StormblessedSurvivor he/him Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 I'd say either you would instinctively Lash yourself slightly more or, theoretically, even though it's difficult, you could slightly Lash your Shardblade-it might be easier because it's your spren? 1

I think it's because of connection. Spren is STRONGLY connected to Radiant, so lashing would be easy for him. It is like lashing yourself when full of investiture.
StormblessedSurvivor he/him Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 (edited) So basically even though it is a Shard, is is strongly Connected to you by the Nahel Bond, so you would probably be able to Lash it. Which would explain why in one of Dalinar’s visions, one of the Radiants can Lash himself in Shardplate but the other Radiant has to dismiss hers. Edited October 23, 2018 by StormblessedSurvivor
Braizier Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 New to the forums and theory’s. So even though I’m sure others already thought of all this I still heard it from you first. I completely missed the connection to each order having unique lesser Spren though.

The lesser spren = shardplate theory is probably the most popular but by no means a sure thing yet. Solidified stormlight is another one I have seen mentioned. Lesser spren aren’t sentient, or at least have a lower level of sentience than highspren. Radiants hear screaming when touching shardblades because the “dead” spren has or had a mind—furthermore, a mind that’s in some kind of pain. They’re able to communicate that pain. Shardplate doesn’t scream for the same reason plants don’t scream when we eat them; they’re alive, but they have no mind, no consciousnesses. Or, if they do, their sentience works completely differently than humans and animals, and we have no way of detecting or measuring it. I think that shardplate heals itself because all those lesser spren made a choice, in some loose sense of the word, to become a Shard. In doing so, they were woven, or even forged, together in all three Realms. Their essences are Connected. In other words, the shardplate heals itself because it thinks it should be whole. Stormlight just powers the process. Edited June 11, 2020 by RealmaticTheorist
