Draginon he/him Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Pretty much this is to talk about characters from Brandon's books you don't like or even just annoyed by but still like them regardless. Wheel of Time characters need not be mentioned here. My list of dislike characters are Kelsier (controversial I know but I just don't like the guy) & Spook (he's a little annoying to me to the point of 'why do people like him') My annoying, but not disliked, characters are Wayne (his craziness gets to be too much at times, especially his attitude towards Steris), Kaladin (you can guess which trait is the annoying part), David (mostly on part because of his romance plot in Firefight), Lopen (this is more a 'if I met him in real life I'd be annoyed by him' annoyance) and Melody (I really like her but she has a smidge of annoyance at the beginning)
Modal Seoul he/him Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Zane is the worst written character in the entirety of Brandon's work. (Sorry) Never got attached to Sarene, and never bought that Hrathen actually had feelings for her. Who remembers Parlin? No one? Well, there you have it. I've never felt any sympathy for Tia whatsoever. Shallan, sadly enough, has never been very interesting for me. She has gotten better, but there's still a lot missing
+Ark1002 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Spook. Out of all the books, I hate Spook. He is whiny and obnoxious. And Dockson. I never liked him.
TruthlessofShinovar she/her Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Hmm, that's a good topic. I love most of Brandon's major characters, but I've never really been attached to Vivenna for some reason. Even Shallan, my favorite character, I didn't love back in TWOK.
+Sorana she/her Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Yeden, I disliked Yeden. He was so whiney and I simply couldn't form any connection to him at all. When he led the army to its destruction I wasn't the least surprised. Or to say it the other way round, I would have been surprised had he managed to pull it off. I don't need character to be good at what they do - but with Yeden I don't know, not my type of character. Raoden, although he worked better for me than Yeden. And Siri. Somehow I never really got into her pov.
Angsos Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 I agree about Wayne, I like him most of the time but occasionally he pushes it a bit too far. Vivenna really needs Nightblood the book to make her arc complete
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Jasnah. She is brilliantly written by Brandon, but I can’t relate to her, I don’t like her attitude and she is currently to overpowered. Whatever problem, you could solve it by calling Jasnah. Lopen can be too much at times, and funny at other times.
Draginon he/him Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 Allomancer Jak is another character I don't care for. It was fine reading his stories in the broadsheets but the story in AU showed how terrible a character he is to me. @Captains Domon I can see what you mean where Tia is concerned where it's like 'Tia stop acting like David can't handle Epic stuff' especially when she borrowed his notes and refused to give them bad to him after he asked for them. (for those listing antagonists I wouldn't count them since they're supposed to be disliked)
Ishar Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Adolin. I find him a bit too perfect of a character, that doesn't really do anything.
Embrisk he/him Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) I don't like who Kaladin becomes - just letting his hate consume him. I also think Shallan should die. I'm only up to words of radiance, but she has come to annoy me so much. Edited October 6, 2018 by Servillius

ChetLee Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I don't think I hate any cosmere characters. But Siri was kind of boring, which made Warbreaker probably my least favorite book (All though I still enjoyed Warbreaker.)

When he basically became a Radiant out of nowhere, and got a spren who makes rude gestures to the Stormfather... I just felt like Brandon should chill a little with him.

Draginon he/him Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 Finished Sixth of the Dusk a couple days ago and I don't really care for him that much. I can understand different types of characters but his type I just can't wrap my head around at all since his interactions just come off as rude and not understanding of others. That's saying something when I can understand Straff Venture better.
