Quiver he/him Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Uh... sorry. This may be a dumb question, but what's CrossGen? I'm rather intrigued by the idea of these connective worlds- one of the books that I read when getting into fantasy was the Dark Tower after all- but other than sequel or sidequel series like Shanarra or Moorcocks Champion stories, I've never really seen a connected universe with a cohesive story the same way Brandon's done it. 1
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I must say, I might not like Brandon as much without the cosmere. I shouldn't say that; its not true. Rather, what makes his work special is the connection and all the complexity it requires. Other large universe series to me have always felt like a random thing kind of thrown together. Kind of like "And this guy knows that guy from that book", with no real deeper meaning. Quiver is right, the cohesive story and the way Brandon writes means it will not fall apart.
Derrific Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Crossgen was a comics publisher and shared universe that took all kinds of themes and combined them much like Brandon is doing. But it unraveled before completing the story. Check it out it was amazing.
