis City.  Me and my friend both.  But once I saw that his goals were worthy, I decided it might not be such a bad thing to be in his service.  After a few months, he gave us a choice.  We both chose to stay.  He's leaving ya know.  Tomorrow, but he'll be leaving me here to help.  Something about justice and the guilds.  He's already sent Valdwen on a mission, he just came here to see what it was all about, and see if it was worthy of my attention.  It is, so he's leaving me to help here.  He might call me back, if the war becomes too rough, but for now..." He trailed off.

"I am" Ishek replied quietly. "Is he a feruchemist also?" A hint of eagerness entering his voice.

"Yes he is.  Only a twinborn though.  He also has the power of feruchemical zinc through hemalurgy."

Sorry for the bit of a delay on my end. I was appreciating the relationship development going on between Ishek and Aeodin.

Laonin awoke the next morning, feeling refreshed. He had slept quite well after the adventuresome day he had had yesterday. He got out of bed and got himself dressed in some practical yet decent looking clothes, a task he had never thought he could miss. Looking in the mirror, he trimmed his beard carefully, making sure to maintain a neat appearance. He then walked downstairs to check on his guests.

Looking into the room, it seemed as though a couple of them were still sleeping, but a few were awake. "Good morning! I hope everyone slept well? Sorry if it was a bit uncomfortable for ya. I'll get some coffee going." Laonin then went into what served as his kitchen and prepared coffee for the group. While he waited on that he pulled a slab of meat out of the cooler he had installed. He began cutting slices off of the smoked roast, and when he had a good quantity he put it back away. Wiping off his knife he grabbed a loaf of bread and cut several slices of that as well. He set the meat and the bread on a platter, along with the coffee after it was finished, and walked into the other room.

Setting the platter down, very much like he had last night, he went and grabbed mugs for everyone. He poured himself a cup of coffee, and then made himself a sandwich. He sat down at the table and begin eating his breakfast. "Again, I know it isn't much, but I wasn't quite prepared for such an influx of people here. I mostly just keep simple foods on hand for myself, something enjoyable but easy to make. Help yourselves, there's plenty more if this isn't enough." After saying this, Laonin finished the sandwich he had been eating, then made himself another one. "We have a long day ahead of us, and it's best not to go on an empty stomach. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day."

Finishing with his meal, Laonin stood up, wiped his hands on his pants, and then surveyed the map and notes that had been gone over last night. Grabbing a sheet of paper he began writing a list. "Alright, Alask and Nekorb, this is a list of supplies we may need. Some metals, building materials, household necessities, and more food. Try and see what you can arrange for a regular supply of these, and stay out of trouble. Aeodin, and Lord Moerevron, when you left last night did you begin work on your buildings? If so, how much longer do you require to finish on them? I have a couple more places picked out you could begin on next. Ishek, feel free to make any recommendations you can think of on how I could make better use of you. If you wish to simply accompany me as we said yesterday, I would appreciate the company, but I wouldn't want to put your talents to waste either."

Nekorb made himself a sandwich and started eating it. He pulled the box out of his pocket and started playing with the dials again.

The dark blob could feel something coming. Something big.

Galvris walked in briskly, and addressed Laonin, "We both finished our respective projects.  The powerful investiture made the work go quickly, though we were both up at least half the night.  I regret to inform you that I'll be leaving today.  The war between the ghostbloods has become so that I cannot ignore.  And beyond that, the fourth wall has been shattered, and the alleyverse will soon be rocked by a war that will tear this land apart.  You're services are indeed important, especially now that the city is about to be devastated.  I will leave Aeodin to help you all, but the time may come when I will need him.  Farewell to you all, and I hope that harm befalls none of you."  With that, he channeled and made a kind of shimmering in the air.  A portal to tel'aran'rhiod, the world of dreams.  Traveling through the world of dreams was slower that traveling, but you also were less likely to hurt someone.  He stepped into the portal and disappeared.

Alask woke up. He hadn’t had a nightmare for years, and was glad to see the pattern. Usually a nightmare meant his Shade had taken control of his body while he was sleeping, allowing itself to do whatever with zero resistance.

Alask shuddered, and then got up to meet the rest of the people in here. Light was beginning to trickle through the night, and the cold breeze of dawn reminded Alask of the days he’d spent travelling, looking for work. He hadn’t had the spikes then.

He took a sandwich on the platter, and then nodded in appreciation as he devoured it. It was good.

Laonin went back to the map they’d looked at last night, and Alask found himself thinking. Laonin wanted a cheap way to get materials in bulk. But was there anything cheaper than the good old-fashioned heist?

No. Alask had come to Laonin so he could make a positive impact on the Alleyverse, to get away from thievery. But... if he’d honed so many skills throughout his time being a thief, then it didn’t really make sense to waste them, right?

Alask nodded to himself. Laonin wouldn’t know. Nobody would know. Alask would be helping rebuilding the Alleyverse. He just had to make sure he didn’t get caught.

Nekorb, though. Alask would have to tell him. “Nekorb,” he whispered, tapping the man on the shoulder. “I’ve got an idea for how we can get the resources. What do you say?”

Ishek walked over to the platter, prepared two sandwiches for himself and grabbed a mug of coffee, then sat himself back down beside Aeodin. He hadn't slept very much last night, inseead tapping his bronze mind so he could talk to the Elantrian -- he'd need to refill that at some point.

In response to Laonin, he replied "I will accompany you and assist in whatever ways you may need, I have engineering treatises in my copperminds and a basic grasp of carpentry and masonry to aid you. Feruchemy is nothing of not practical"

With that, he grabbed another sandwich and stuffed it into his mouth. This one's for later he thought to himself, storing the energy in a metalmind.

Sitting back peacefully, he sipped on his coffee, content to sit in the company of Aeodin.

Alask looked to Nekorb, still whispering. “Don’t tell Laonin,” he said. “But I used to steal things, and if we want to best help Laonin rebuild, we might need to steal some more.

“I have a group, or team, maybe they can help us. It’s all for the greater good, right? Since these materials are going to go to rebuilding AlleyCity.”

Nekorb hesitated. Steal things? He couldn't remember a whole lot, but he knew that was wrong. But maybe... It was helping those who needed it, after all.

"Okay," he whispered back.

Alask suppressed a grin. “Great,” he whispered, finishing his last sandwhich.

“We should probably go now,” he said, looking outside. “We’ll have more time to discuss things with the team if we leave early.”

"Alright, well Alask and Nekorb seem to be settled. Aeodin, this is the building here that I was hoping you could work on. Ishek, if you would follow me we can head towards our assignment, I just need t grab my tool kit." Laonin said this, then stood up and headed into the other room. "I'll leave the door unlocked for you all so you can all come inside when you get back, I don't really have anything worth stealing so there's no real worry of burglary." Returning with his toolbox Laonin headed toward the door.

Walking out the door, Laonin took a breath of fresh air, then started down the road. He kept an eye out for an sign of trouble. Not that he expected any, but you never knew what might happen in the Alleycity.

Aeodin nodded as Laonin handed out tasks.  He felt as though everything they did was worthless, after all, everything would just be destroyed in the next war.  According to Galvris, the next one would be huge, with the gods of the pantheon interfering.  He had said something about the god of justice being with them...

-----------

Kaladin looked down nervously as he realized that one of his characters mentioned him.  No, he'd have to fix that...

-----------

Aeodin had the god of justice inexplicably wiped from his mind.  He transported himself to the site of this building and began repairs.
